what i find so incredibly chilling about sober(aside from its powerful message) is that Demi LITERALLY APPLIED WHAT JOE JONAS(as Shane Gray) SAID IN CAMP ROCK 10 YEARS AGO. "So here's some advice. It's not all about your image. None of it means anything unless people see who you really are. And your music has to be who you really are. It's gotta show how you feel, or it doesn't mean anything". May those words be ever so true to Demi and us all

"I'm sorry to myself." That hit me hard. TBH tho this whole song is just so emotional. I love it when artists express themselves and become vulnerable to their fans through their words, their lyrics, their songs. I just can't express the beauty of this song. I am hoping that whatever is happening to Demi she will be okay, whether this song is old or it's about an experience that just happened. I will forever love Demi for not being afraid to speak her truth.

None For All I wrote a hopefully inspiring comment for Demi and others struggling. Let’s not start things by saying darker skinned women are less than. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion but just know that my opinion is that darker skinned people are JUST as beautiful and talented as light skinned people. It’s the person not the complexion! It’s okay to express your opinion but you have to be mindful that words can have a detrimental effect on someone. It wouldn’t be nice if someone downgraded you for your skin tone or religion, etc. It’s important to be mindful of other people’s feelings and to remember that we are all the same, that is to say, humans. My light skin doesn’t mean I’m more beautiful or talented than a dark skin woman. Have a happy blessed day everyone!

It kills me to know how disappointed Demi is in herself. She finally broke her sobriety and the first thing she did was apologize for it. She feels so horrible for doing it and probably thinks that everyone else does too. She probably expects to lose fans over this and for everyone to be disappointed in her. She isn't proud of herself for staying sober for 6 years but instead disappointed in breaking sobriety after 6 years. It kills me to think about how much hate she probably gave herself because of this and I am so proud of her for staying strong for this long. When something as heartbreaking as this happens she gets out there and tells her story through a beautiful song. So please instead of leaving Demi like she thought so many people would do, stay and support this amazingly strong and talented woman.

@David Fraga the reason it'll never be better than the original is because Demi wrote it. The song itself is hers, the words come from HER heart, and it's HER emotions and experience. That's why it'll never evoke the same feeling when someone else sings it. Plus, this is a song about addiction, relapse, drugs, and that's a kid singing it. She's clearly never experienced the words from 'Sober', so there's a huge disconnect.

That is true for some things, but addiction in particular is a complex problem, not an easy fix. When dealing with ANY mental issue, you're going to struggle with always staying in control of yourself, especially when times get tough. People with mental disorders have difficulty coping with emotional problems and sometimes end up slipping back into old patterns/behaviors that make them feel better (for the moment). There is no "excuse" per se, but there IS an explanation for it... and people just aren't perfect. The most they can do is keep trying.

This is vulnerable, real, and emotional. She's only human. She makes mistakes. She isn't perfect. She goes through struggles like everyone else. I love her for being honest and real in this song when she didn't have to be. This received no promo. Literally one tweet from her and it went #1 on iTunes and has over 1.7 million views. The numbers don't matter though because this was a song for us, the fans and the people close to her. Honestly, this is better than No Tears Left To Cry. I wasn't expecting this from Demi but I still love it. It's beautiful but it's sad. If she falls we catch her. That's what fans do. I just love her so much.

This honestly breaks my heart every time I hear this song. The media has not only invalided her privacy by broadcasting the fact that she had overdosed and been sent to the hospital, but people are making memes and jokes out of the situation. This song was not only a cry for help, but it was her most raw song. As this song replays in my head I wonder why no one did nothing, and why no one realized she wasn’t okay. Drug addictions, depression, suicidal thoughts, these are all really real and serious things and have to be spoken about... and not joked about.

People did notice but you can't always help people when they are hurt like this. My mom tried everything to help me when I slipped into my addiction and it just pushed me farther away from her. It's something you have to work on on your own a lot. It's pretty rare someone else can help you out. It's like brining a horse to water. Just because you've given someone what you think they need to get better doesn't mean they are going to be able to take you up on it.

