What's even funnier about this is that this is 100% accurate to how Yoshi has been in previous games. Yoshi never got hurt by enemies, he will just run away scared. He has never been able to use powerups like mario, and has always had his own set of powerups in world or galaxy 2. This is just how Yoshi has always been.

The funny thing is that the Yoshi and Nabbit are pretty accurate to their source material. Yoshi is basically what if your partner is playable, and Nabbit is basically what if an enemy is playable. Yoshi has always had the ability to knocked out by enemies and have his own type of power ups, while Nabbit can go through enemies and collect power ups for his own use. These are traits that what make the character unique.

Demeech claiming that the "mercy mode" option in games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder and New Super Mario Bros. Wii makes the game worse is genuinely insane. Like dude, nobody's forcing you to use the "mercy mode" powerups or characters; they're merely there for people who either A) want to use them as a option/alternative to the main items/characters or B) want to enjoy the game but are put off by the higher difficulty. It really goes to show how detached from reality he is.

The thing everyone hated about NSMBU Deluxe was that if you played four player co-op, someone had to have more abilities than everyone else. Since Blue Toad was now a toggle rather than a separate character, one of the players would have to be either Toadette or Nabbit, who were both easy mode characters. This upset the balance of that game. In Mario Wonder, there's more than enough regular characters for everyone to go in with the same abilities. You can even have all four players be a Yoshi if you want. It's a perfect way to have an easy mode since everything is optional. Mario Wonder has flaws, don't get me wrong, but Yoshi's inclusion is certainly not one of them. Thank you for coming to my yap session.

Mario games aren't usually that deep, but even so, it's shows that the developers of Wonder fixed a minor issue and possibly even took some feedback from NSMBU Deluxe into account. It kinda baffles me that after playing Wonder, Yoshi is the only thing some people choose to complain about??? Not only does it not even matter that much, but it's literally an improvement over something that came before it.

Now that I think about it, I actually have a pretty good example of how my experience of a game benefited from an easy mode: When I first played Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch, I had already seen playthroughs of the game and really wanted to beat it, but I was afraid that the difficulty was above my skill level. So I played an entire playthrough (maybe 2 even, I forget) with Funky Mode activated, and I had fun! But one fateful day, I decided to take the kiddie gloves off, and after beating the game in the normal mode I found myself enjoying the game even more. Now I’ve even 200%ed the game more than once, and I have a blast the entire time

What’s his deal with an easy mode? If you don’t want to play the easy mode, then don’t play the easy mode. It’s not like it’s forcing you and it’s there for players that may not handle the difficulty. I can understand wanting to play as yoshi, but not liking the easy mode but playing the easy mode, you got no one to blame but yourself.

Even his hating on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet go a bit too far. I understand that he thinks the game is bad, and that's a very valid opinion! I played the game for myself, including DLC, and while I personally don't hate it, as there is the *skeleton* of a fun game in here and the final part with Area Zero in the base game leaving me on the edge of my seat and glued to the screen (until the Ed Sheeran credits music jumpscare, why did they do this?), I cannot deny that the game is underbaked as all hell, and contains a LOT of flaws. I enjoyed it, but it's far from my favorite Pokémon game, and definitely on the lower end of the scale for me. So I fully understand a lot of people not liking the game. However, if you were to even SAY to Demeech that you enjoyed Pokémon S&V even a *tiny* bit, get ready to say goodbye to your knees, because this man is going straight for them! A lot of the content I've seen from him has him shitting on people who remotely like those games. Like, HARDCORE shitting on them. One thing is not liking a game, the other is mercilessly bashing people who like them at almost every opportunity. Calm down son, it's just a mediocre video game...

I always didn't like Demeech, he just seemed to have weird or poor takes and just seemed to get angry at things for little good reason. His video about easy modes is stupid as well, not every game NEEDS an Easy mode, but it's good to make games more accessible for non-gamers and it doesn't 'ruin' games. It's an accessible feature; if you don't want the game to be easy, then don't use easy mode?? Self-challenges exist too. Deemech's voice is a little hard to listen to, not to mention his script writing feels really disorganized, he'll go on a weird tangent that has little to do with the video he's talking about (like with the Gamestop things and the 'stomping on goombas and koopas' thing. Like, just get to the point already. He's bad at hooking viewers to his video. Also, 2-D Mario isn't 'outdated', it just got somewhat bland and predictable, until Wonder. You're a very underrated youtuber. Subscribed!

