im gonna add to this even more by saying in undertale Alphys had found a ton of stuff in boxes from the dreemurr castle to base her inventions off of both asriel and Mettaton neo are based off the "angel" that will free the underground it could have been a drawing she found in the trash-zone or the old box of videos in the true lab.

I didn't really think about that, mainly due to the fact that I thought it was just a nod to a really common headcanon (or a joke) about God Of Hyperdeath being Asriel's OC, but this is a really interesting theory.

i doubt it, the computer drawing on Asriel's computer was likely just a simple reference to Undertale. Spamton NEO has way more similarities to Mettaton than Asriel. Mettaton NEO's wings for example were very similar to Spamtons, with the three spikes, Asriel's wings on the other hand are more reminiscent of an angel's. Mettaton NEO also has the same thorn like things on the top edge of their wings, and even has the same hand blaster, and chest piece. Its way more likely that Mettaton drew their ideal body on MS Paint or something in the computer lab, which then turned into Spamton NEO's body. I mean its even called "NEO," its a very obvious direct callback to Mettaton.

My primary rebuttal to this point (besides all the other ones, like the body being labelled "NEO", a term we have seen in reference to Mettaton but not to Asriel) Swatch states that the body was "left here with the rest of the corrupted data." How would we be able to clearly access Asriel's Hyperdeath design if it were corrupted data....in the computer lab?

Remember digital items arent the only things that made it into the computer lab fountain. For example the ferris wheel poster. So if asriel drew a picture of this on paper at some point in the computer lab and it was left there, OR he drew it in MS paint and printed it out and it was left there, it would work.

i really like this theory but a problem with it is that the picture is on asriel's computer is nowhere near the library. when a dark fountain is formed, it used the objects in the room to create the dark world. you would have to make the extra stretch that asriel decided to redraw the thing on a different computer when they had a computer at home.

This theory convinced me that Asriel is the 2nd best option for the artist. As other comments explain, nearly every point here could be better explained by Mettaton Neo, plus the leitmotif and the haircut the body has before the disk is inserted. The best piece of evidence is the 'hopes and dreams' from Swatch's dialogue, but hopes and dreams are also a general theme for Undertale/Deltarune, and could be about Hapstablook's dream of a body, like the one Alphys made for him in Undertale. Finally, there's no indication of Hapstablook's drawing skills, or even when he drew this

While some details do line up, i don't think it is fair to make a connection between Spamton NEO's design with Angel of Death for those similarities as the original NEO also posses all the mentioned details (ragged wings, the horns on his "shoulders" and a core (tho different spot on their body) as well.)

I must admit either connection has some connections over the other like the sloppily rainbow and jagged wings connecting asriel or the possible high heels and more similar blaster on MTT NEO. However, we know for certain Asreil made a drawing. From this we can either take 1 or 2 smaller connections that more connect it to MTT or the 1 biggest point of knowing a drawing exists and who made it.

Spamton also has a few similarities to Flowey. The theme that plays in the basement is a slowed down theme that plays at the start of Omega Flowey's fight, they both smile most of the times, in both routes we help Spamton become NEO and both in pacifist and neutral Flowey says that it's because of us that he became powerful, both want to be really powerful so they can won't be just puppets, Flowey is aware that he is in a game and although I don't think that Spamton knows that he is in a game he definitely knows that his choices don't matter and they both want your soul, yeah in UT everyone wanted your soul but Flowey was more specific about it

The creation mentioned in the beginning of the second chapter is probably a reference to Undertale as the “rainbow wings” and “final boss” is Asriel dreemur in the pacifist route of Undertale which raises a lot of questions.

also, keep in mind that Asriel has an account on the computer and Hapstablook doesn't. My personal opinion on this still 50:50 in each direction. I find both ideas interesting and have good evidence to them (especially pointing out that the dummy theme isn't really related to Spamton except only by the similarity between the two characters, so why should the Neo theme stand with more weight? BUT it could also be created by the mad ghost for Hapstablook, too, despite being less likely. Oh, and after doing some digging, the robot you see in the basement does look uncannily similar to the concept art for Mettaton. Like I said, it could go in any direction.)

