This is great. Super catchy with that same strong sense of self that all Delta Rae’s songs carry. Also if this “sounds like everything else”, the problem is with the variety of music you listen to, not this single offering.

I understand why Delta Rae is changing things up a little. I think it has more to with the label than with them, but I hope they don't sacrifice that Southern Gothic Voodoo vibe that makes them unique.

@Hawk Holloway I don't care this particular "artistic vision". Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and the other pop tarts already have this sort of throwaway radio hit song mastered. I don't blame Delta Rae for selling out to make some money. This song sounds like a pop-hit money-maker. They just need a different wardrobe and some choreographed dancers and they're ready to tour. Maybe the can get whoever put Lady Gaga's shows together to build them a stage show to go with this new musical direction. I still have all of their old recordings from back before they sold out to listen to and enjoy.

@@deltaraeband I plan to see you in Atlanta in September. Delta Rae has been one of my favorite bands ever since I first heard of you. I am a little amazed by this particular song, because it doesn't sound like the kind of music you made in the past. And I never, ever begrudge any artist any financial success that comes with their efforts.

@@deltaraeband That's too bad. As it says in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 10, verse 7 "the labourer is worthy of his hire". It is good for an artist to create art which pleases the artist. It is fortunate when others reward the artist because they also like what the artists creates. And, there is no reason for shame or embarrassment for artists who are also skilled at their craft to use their skill, every now and then, to craft something to please an audience who will pay them what that they are worthy of.

Sorry, this is a well-done throway pop song, but it's still just a throwaway pop song. Look at it this way. They released dozens of songs. Any time there are dozens of anything, they can be arranged from best to worst. Something as to come in last. For Delta Rae, this is their song that comes in last.

I'm at a loss for trying to understand any of these naysayers I see.. This is 🔥 Everything they've done is🔥 I think there is an intellectual dishonesty in fans of Dance i/t Graveyard and Bottom o/t River bemoaning a change or inconsistency in style and tone just because it isn't spooky ooky. I have, in my opinion, always heard a remarkable continuity of purpose. The authenticity of the delivery in the lyric. The presence. 🔥 I get that every song doesn't have to be your cup of tea, but that's the beauty of music. A song could not move you at all but could move somebody else. It could light a fire in the soul-- as literally ALL of Delta Rae's work I've been lucky to come across has done for me. Can't wait for June 27th! 😀

"Do you ever dream" wasn't "spooky Ooky". "A Long and Happy Life" wasn't "spooky ooky". "What You Thinkin' Bout Baby" wasn't "spooky ooky". "You're The One For Me" wasn't "spooky ooky". "Bottom of the River" and "Dancin' in the Graveyard" were, but that's hardly the entire Delta Rae catalog. This song sounds like a Katy Perry cover.

Okay, I'm kind of a "Bottom Of The River" person but, this is dam catchy. Kind of a Shawn Colvin vibe. Did not really expect this but I can understand why they may have did it. If this helps keep their career going, then great. Artistic integrity is great but rarely supports a career. Not saying that is the reason for this, just speculation. This a talented group so I'm just going to say, best of luck with it. But come on, tell me it isn't already bouncing around in your head.

Wow this song is amazing! I really loved how they changed things up a bit. They should definitely keep changing things up a bit more often. That's what makes their music amazing and better. This is really different and unique as always. Ladies and gentlemen America this is how you do it and supposed to do it. Took a look at this song and thank me later. I also want to add that what I love about this song is that it doesn't sound like a pop song. It doesn't have that pop feel to it and I just don't see the pop hit money maker on this song. It's just like their every other songs. None of their songs are bad. All of them are equally amazing. This song honestly sounds more country, folk, and gospel mixed together and mixed with their original stuff to it too. Brilliant job. They have amazing labels for sure and they definitely know what they are doing and their labels are incredible too.

It's defnitely not a bad song...quite the opposite, it's a very catchy song, but you can't deny a similarity to more common pop songs. So I definitely understand and agree when people say that the band changed and lost part of what made Delta Rae different/special. I personally think it's not so much a change in their writing/music but much more in their production of those songs. I have not been able to see them live (Europe is waiting!) but from what I've seen on youtube they definitely have amazing passion and fierceness when they perform live and even these new songs seem to be exactly up their "old Delta Rae alley" when played live, but for me, it just doesn't come across in their studio versions anymore! I feel that in general they tend to overproduce their studio/album versions of some songs. I first noticed that with "Chasing Twisters" (first ever song I heard from them). I first heard and fell in love with the EP version of that song...it has something very raw and wild to it (much like described in the lyrics)...that vibe (for me) got totally lost on the "After It All" album version. I think we all agree that these are some fantastic musicians, songwriters and singers and we are happy about any music of theirs that comes our way and we want them to be able to do this for a long time! But sometimes less is definitely more and I feel like with their production they could definitely take a step back in that direction. (Just my humble opinion and I'm no music expert by any means)

Music artists change their style over time, and that's ok. Regardless of how much I love Delta Rae's earlier stuff, if they were just trying to repeat something they'd done earlier, what would be the point of making new music? They gotta grow. Not every song or every phase is gonna be my favorite, but I believe that they'll be better off as artists for having the chance to explore and stretch themselves. That being said, this sounds weirdly like Love Yourself by Justin Beiber (sp?) and I don't love that
@bellavitagirl45 жыл бұрын
I think it's due to the chorus using a similar chord progression and they both utilize similar negative spacing in the accompaniment (Love Yourself was the reference that came to mind for me as well). Coincidentally Eric Holljes used to collaborate with Mike Posner, who wrote songs for Bieber on that album (though not Love Yourself - that was Ed Sheeran.)

This definitely does not have the Delta Rae magic that most of their other songs have. I'm not saying it's a bad song, but it's much more generic than the rest of their stuff and I personally find it a bit boring. Not saying artists can't grow and change, but it's sad when you start to lose that essence of what attracted people to you in the first place. If I wanted a generic pop-y country song I would turn on the radio.
@chrisgardenpartyconcerts76025 жыл бұрын
But the point is, in order to survive (financially) they need to BE on the radio. They are a seven piece (with Gideon) touring band now, with a couple of crew members. That's a lot of folks trying to make a living out there. The only way they're going to be able to make it is to play bigger places. And that's going to take some radio exposure. (wait for the upcoming album release - I can guarantee they're going to have a wide variety of "sounds" on that; so if it takes a couple of tunes on the radio for us to get the whole package then I'm all for it!)
@Lsuits1005 жыл бұрын
@@chrisgardenpartyconcerts7602 I can understand that. It's a good point. It's just disheartening from a die hard fan who has been following them since the beginning to hear them put out such a lackluster song when I know they are capable of much, much more. It's like they are having to dumb down their music for the mainstream.
