I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but in Chapter 2, in the scene where Susie and Toriel are baking a cake, Toriel says, "Ok, Where the hell is Kris?" and Susie responds with, "Toriel?" This seems to be a callback to the Pacifist Ending of Undertale, where Toriel says, "Who the hell is Sans?" and Alphys responds in the same way, by saying, "Toriel?"

When we arrive at the palace, the Queen says to Noelle: "If you don't listen then a certain bird might take a ride in the acid river." The first time you leave the duck in the acid river (when that giant hand is blocking the way), you can check the duck, and it says "Looks like a certain bird is having a ride on the acid river". Maybe it's not that meaningful, but I think it means that THAT was the bird she was talking about, not Berdly. Queen was just trying to make Noelle join her by IMPLICATING that she was going to throw him in the acid river. Or maybe is just a callback. Either way, it's a cool detail.

You can imply something that is not true without lying, if you are vague enough about it to not be a technical lie. Giving that she is a computer, I believe technicality matters a lot to her. (Also, is said in the game she has some sort of variable called TRUE when she's actually lying. Remeber the scene of the "I only play mobile games.")

But with brackets, it's often more humorous or feels more applicable to Kris' perspective. As an example, the "Reocurring bakesales" line in chapter 1 is not written in parentheses. But the police station newspaper (along with the "there's no need to read any more" line that goes with it.) in Chapter 2 IS. As for the TV. Kris being the one pointing it out would imply that they were the one who plugged it in.

There is precedence for parentheses being an indicator of private thoughts in this game. In the snowgrave route, (if I remember right) Noelle has private thoughts in parentheses & "Kris" scares her by responding to her thoughts. There are also a lot of parts where dialogue from other characters is in parentheses, even in normal runs & sometimes, it seems like it could be whispers but other times, it makes no sense if interpreted as a whisper because it would mean someone is whispering past multiple nearby people to talk to someone far away.

I believe the dark unfinished portions are important to both Lighters rooms. Everyone in the town speak highly of Asriel and over look Kris like a shadow. Kris might envy that attention and praise. As for Susie, there’s been a lot of implications that she doesn’t like her home. Theres no mention of her family, and she’s constantly hungry. This is my own interpretation, but I believe she might come from a foster home or possible a low income family where she has to share a room with other people. When Ralsie show’s Susie her room in the castle, she says (something along the lines of) “wow, my own room!”

The bars pop out due to a glitch. They're meant to indicate a highlighted character. When you click on an item that targets one character, those bars appear with the non-selected characters having their bars darkened out. When the game cuts to a text box the bars disappear. But Lancer and Roulx aren't healing items, they don't target characters, and they don't back out to a text box, so the check that clears out the bars never clears properly, thus the bars linger.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but in Sweet Cap'n Cakes shop there's some interesting dialogue. they talk about some "little weird guy" who wanted them to "sneak into Queen's mansion" (Most probably talking about Spamton) They also talk about a "man of taste" which "had a way with words" they couldn't understand, and also mention some blueprints. I don't know if this is refering to Rouxls and the Trhash Machine or Berdly and his weird statue (At their encounter in the city mention building it). Finally, in one of the roads of the city, some Swatchlings are cleaning and the road is cut off, and they mention Queen's preparing something big. This is foreshadowing the battle with Giga Queen at the end of the chapter

If you call Papyrus in the room with the save after falling into the flowers in the Waterfall garbage zone, Papyrus says: "I'm Housemates with a lazy bag of trash. His name's Trashy. He lives in the Garbage can." And when you meet Trashy in Deltarune his name is in Blue like if it was important. Maybe he hopes the player will remember him somehow? :p

I think the reason that Lancer gives the party the little bars above their stats is because to make him interactable in the Key Items menu, Toby made Lancer an equippable item, or something close to it, so when interacted with he made the splat sound and didnt exit the menu. However, since Lancer is an equippable item, he makes the bars appear over the character icons, but since hes never actually equipped, the script for the bars going away never activates At least, thats my theory.