This video did make something from Undertale click for me: Maybe Asriel's final form looks the way it does--black body, wing shape, heart on chest--is because all our friends' souls are in there, burning with the same desire. We see those same motifs repeated on Mettaton Neo and Undyne the Undying (no wings, but shoulder pads that suggest them). So in both the Pacifist and Genocide runs, we see those visual elements express themselves, but in different ways. Just like how we hear the "burning with the same desire" talk in both runs, but they mean different things! Maybe, out of the kindness of his heart, Asriel drew a picture for Mettaton while they were hanging out at the library? :0 We don't know if they necessarily hung out together, but everyone seems to know and like Asriel, small town and all that...and it seems plausible that Asriel might want to reach out to someone else in need :)

Some people are saying that since the fountain was in the library, Asriel's computer wouldn't be part of it. I think that Asriel probably shared his boss idea online, which put it in the cyber world

Great theory but I’m not very convinced. The picture on Asriels computer definitely referencing Asriels final from from UT but I don’t think it was talking about SPAMTON Armor. The spikes you refer to on Spamtons wings were not on Asriels wings (the spikes you pointed at were his shoulder pad spike things) . Another thing is that I mean cmon the blaster and the wings while also being a robot made by someone hoping and dreaming of a new body. That’s Hapstablook(MTT) but of course it’s not confirmed so who knows maybe it was secretly gaster who drew it while bored waiting for 2 years

I think the more popular theory that it's mettaton NEO is far more likely, because there's simply far more connections and more concrete connections. for one, the cyber world is a dark world based on the computer lab and the internet. asriel's drawing is saved on his computer, not the internet or the library. asriel's drawing can't be in the cyber dark world. and, then there's physical similarities as well as fight similarities: -you get a yellow heart like mettaton's fight -he has an arm cannon like mettaton (it's not a wand, it much more closely resembles mettaton NEO's arm cannon, and we never see him holding it, we instead see his hand turning into it) -many of his moves are taken from mettaton, like the bombs and the gates. during the snowgrave fight, it also says "wreck" and "spew" during his strongest move, similar to mettaton recording and reversing attacks. -many moves are directly inspired from mettaton, like the heart attack and his flying heads (which reference the flying mettatons) -the wings are more similar to mettaton neo than asriel. even the hook thingies you mentioned are already on mettaton neo's design -they both have NEO in the name -the theme references spamton neo and ghost fight (since mettaton was originally a ghost) like, there's so many clear connections between spamton neo and mettaton neo. it's clear what toby is referencing here: mettaton neo. swatch does mention hopes and dreams, but deltarune also has the field of hopes and dreams which aren't referencing asriel either, so I don't think the mention of hopes and dreams really references asriel, especially when everything else points to mettaton. many of the physical similarities you mentioned between spamton neo and asriel are also there with mettaton NEO, often even stronger with neo, like the wings. that goes for all the connections, really. there's way more similarities with spamton neo and mettaton neo, and the few connections there are with spamton and asriel, work way better for mettaton.

I like the idea that the final boss on Asriel's computer is the robot that becomes Spamton NEO. I think this makes more sense than the final Asriel Dremurr fight from Undertale. It keeps it in universe for one. Also it states "The game never saw the light of day" which explains why the robot is in disarray in the mansion basement. And considering the entire chapter takes place in Cyber World...it makes a lot of sense.

i don't really buy that asriel made the neo body but i do think that theres a connection between him and spamton, even if it's just narrative parallels. both characters are on multiple occasions associated with the phrase "ride around town" spamton says it himself and both burgerpants/pizzapants and asgore say it in reference to asriel. I'm really surprised no one else seems to have noticed this. no other characters are connected to the phrase, and it's a highly specific choice of words so i feel like it has to be deliberate

