Hey man. I'm just 16 and still at highschool right now, but I've been drawing my whole life, since I know myself as a human being. I've always sketched and painted mu drawings by hand, but recently I started using SktechBook Pro in the iPad to colour my art. It's doing pretty good so far. I hope to someday become an amazing Designer just like you, I've watched this entire 40min of you doing your work and I'm just amazed of how talented you really are. I really wish to someday reach your level. Very good job, I'm subscribing and watching other videos :)

@@ricocactero5412 a lot of drawing comes with time not necessarily drawing time but growing up. I used to draw all the time when I was in highschool then in my senior year for some reason I stop drawing and writing. For 2 and a half years I was just learning about business and real estate and taxes and a lot of stuff that have nothing to do with art and now I came back to it and I'm way better. I did learn a lot of anatomy on that time about muscles and working out and that might have to do with the improvements. But honestly in the business world and specially sales it's about repetition. My tip will be pic a thing you want to do. My thing is super heroes so what did I do? I spent a week drawing faces then a week in muscles then went back to faces with expressions then went back to muscles with poses which is where I'm at now after some rinse and repeat.

Also, I don't know if Brad Bird is an "artist," but he is my greatest inspiration when it comes to art. Plus he trained under one of the Nine Old Men, which is an abundance of ethos that adds to his credibility.

I'm super glad to see some amazing artists get in to playing around with Sketchbook. I'm a novice and like watching the work flow process from more skilled seasoned professionals such as yourself, and to be honest, it's almost impossible to find videos of anyone using it. Which, is really irksome. I have a huge problem in my own work, with planning out my piece because my best work always just comes to me on the fly as I go, but that's also pretty hindering because I never finish anything because I don't know where I'm going with it or what my end result is or should be... So I'll work work work in this crazy zone until I stop to do real life things or I get bored and I'll never wind up feeling like I want to work on it because I'm lost so I'll start some new idea. So I guess that's what I'd like to ask, tips of finding direction. Oh also you should try the synthetic blending brushes, just like oil paints, quite amazing because the colors blend together as you go. Thanks for the inside look, love love love the work! As soon as I started watching and saw the SciFi vibe with the chick, I was sold.

The robot is actually outstanding. I like it so much that I am hesitating to steal the idea. Nah, I'm kidding, I don't steal ideas, but I like it so much. Especially this purple fading in the area behind Hanna Solo and of course the intense green in its eyes that makes such good color contrast. I'm blown this time... for real. It appears that staying in your comfort zone makes out incredible results. :)

impressive artwork, as usual, Trent. the part of you that makes me more jealous is your confidence in "irregular" brushes. I tend to sketch all my drawings with a soft round brush and then lineart and colour with very rough, very precise pencils. The outcome is ok, but it lacks the good-old-school painting feeling your artworks have. About sci-fi artists, my all time favourite is HR giger, and all his alien stuff.

If one pick up a copy of Star Wars art & illustration books, you will see some of best si-fi artists work in full display. McCaig & McQuarrie's artworks, I believe are in there too. What's fascinating besides great digital illustration & painting is the thought process involved by designers/ illustrators/ matte painters. Who can do all this fun stuff on the fly. There is no overnight sensation in art. It takes a long time, constantly improving their craft to reach this point. Like a true blues musician, you knows blues because you have paid your dues.
@CaptainPecato

Goffy Uno I couldn't agree more about the thought process. Whenever I draw I enjoy making the series of decisions needed to complete it. As I'm still very early on in my learning, it's almost more important than what it ends up looking like. If I learn to make good decisions then the end product will be something I can be proud of. Trying to apply that to life too. :)

Autodesk Sketchbook Pro is probably the nicest program you could ever use on a Cintiq, regular tablet users might not like it, and mouse users shouldn't even bother. this program is meant for Cintiqs those 2 'pucks' are used for adjusting everything about your brush, without ever needing to use the toolbars outside of changing tools. the lagoon in the corner does everything you could ever need by clicking and dragging in different direction to use functions. one changes brush size and opacity, while the other is a color picker and adjuster than while dragging it you can adjust the luminosity and saturation which is great for unifying your artwork's pallet and making subtle adjustments to your colors if you didn't pick it right the first time. TL;DR SKetchbook is awesome
