Closest thing to Kobe in the modern game. Doesn't rely on his athleticism instead using craft, skill and incredible footwork; is prolific from mid range and consistently makes tough shots. Derozan is a joy to watch offensively

People always equate athleticism to verticality and explosiveness. Deceleration, change of pace and direction, and horizontal and diagonal body contortion are other aspects that are rarely discussed. This is where players like Luka and Ginobili excel, and can beat out supreme athletes like slam dunk contest participants.

I do tend to equate athleticism to the more explosive aspects of the game hence why I said he doesn't rely on it but in retrospect you're 100% right

People don't realize that Derozan isn't actually that athletic. He can jump super high, but his lateral quickness really isn't that good (hence why he's not a great defender). Because of this, he relies on his impeccable footwork to score.
