Idk man. Nothing against acola. Kids amazing. Very few people in the world can play Steve at that level. It’s crazy to see and even enjoyable to a point. But I can’t help but root for the other player whenever I see someone play against a Steve. Feel like that character has way too much privilege over all the other characters. Almost feel to a point some players like Hurt, get jipped. That level of Snake we just saw, I feel like would beat so many top players. But loses to Steve. Idk. Again, acola is incredible. No hate. Almost all of Steve's moves are kill moves and they can all be done completely safely. Not to mention the most advantageous neutral tools in the game. The ceiling for Steve is really high. But that does not mean you have to be a really good player to get results with him. Notice all the steves who are dominating now, were completely unheard of before Steve's meta started. With the exception of ddee. And tbh I believe ddee isn't more successful with Steve BECAUSE of the fact that his fundies won't allow him to throw out degenerate shit all the time in hopes of it landing. Other Steve mains don't have that problem.

Respectfully, Snake has the tools for this matchup. Grenades, especially are so good at stopping Steve from playing his game. Stops minecart and invalidates blocks. Then we have Uptilt, UpAir Bair, all fast, powerful and intangible moves that clank or beat nearly everything. Especially Anvil and Minecart. Not to take away from Hurt’s clear skill and matchup knowledge. Snake simply has the tools.

Bro the ending was so anticlimactic just getting killed by random minecart I hate this game Edit: I get that the minecart wasn’t actually random. Acola is a really smart player and knew that the block forced Hurt to either jump or move forwards where he’d be in danger of anvil. Since snake is a zoner it makes sense he’d jump back to retreat. It’s just ridiculous that minecart kills from so far away in a 50/50 scenario like this after the previous few seconds were so intense

This one wasn't exactly random. Hurt made the mistake of rolling to the left, close to where Acola had placed a block earlier. Acola sent the minecart because Hurt's options were extremely limited in that position, and he hoped Hurt would panic, which he did.

tbh it's not a random minecart, it's just an effective option in this mu where you can see how Acola has adapted by increasing the minecart to force Hurt to play much more precisely and build walls using the platform as a ceiling to deal with the grenade.

Plus grenades explode when they come in contact with Steve. Grenades still explode when they hit blocks and if Steve is too close he still gets hit. I can see it being even but clearly snake has all the tools he needs to take Steve out. Acola just has experience in this mu and even Acola thinks it’s losing for Steve