This song is everything. Honest, real, emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful. This is Demi's truth. I don't care whether you like her or not, it takes guts to come out and admit that you've relapsed after 6 years. Especially when you feel a responsibility to so many people. Listening to how sorry she is for disappointing not just her family and friends but her fans as well absolutely crushed me. She doesn't owe us anything. She never said she was perfect. She didn't lie or betray anyone. She has an ADDICTION. There is no cure for addiction. Relapse is always a possibility, it's actually very common but there's a stigma behind it. It's a part of addiction that's not really talked about except in a negative way. If you relapse you have failed. You are a failure. You are beyond saving. That is simply not true. You suffer from an ADDICTION. Relapse is a part of recovery. I'm not gonna lie, it sucks. The feelings of guilt and shame are normal. But it's not the end of the world. You CAN get through it. You are NOT a failure. You suffer from an ADDICTION. And more importantly, you are HUMAN. You are not perfect. You make mistakes but you get back up (rise from the ground like a skyscraper) and you move on. Thank you Demi for being so honest. Thank you for being you. It's okay. I love you. I am proud of you ❤

This song has been stuck in my head since I heard it 10 minutes after it was posted. I can't let it go, and I won't let it go. This is my soul song. Do you hear a song and instantly think it's so familiar it actually feels like it was written for you and meant to reach you? That is how I'm feeling now. My addictions wreaked havoc on everyone and everything in my life. I got sober and at 9 months sober, I relapsed and let myself fall again. Nobody knew. I felt so alone... I eventually pulled myself up from the ground and decided I wasn't going to die. Not like this. I had to give it another fighting chance, and I always will. I'm proud to be celebrating sobriety once again and am almost at 60 days. If you can do it, Demi, I know I can too. Lean on your fans, too. You didn't lose me the first time, or the second time, and you will never lose me. I've been with you since Get Back and As The Bell Rings. Through all this time and all of our ups and downs. I turn to your music and your spirit to give me strength and courage. You saved my life and with this song, you made me realize... I saved it too. I love you.

Oh Demi ... You have not lost your fans ...😔we still loving you BELIEVE US. Guys, I know Demi's grandfather said he wants Demi to give up of her career, because he thinks Hollywood is a mess ... I know this news has left many people sad, but guys, Demi will not do it, because this is Demi's dream, this is Demi's life: Music. And she will not stop doing what she likes, music is part of Demi and all she loves to do is sing and share this songs and this passion with other people ... Demi's songs are not ordinary songs, her songs have deep meanings and who does not realize this does not know Demi, for sure. Guys, I don't know about you, but I felt really bad, because when Demi released the song "sober" she clearly showed that she was suffering,😔 and we could have helped her, showing our affection for her, giving her strength because if we had done it maybe she was not in the rehab today ... Guys, do not judge her, she was very strong in those 6 years of sobriety, and IT'S NOT EASY to leave our addictions, but Demi has shown that it is possible and for sure that she has inspired many people. She's helped a lot of people, and now it's our turn to help her. And just because she had a relapse, does not mean that we should judge her, because if she went back to using drugs it was because something happened and we now have to try to find out why she's depressed and give her a lot of strength ... Remember that she's not just "Demi Lovato-a celebrity", first of all she's also human like us ... And all human beings should receive affection and support ... Demi is a great person and I do not admire just her because she is a celebrity ... I admire her strength and the willpower she has... But she is human, and without help she can't do it... STAY STRONG DEMI, YOU CAN 💕If you can communicate with Demi, please send this message to her💕

You are the strongest female artiste I know. After watching your “Simply Complicated” documentary, I’ve seen how much you’ve gone through. Just stay strong during these times and ask for help.❤️❤️❤️

Drug addiction is the worst thing. I’m glad I got myself together and sober.

i hate when she sings "and i try, and i try" too many times, makes it so real. I've been that way too so i know how desperate can it be to try to be ok. *heartbreaking*

Hey demi, if by some miracle if this doesn’t get lost in the 43,000 comments, I want to share something with you. I’ve been struggling with drugs (now cough syrup, pills, and liquor) ever since I was 12 and my brother convinced me pot would help with my depression. After relapsing over and over, I was embarrassed, tired, and I felt weak. But I’m getting through it and your music always helped. Sure, people who don’t love me leave. But, people who do love me seem to remember my progress first and foremost and over look my flaws. Love you demi, Good luck. Edit: I had an EP on my computer I wasn’t going to release for a couple months, but the support and love here has been so great that I wanted to release it early in hopes that some people here who are struggling with depression and addiction can find some peace of mind and / or decent advice. Good luck friends! Thanks for listening!

None For All, wow I actually can't believe people like you still exist. Take your racist comments somewhere else. This song is incredible and sooo emotional, why do people always bring race into it? I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Martin Luther King, Jr.