Super Mario World is a hard game... if you're not using the cape. The game's curve really skews when you use the cape cuz all challenge is gone but there is some interesting things if you don't use the cape. Funky Kong will forever be the best easy mode cuz he's extremely fun to play and has a different skill ceiling that is completely seperate from OG Tropical Freeze's and I think the Yoshis were aiming for that sweet spot that Funky hits but miss it due to the inability to die from normal things. Because the most interesting thing about Yoshis is you can use Yoshi in two different ways as the easy mode. Like Musty said you can use him to taxi whoever needs help while they try to learn a normal character OR they can play as Yoshi and develop skills there. I just wish you could toggle a health bar for Yoshi and I think he'd be as perfect as Funky is.

Actually, Mario does have poorly aged design here and there. Super Mario Bros. 3 has the World 8 Fortress for example. All the New Super Mario Bros. games have at least some Star Coin or Secret Exit locations that require a third eye or Google basically to figure out where they are, especially present in Luigi U. IMO Luigi U is the worst one, that's my hot take. By the way, I do kind of agree that the distinction of easy and normal characters does prevent the game from perfection, but not because I think "players should git gud" like he does. What I think is that ALL characters should have easy and normal options that toggle whether they take damage or not. Like the problem here isn't that Mario has easy options, it's that Mario gates off specific characters to specific options. Like, there's no reason to believe a child who doesn't have the skill to win normally wouldn't want to play as Mario. Mario is the series' icon, so I think it's only fair beginners should be allowed to have accessibility features while playing as him. And I think the same for Yoshi. Yoshi is a long time favorite for many growing up with the series, and those who grew up with him the longest are probably old enough to be capable of playing the game in it's hardest settings, so gating him off to only the beginners is, again, not exactly fair to everyone. I personally prefer the old fashioned "easy mode, normal mode, hard mode, lunatic mode" set up that was common way before this point. I think if Kirby and the Forgotten Land can do it like that with Spring Breeze Mode and Wild Mode, I don't see why Mario can't. I still believe Wonder is one of the best 2D games Mario has had to this point, but I definitely hope the next one changes it to either modes or player settings rather than being character specific.

So, spoilers to the video: When it comes to being perfect, it means that said game/movie/book e.t.c. should be perfect. Maybe having such an easy mode in form of Yoshi being kinda invincible, could be considered a flaw, because you can beat the game so easily, but tbh, Mario games are meant to be played by everyone. Also, Yoshi is clearly optional. It's hard for me to actually say things, since i've never played SM Wonder Anyways, the existence of such easy mode seems inoffensive. So ig it is better to just let it stay. I mean, if this game is so perfect, then can that be viewed as a flaw. I mean, it seems pretty beneficial, since as i mentioned. In my opinion I love a challenging platformer and I want to play Mario. Mario Two / Japan is my favorite Mario title. The original super Mario is challenging to modern players and many do say that title did not age well and I heavily disagree on that. New Mario DS is the of the new series and Luigi U is great better then the bast title in my opinion. New Mario Two is the worst in my opinion, we can agree to disagree on that. New Mario Wii would be my second favorite of the new Mario series. My issue with Mario Wonder is it's incomplete. The bosses are all Koppa Junior and some worlds does not have bosses and the final boss is your typical Nintendo floating head / hand boss. That is disappointing in my opinion. That is why I do not like Mario Wonder but it is a good title. If I recall correctly there was an ign article About the easy mode character Nabbitt ruining her Mario Wonder experience due to him being able to phase through everything, there is that I assume. Lastly if anyone would like to play an Official Dating Mario Simulator from Nintendo, Paper Mario Wii is there if anyone can track it down.

I wouldn’t say Wonder is incomplete. I think it’s more lacking in content. There is a difference between the two terms. A game that is infused/incomplete is one that is something very glitchy/has performance issues (think Sonic 06 or Pokémon s/v) while a game that is lacking in content is one that feels like it should have had more stuff in it to begin with (think Crash Twinsanity or Mario Strikers Battle League) Mario Wonder wouldn’t be as polished or play as well as it does if it were incomplete! (Sorry for the long rant, but the fact people use “unfinished/incomplete” to describe a game lacking in content is just a pet peeve I have. Like calling a revival a reboot)