Metatton NEO wings and "thorns" in his wings are very similiar to Spamtom NEO........ ALSO, the mini metatton attack is very similiar to the mini Spamtom attack. I had this thought as well. If everything in the cyberworld is a personification of things in the computer lab, wouldn't it make sense that the Neo vessel came from the design on Asriel's computer? I do think it's more likely a reference to his final form in Undertale, but it could very well be the origin of the Neo vessel in Deltarune I also wonder if perhaps Asriel worked on stuff in the computer lab as well as at home

i think to explain the yellow soul mode could be that 1. the deltarune soul and undertale soul, while the same, contain different properties since yellow soul mode was a phone upgrade in undertale while deltarune seems instinctive 2. if asriel as making this apparent abridged undertale perhaps the soul mode was part of the idea anyways

I feel like a lot of this is a stretch- Its most definitely mettaton's sketch and the drawing in the bedroom is a reference to undertale's final boss. This pissed me off so much I have to add to this- Mettaton Neo also had a heart shape on his chest, He also has those pointed wings you harped on about, NEO has an ARM CANON not a fucking wand-, and the battle portrait is in black and white so we'd have no idea if those wings are colorful or not. Asriel being connected to the machine is just a stretch- We can see the machine before spamton inhabits it too! It has hair similar to Neo and looks nothing like a goat.

Duke of Null I think it makes more sense that NEO is the same in Deltarune as it is in Undertale but with one major different. It depends on which world the robotic body was made in. If it was made in the Light World than the EX Form will be superior to the NEO Form, if it was made in a Dark World than the NEO Form will be superior to the EX Form.

My idea is, starting from the mew mew wand and the general structure of spamton NEO, that it is a drawing made not by mettaton, but by alphys, since it is implied that she made the design for mettaton and mettaton NEO in undertale, so I see no reason why she wouldn't be the one to draw something like that, maybe, one day, she went to the library to wind off and while on the computer she drew that battle suit inspired from the mew mew series that she's a diehard fan of, then later discarded it because of her constant second guessing herself, so it just went into the trash, also remember that we both see the curved appendiges and the heart shaped core in Mettaton Neo itself

That’s a good theory, but I think the body could more of a combination of both, maybe Asriel drew it but metton designed it, I feel it’s more like the design of neo then asriel dreamer what with it being a robot having a cannon and move of them have heart based attacks, also in the metton neo boss fight (fanmade) the cannon was used to fire bull it like projectiles and all sorts of stuff, maybe Toby seeing how unused the cannon one neo’s arm was, liked the use of it in the game and decided to use it here, I bring this up because of the Pipus attack that spamton used is like the one that the fan boss uses, an attack hits the box, witch makes another attack, only with spamton you have to stop it, they feel similar, also spamton wings have the same design as neo’s