The colours Lancer shows when you interact with him in the menu seem to correspond to the Soul colours of Undertale, which in turn correspond to the flowers in Asgore's loft. They tend to correspond to various virtues and traits: Aqua (Kris): Patience. Aqua is also tied to a lack of movement; you stay still to dodge Aqua attacks Purple (Susie): Perseverance. Purple soul mode is used in the muffet fight, and traps you in specific 'lines' on a web; deals damage with negative words in the Flowey fight Green (Ralsei): Kindness. Associated with healing, cooking, and progressing the battle Yellow (Noelle): Justice. Associated with gun-mode. The Yellow Soul in undertale has a cowboy theme and an empty gun, implying they may have killed someone Blue (Berdly): Integrity. Associated with jumping and ballet, and associated with gravity... Blue soul mode keeps you stuck on the "floor" of the playing area. This is the dodgiest, both in game and out, since we don't know if Berdly actually represents the Blue Soul (But examining the toy in the hospital on a snowgrave route may imply such) ...Make of all that what you will

Here's something quite interesting that not many have picked up on which I think you’d find intriguing: Gaster, from Undertale, seems to mirror a character from Xenoblade Chronicles, named Klaus, as their backstories line up pretty well. Two scientists, who were involved in space-time research, seemingly get pulled into their 'creation'. We can possibly put together what Gaster's deal is in DELTARUNE from what happens to Klaus after that moment (Of course, major spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles up ahead): After Klaus is shattered across time and space, half of him is left in the original universe, broken and unable to affect the world around him, but also all-seeing. The other half is sent to the world that he created in his attempt to 'save' his race. Klaus gains control over the passage of 'fate' - a key plot point in DELTARUNE, and something that characters such as Ralsei, Seam, Jevil and Spamton allude to - and becomes a completely different kind of person. He creates a massive Titan as a sort of 'Body' under his control, which his creations live on, named the Bionis. He then begins destroying and recreating his own world 'many times', each time without any kind of 'sentient' life forms, experimenting with his power in a way similar to Flowey or the Player in Undertale. But then Klaus, at this point known as Zanza, starts to long for friendship. So he creates 'sentient' life, and along with this, a 'physical form': The Monado. A sword with similar abilities as the Player's Red SOUL, from Undertale. It has the power to 'change fate'. Eventually, Zanza creates a VESSEL, to passively house and re-strengthen his Soul, after he and an opponent are defeated in a battle. Like Gaster in Undertale, Zanza has 'followers'. These followers know his origin, are tasked with keeping his creations in check until he returns, and are promised 'eternal life'. No matter what path his creations take, it will lead to the 'Bionis', which of course is one of Zanza's physical forms, awakening and destroying the world (see the similarities with the Roaring), which is one of the main driving points of the game. And coincidentally, the Vessel that Zanza creates is the only one who can use the Monado's true power (so, in effect, this vessel is the only one who can change fate). I’m not sure how much of this will be relevant in the end, but there are also other characters in Xenoblade Chronicles that mirror DELTARUNE characters, such as Dickson at this point in the story mirroring Ralsei, trying to push the 'fated narrative' forward as much as possible. Like Ralsei, he knows that everything is predestined (Ralsei mentions that the entire journey should go 'exactly' as foretold by the prophecy), and 'Recruits' people from different areas on Bionis to form an 'allied force' similar to how Ralsei is asking us to 'Recruit' Darkners from each Dark World. I think that the Knight may play a similar role to Egil, both characters deliberately trying to 'oppose' the will of the god of their universes, but to no avail, as everything is predestined. On top of what I’ve said, it seems that Gaster is somehow involved in the creation of the prophecy as shown by him.png 1 and 2, thus giving him even more similarity to Zanza making a 'prophecised' outcome. Finally, Gaster lowers your Execution Point level GREATLY upon dying (as shown by the battle stats he has in Undertale's code), which implies that killing Gaster is actually a good thing. What do you think of this stuff? Is it all just nonsense? Am I just deluded? Personally I think that Gaster and Zanza will be similar to eachother, but that’s just my theory.

