Rewatching the Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride in 2023 is a little weird now that The Lion Guard is considered canon. It’s impossible to get through the movie without wondering where Simba’s son Kion is. However, now that I know the truth, it turned out to be a way sadder reason than I ever imagined. I mean, the most obvious reason for the lack of Kion in The Lion King 2 was simply because his character wasn’t created by the time the movie came out. But the reason they gave us in The Lion Guard canon is much more heartbreaking than that.

You do realise there is an entire episode (which is the final episode of the series) where Kion returns home after the events of Simba's Pride & learns about what happened while he was away & Vitani even ends up with the roar but Kion & his guard chooses to return to the Tree Of Life to live there

from what i know, there is an end to the Lion Guard where Kion does return and it's after the events of the Lion King 2, because you can see Kovu and Kiara as well as the outsider lions as part of the pride.

He already returned at the end of season 3 before he left again to become king of the Tree Of Life. Also, he did survive his journey to be healed, because if he died during the journey, the season would end at whatever episode he dies in when he's halfway through his journey.

In the episode where Kion returns to the Pride Lands Simba tells Him that one day Kiara and Kovu will be Queen and King of The Pride Lands. The Lion Guard did an excellent job of fitting in to established Lion King canon.

Yeah you didn’t finish the show. He returned home fully healed, just stuck with the scar, but he returned after the big fight between the lion prides, and then relinquished his role as leader of the lion guard to the new team, whose leader was Kovu’s sister, and then Kion and his team went back to the tree of life where they became team of the tree of life, where he kept the roar and became king over the tree of life by marrying queen Rani.

Your explanation amazed me, I always watched the Lion Guard on TV and I still remember how scared I felt when Kion was bitten by the viper. From the beginning his fear of Kion was always that he would become like Scar and now that fear was really possible, I never saw it coming. I do consider The Lion Guard canon.. It always seemed a miracle to me how they managed to fit it in between the events that occurred in TLK II, yes, this show was well thought out and written, to intertwine with the main story without altering: He was not yet born when Kiara met Kovu as a child, and he was absent during the battle of Zira, due to his journey in search of a cure against his evil scar, and I felt bewildered the moment I saw Kion return when it was all over. I really wonder how long Kion's journey actually took: years? plus the time he stayed in the Tree of Life recovering, that's very sad, because it looks like a lot of time has passed and now he looked like a youngster. But he did return, but when there was a new lion guard, he and his friends decided to stay at the Tree of Life.

Season 3 of lion guard was probably set up as a means to send kion away before the major events of the lion king 2 . Kion was likely born sometime after kiara first met kovu and since kion and kiara became teenagers in season 3 where the main event of the second movie took place,it makes sense why kion was absent because he was traveling to the tree of Life

The last episode takes place after getting healed, learning the full potential of the roar, and finding out about The Outlanders attacking the Pride Lands. Yes, they get back after the battle and the two prides have been rejoined into one but they still get back. I think the part of the video that confuses me is the use of Season 3 clips yet this “dark twist” that Deluxe has made. The last scene is the wedding between Kion and Rani.

Dude i hate to be that person, but the series dident stop at the time Kion left the pride lands, we saw his hole journey from start to Finnish, including when he returnt to a pride land where the second movie had already taken place, olso I higly doubt that it had taken years fore him to go away and back, as he and Kiara was alredy young adult looking when he left, and lookt exactly the same when he returned, (if you dont Think they were Young adults when they left, they lookt like they did because of the art style, who are more geared to a younger audience, they were supposed to be young adults, the whole time skip was suppose to show them going from children to a more mature age) i rather think he was away fore something more akin to seven to eighth months in lion years, (as a guess, because its impossible to know eksacly how long) if it had taken years he would more likely look more akin to how simba looks like, and you Olso dont normaly say “try and be back fore this thing thats happening” if its something that will happen far away in the future like over a year, and besides that i have two main reasons I think it COULDN’T have been THAT long. 1. after Jasiri and Janja came running to tell about the outsiders attack on the pride lands (in wich i higly doubt that they would still have hope about it not being to late, if the journey takes years) it took them ONE episode to come back, now that the obstecals was taking out of the equation because of Kions new mastery of the roar. 2. At the actual ending of the show, we see Kions weeding at the tree of life, with all sorts of guests from the pride lands that knew Kion, i can’t imagene anyone taking such a long journey just fore a wedding, where you have to leave anyway a day to a week latter THE SAME distance back as your journey to it, if it was a journey that takes YEARS to make. Hope this doesn’t sound to harsh, but your making it Sound like it could be WAY longer that it was, when we have evidence to give us an idea of how Long it took.