WAIT JUST HAD A BRAINWAVE The picture is saved on Asriel's PC, however, Asriel's school account is saved on the Library's network and if I'm remembering correctly there is a crashed PC in the library. Perhaps that was a computer that Asriel used to edit his files on, and it was infected by a virus (Spamton) who then found Asriel's epic cool winged boss! To list all the numerous flaws with this theory: (Just as a warning, this is a long comment, don't click read more if you don't want to read the whole thing) Starting with the obvious: -The rainbow wing boss thing is most likely a reference to Asriel's fight in Undertale. It doesn't need to go any deeper than that, just a nice little nod towards Toby's previous game and to the fact that the forms Asriel takes in his boss fight are basically power fantasy OCs. -It's literally called Spamton NEO, and includes the two defining features of Mettaton NEO, the wings, and more importantly, the blaster arm. -Upon being defeated through violence in the regular route, Spamton claims he's about to turn into Spamton EX, obviously referencing MTT EX. -The heavy use of the motifs of three of the four UT ghosts(Napstablook and Mad Dummy's variants of the motif they share, and of course Power of NEO. The remaining ghost, the ruins Dummy, doesn't have their own motif, unless you count anticipation as one). The Japanese name of the theme is even "Power of [[Big]", once again referencing Power of NEO. While you acknowledge this, it feels like you're trying to downplay it by playing a part of the theme where the motif is modified rather than the part where it is clear and unmodified(sharing the section with what some are now calling the "secret boss" or "freedom" motif, from The World Revolving.) -Like you said yourself, Spamton and MTT have a lot in common. Both highly ambitious characters who wanted to be famous, and both ended up gaining robotic bodies to use in an attempt to achieve it. Both abandoned people who cared about him:For MTT, that means Blooky, for Spamton it was the Addisons. Both are fought one-on-one with negative defense stats which reference the protagonist's desire to cause harm during routes where you kill(Before buffing his defense, Spamton has negative defense in the Snowgrave route, just like MTT NEO). They even both have a name ending in -ton. -The NEO robot is, well, a robot. Like MTT's body. Then there's more minor stuff: -The incredible amount of parallels between MTT's attacks and Spamton Neo's fights:The yellow soul, both have an attack where miniature versions of themselves that can be shot and destroyed and which fire projectiles, both have an attack involving their hearts moving around and firing projectiles, which can be shot at to progress the fight, both have attacks which cover the entire box but can be avoided through shooting something, several bits of flavour text directly referencing flavour text from MTT NEO, constant references to an audience in the flavour text for Spamton NEO(referencing how MTT EX's fight and most encounters with MTT are being broadcasted live.), Spamton's final attack involves the words "Wreck" and "Spew" showing up in the corner of the screen, which are referencing the "Rec"/"Rew" mechanic used in the MTT EX fight. -The location and state of the file containing the game: Because the file was at the Dreemurr house and not on one of the library computers, it shouldn't have had a dark world counterpart in the library dark world. Additionally, the robot is described as corrupted data, presumably meaning the robot's file is corrupted. Corrupted files generally cannot be opened. Asriel's game files can be opened, and so don't seem to be corrupted. -Some of Spamton's dialogue in his shop directly references one of Burgerpant's dialogue from the genocide route. Burgerpants is MTT's employee in Undertale. -The theory that the secret bosses are referencing the genocide bosses seems farfetched to me(Aside from skipping Asgore and Jevil not using the blue soul or any attack resembling Sans' attacks, for there to be seven secret bosses following this theme then a miniboss such as Muffet would have to be included as well as Asgore.), but might as well include it. If Jevil is indeed meant to reference Sans, then Spamton being a MTT NEO reference makes sense. and finally, the evidence which you pointed out to support this theory which also supports MTT being the creator: -Nothing ever came of the robot's creation. Just as how Mettaton is such a nobody in deltarune that he refuses to even give his name. Aligning with the fact that Alphys is a teacher(While she is probably just as smart as in Undertale, her lack of the title of doctor implies that she has had a different education leading to a drastically different skillset.) who has never met MTT(As the human fanclub the two met at never happened). It being MTT's design for a body makes more sense, because Asriel's game does come to fruition in a sense:It's not unlikely that it's just literally Undertale. -The use of the words Hopes and Dreams definitely reference the track Hopes and Dreams, which is additionally referenced in MTT's quiz, where one of the possible answers to "What are robots made of?" is exactly that. A robot made of someone's hopes and dreams definitely seems like it can be a subtle reference to that. Ultimately, to support this theory you have to not just ignore the abundance of evidence pointing to MTT, but explain it away as coincidental. You haven't explained it in a way that shows that it is coincidental, nor have you shown that the connections to Asriel are themselves anything more than exaggerated coincidences and indirect possible connections such as a possible reference to a reference to his theme.