Another great video with lots of fun details I had totally missed before. Awesome work. One thing that I wanted to point out regarding pronunciation is that the "kun" part of Virovirokun's name (and also Pikopiko-kun) is a common Japanese honorific used somewhat endearingly when talking to younger boys specifically. This use of kun is pronounced more like "koon" or "kūn" (whatever phonetic spelling makes more sense). Hope that small tidbit is helpful in some way! Hey, so idk if this was ever covered in any of your videos bcs I haven't had time to comb through all of them, but I discovered something last night, doing some research on some Undertale FUN value events. Once you talk to Clamgirl, who mentions her neighbors daughter "Suzy" (even though it's spelled wrong), if you go to the secret backroom behind the Skelebros's house and look in the drawer that usually has the photo of people you don't recognize, you instead see a photo of three people, smiling, and the photo is labeled "don't forget". Now, before I knew about Deltarune and stuff, I and most of the fandom assumed this was a photo of Sans, Papyrus, and Gaster; but now, with Deltarune, and the event being tied to the interaction with Clamgirl and the name "Suzy", and then finally, that the photo is labeled "Don't Forget", which is obviously the credit song to Chapter One, and letmotif found throughout Deltarune; I would have to think this is a huggggeee reference to Deltarune's world. Still unsure about this? How come it was found SPECIFIALLY in Sans' backroom. Sans is also the one who gave us the Ice-E's word search in Undertale; which is something we never saw again in Undertale, but DOES exist in Deltarune? Somehow, Sans (and maybe Paps? we don't know since we haven't seen him yet) is linked to both worlds, and has knowledge of them both. There's a photo of what we can assume is probably Asriel or Ralsei, Kris, and Susie found with the words "Don't Forget", and the Ice-E's word search. What else could this mean for Deltarune and Undertale? I don't know. They're linked somehow; but we might have to leave it up to Toby to tell us how. Cmon, Toby. Throw us a bone. But again, that was just a theory; a game theory. And this case will remain.... Unsolved. Thanks for reading :)

One thing I found when replaying Chapter 1 is when you go to the librarby and interact where the computer lab is then it will say that a dog (Toby Fox) is inside working on something, and then in Chapter 2 that same area to the computer lab is then an entrance to the second Dark World, seemingly as if that was Toby Fox creating Chapter two in the area that it’s set.

Since Kris' side of the room is so bare and duller, the player assumes Kris' controller is the knock off. I like to think Ralsei actually visited Kris's light-world room to use as a reference and mistook Asriel's side as Kris's. It'd explain the $5 left in Asriel's drawer that wasn't there in chapter 1

that last one is huge. it has to be intentional. kris is jealous of asriel. asriel is a boss monster, but kris isn't. kris wants to be a boss monster like asriel. he sees boss monsters as better than humans. but even in his subconscious, he doesn't allow himself to be a boss monster, he looks more or less the same, because of his inferiority complex. he knows he can never be a boss monster, he feels like he doesn't deserve it. so this fragments his personality - resulting in ralsei. a being with the same energy as a boss monster - almost a combination of the three that he's known (asriel, toriel, asgore). but he comes from kris' subconscious desires, symbolized by the red horns. ralsei is pure and innocent, like the other boss monsters in his life. but also acts like a dreamlike projection - someone who isn't quite there - or isn't quite self aware. or knows things they have no reason to know - like kris' subconscious. resulting in that room. ralsei is a manifestation of kris' ideal self. he is also jealous of ralsei, because he represents everything kris believes he will never be. if toby fox intends to resolve this mental incongruency through the storyline, we might end up seeing a fusion of kris and ralsei in some way, as kris grows closer to becoming his ideal self.
