No AI , no digital and other caffaffle . Just expert model making , great characters and laudable acting ( sort off ). No smut . They took care to do the best wuth what they had ! . 99% of Hollywoods current output is garbage . This is so relaxing to watch . Thanks . Dave

WOW - what a tremendous film I have discovered today. I cannot measure its merits with our 21st Century viewpoints or rule-books because of the time in which it was produced. Yet, I found a truly interesting story-line, though full of tragedy even until the end, it fleshed out the possible futures that our existence might have if such a calamity should strike us, in a way which dealt, in its own somewhat crude manner in our eyes, exposed the realities of our flawed human natures. I can't say enough about its excellence in the face of our cinematic infancy - as a truly memorable film.

Really enjoyed this movie. It was more romance then sci-fi but kept me on the edge of my seat.

Great film, unknown gem. What a piece of realism and no happy ending, but honest people anyway.

Gorgeous print! Many Thanks for posting! Was rumored for a time that the great Willis O'Brien worked on this film but probably not. Peggy Shannon was a real stunner, but drank herself to death at a young age.

I watched this movie when I was a child, and remember my mother trying to explain the ending to me... I was very upset about it. It's a good movie.

I hate the ending, that he's somehow such a catch, that it's just not worth living anymore. She was a great independent woman character and she's going to give it all up. They almost make her seem like sort of a hero for sacrificing herself, but gee lady, there's other fish n the sea.

I agree the ending sucked.

1933 was the year of "King Kong" at RKO; this one didn't have nearly the studio support. But it's very good. The special effects director, Ned Mann, had done work with "Kong"'s Willis O'Brien, and would make his mark with this and London Film's "Things to Come" three years later. The frenetic pace and modest budget are all well used. And Peggy Shannon was quite a surprise.

Wow, the tzunami scene is pretty impressive. They are not really "miniatures", comparing the buildings with the true size of the water they must have built a quite large set.
@Anname813 күн бұрын
Absolutely amazing special effects. More movement, more horrifying g than most modern depictions. I think it's the viewpoints, like your right in or on the edge of what is happening.

What's amazing is that this film was considered lost just a few years ago and was only available on Amazon in Italian with English subtitles. The tidal wave hitting New York was later used in a Commander Cody movies made in the 1950's.

This is exactly why they will not find 'Atlantis'. The San Andreas Fault 'moves' about every 60 years. The last 'big one' was in 1964. The movement is being stopped by 2 'rocks'. One under San Francisco and the other under San Diego. The rocks will either rotate or split in half.

I remember a Christian America, before Lyndon Johnson and America's Democrat enemies conspired to re-engineer it into a secular multicultural hodgepodge.
@mikeyoung981010 күн бұрын
The democratic party is not the enemy. Try to keep an open mind and not be manipulated by hearsay. It's not groups of people that are the problem but wealthy individuals wanting power over the rest of us.

Is that about the same time they took prayer out of schools ? This world is not my home but i would like to see God bless this great nation once more before the end.

@camaroman94417 күн бұрын
@@tonypike5785 Yes. The Good Catholic Justice Earl Warren ended prayer in schools in 1961. The Good Catholic JFK upheld that decision. JFK was murdered and martyred, and Lyndon Johnson and America's Democrat enemies and their RINO friends seized the opportunity to turn America into the secular third world hellhole it is now. The Great Society.