While the whole Asriel angle is a good idea but evidence for otherwise is just so obvious (or maybe it isn't and I'm such a big Mettaton fan it's only obvious to me). If I'm being honest I still can't believe there are theories about this. I thought it was completely obvious that is was a drawing Mettaton made of his dream body. It's just Mettaton NEO in random bright colors and Spamton's head. Not the mention the fact that it's called Spamton NEO. The thing people like to call the "Pipis cannon" is obviously Mettaton NEO's laser gun hand thing not Mad Mew Mew's staff thing. Not only is is replacing one of his hands when in use, it looks basically exactly the same as Mettaton NEO's hand gun (Haha comedy). As for it not being a perfect recreation, I think the program he used made getting his idea across a challenge and the Mad Dummy/Mew Mew ghost was involved in making it somehow, and they decided to add their own touches to the design (either with or without Mettaton's permission to do so), making him get frustrated and throw it away which is why nothing ever came of it. This also explains both the Power of NEO and Dummy! lietmotifs being included in the song. I can keep going giving more evidence to this and disproving your points but I think everyone understands at this point by now.

Yeah, sorry, but I heavily doubt this. Each element you mentioned that ties NEO and Asriel Dreemurr also ties Spamton Neo to Mettaton Neo (Heart in the core, and spikes on the shoulder/wing area) not to mention the cannon like arm on Spamton and Mettaton NEO are both nearly identical. As well as this its important to remember that A. The dark world in Chapter 2 is the Library's computers, and the internet is down, so there would be no way that the "file" that represents that suit would be in the dark world and B. The basement is full of corrupted or deleted data, as mentioned by text, clearly since the folder is open and on the desktop, the file isnt deleted

Yeah, Toby Fox is good at making little to notice details, for example: "when the Addisons talk about Spamton, there was someone giving him advice that made Spamton successful, but the caller one time left, never to be seen again, which led to his downfall, and one time, the phone was hanging, but when it's heard it's referred as garbage noise, calling in the Dark World causes whatever the noise Gaster makes and its addressed as garbage noise."

I agree with your theory but I have one question. In the end of Chapter 2, Kris stabs their knife to the ground, thus creating a new dark fountain. Could this mean that the drawing/machine could probably come back in Chapter 3, just waiting for somebody else to use it or maybe this could be a certain [[BIG SHOT]]'s second chance? I'm also forgetting that Spamton evolved into the Dealmaker. STILL.

Edit: Yeah, in the cutscene before the encounter, the NEO's head is an oblong, oval-like shape. Then it looks like a skinny version of Spamton's face, then widens out, before settling into Spamton NEO's head.

Spamton’s connections to Mettaton make sense because well his TV Association,his name,Neo form and music but he’s might be connected to the Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew and Napstablook but I think it goes deeper. There was something unused in Undertale where there was a Key in a Trash Can and locked Stable near Napstablook’s house where opening it with the Key reveals the Figure that speaks Wing Dings in Room_Water_Redacted which can only be accessed by modifying the Game Files (it could be Gaster but doesn’t look like him) it’s a Wispy White Dude that just says “[Redacted]” in Wingdings (this might be the Original or Prototype version of the Room used in Undertale where you find Gaster) although Room_Water_Redacted and the Wispy White Dude goes unused it could be important as the only way to Find ENTRY NUMBER 17 which is important was by modifying the Game and using Debug

Nah, man, Spamton NEO's wings are more similar to those of Mettaton NEO. Also the additon NEO in the name of both bosses prove the theory that this body was drawn by Mettaton even more. Also, I guess that Asriel's drawing was only on his computer, while Mettaton probably used a public PC in a library. That can explain how the dark world created in the computer room has this body. Because... Well, the Internet isn't working, so Asriel's drawing cannot get there anyhow.

I certainly don't claim that there isn't a substantial connection to MTT, I just mean to bring out the also plentiful connections to Asriel. It's something to thin on about and compare to the clearer MTT connect. I think that Kris is the creator of the robot, this is why he is so disturbed at the end of the fight (and Ralsei seems to know why). It's even more plausible if we believe the theory "Kris is Chara that took the player's SOUL at the end of a genocide route and created their own world" because it would explain why the design is so similar to Metaton Neo: he is the only (with Metaton and Alphys) who has seen this design. Also Kris is the true gamer while Asriel seems to like video games but do more things in real life as suggested by all the trophies and stuff in the bedroom compared to the Kris' side.