The show LITERALLY has an entire ARC that explains why Kion wasnt there. He was traveling out of the pride lands to cure himself from snake venom, and discovered the Tree of Life where he decided to become king alongside another lioness named Rani that he met there. The show even shows him return back to the pride lands and learn about what happened with Zira and all that.

I think the series already concluded with Kions party reaching the tree of life, defending it from those that followed them, got cured where it matters, and arrived after the movie concluded for a few days. Also the final season had a time skip before defeating fire ghost scar so it was probably weeks or months at most.

A few years ago, I once tried to watch The Lion Guard but I got bored halfway through the first season so I stopped. The real reason is Disney hadn’t decided yet to bleed a classic film with one ok sequel and one bad sequel. To bleed it further by making a series that retcons events and ruin characters from the original classic film.

You do realize the final season of the series lion was alive at the tree of life healing his scar which now he realizes that it’s skin deep that it’ll never fade away…but the venom is gone. Which he now returned to the pride lands to defeat the exiled lions (forgot there name) but they did not need to due to zira that died. And he decided to join Rani to rule the Tree of life… (You should watch the series again that he didn’t die it’s that the lion guard events happen outside the lion king 2 movie)

I think Kion died honestly, hence why he didnt have a full mane by the time he comes back to pride rock when zira had already died. All the magical stuff was in his head, that magical roar never existed it was just an imagination in his head. The marks were really painted on them by Rafiki and Scar was the only thing that actually happened but he lied about his scar to the snake to convince him to bite him, in reality it was slowly killing him. There was a cure at the tree of life but they were too late to get there. The lions there attempted to help but he was too far beyond help. The lioness did fall in love with him which made it sadder. The other lions guards decided to stay there not wanting to face Simba to tell him of his sons death and there u go. Thats my opinion. An imagination adventure that played in Kions head turned into a kids show

Important to note that while the venom did play a big part of this trend, it was also shown in a flashback that Scar was already a greedy sort of lion before he was bitten, he was thinking of double crossing the lion who set a snake on him before it happened. I think the show makes that clear because they didn't want to make a cop-out story that paints Scar as completely innocent or without his own responsibility. As for the rest, yea I'm not sure how this channel failed to do a theory on the lion guard without finishing the series even though it seems like they have CLIPS from the final season in this video. My guess is it was written and voiced by AI like most content seems to be these days. Sadly have to thumbs down the vid for that sake.

The Lion guard doesn't make sense at all just make a qucik way of earning moneys🤢🤮. 1. First of all in the original Lion King 2 movie Simba was overprotective towards Kiara to almost no letting her go anywhere alone. 2. In the Lion guardian Kiara can freely roam the pridelands almost anywhere she wants to also with her friends and Kion. 3. And final it is so pathetic that Scar's ghost showed up in the Lion Guard serie. When Zira is the one who is the new main villian now. All in total it would make more sence if Scar wasn't in the serie at all. Plus Kopa had replaced Kion instead as Kiara's dead big brother. Since it would more, make perfect sense with Simba's overprotectiveness towards Kiara because he lost Kopa to Zira, whom never experienced his little sister's birth even before The Lion King 2 movie was created. That might also be the case why Simba expelled Zira and her followers in the first place. Some time after he defeated Scar together with the hyenas and the fire.

One thing in the timeline of the lion guard series is that in the first season where Kion meets Kovu there doesn’t seem to be a major age difference between them appearance wise or other 🤔 - Also Am I the only one who’s incredibly annoyed by the fact that only Kovu and Kion gets major appearance differences as they grow older ? I mean by the end of series Kovu has full grown mane and everything but, Kiara almost still looks like a cub compared to how she looked as an adult in the movie 😑 they couldn’t even be bothered to make her fur brighter orange as in the film that’s just lazy 😒
