Just want to say how wonderful it was to spend time with Shawn as he recorded these Judge Wolfe guitars. It is equally wonderful working with Judge to choose the woods, specs, and watch the process. These guitars are far better than my skill requires, but it is a great joy to own and share them.

@@vernonyates8408 man it was a true pleasure for me to get to know you better, and of course to examine more of Judge’s guitars. You and he are both wonderfully talented people, and I look forward to us being able to spend more time together, assuming I can be tolerated by you both. 😃

There are days when I find a dread too big/loud, and the OM to be just the ticket. Shawn, I really liked your playing change-up on this perfect Judge Wolfe OM hog.

@@paulboden7850 thank you very much as always Paul. Yeah, it’s always nice to be able to do something a little bit different. I get sick of the same repertoire, but on the other hand, it allows people to compare and contrast various guitars, because of the same material, otherwise I would have quit on those songs a really long time ago lol. 😂 when a small body comes through the door, I know I have the latitude to do something different, and boy do I love it lol.

I HAVE A BURNING QUESTION FOR SHAWN AND WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE ANSWER!!! OF ALL THE AMAZING ACOUSTIC GUITARS.. FROM VARIOUS AMAZING BUILDERS.. FROM EVERY DECADE THE PAST CENTURY..."IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONLY 1 GUITAR AS A KEEPER FOR LIFE.. WHAT WOULD YOU PICK?????" 😄
@ShawnBrockMusic3 ай бұрын
@@Chris-pb4jo man that is one that I just simply can’t answer. I have played thousands upon thousands of guitars, and hundreds that I would have been satisfied playing all the time. I have not even been able to narrow it down to a specific species of wood. I played the same mahogany and red spruce guitar from 1997 until 2020, on about 90% of the Acoustic work I did through those years, and now it just sits on a stand. That tells me either Guitars have gotten better, or I have become more whimsical, or more likely, both.

Hey Shawn, I have to ask. What is the riff you play around the 5:03 mark? Is it something you made up or an actual song? It always reminds me of the Candlebox song, “Far Behind” or maybe a Prince song. Love your videos. Take care.

Shawn, is there a specific type of strings that you prefer on all of these mahogany and Adirondack guitars you have been playing?
@vernonyates84083 ай бұрын
Not necessarily what Shawn uses on his personal guitars, but this OM-18 #28 has Martin MA140 (80/20 light gauge). The D-18 #29 has Martin MA150 (80/20 medium gauge). The D-28 #27 has Martin MA550 (phosphor bronze medium gauge).
@ShawnBrockMusic3 ай бұрын
@@johnwashburn3793 man most of the time I use D’Addario XS phosphor bronze medium, 13-56.

Thanks for this information. I have used a variety of strings on various guitars. At present I have Martin Retros on my D-18GE and whatever came up my CEO-7 gets replaced on it. I often use Elixir Nanoweb on some.

I would be more specific but I cannot read the pack of strings, even with a magnifier. Perhaps you can relate. Life is grand!
