This is posturing. If they did this, it would be much harder for them to migrate and for the Caribbean expats living in the UK to send remittances back to family in these island countries.

@I The Haitians sure don't seem capable of it. Granted, virtually all power in Haiti has always been the domain of a few elites who have been as greedy an corrupt as anyone on the planet. The rest of the country suffers as a result. They don't have to migrate either way. If they all migrate, there's no way they can develop their own countries. A major crisis for British commonwealth nations is brain-drain. Whether Nigeria or Bahamas, the most ambitious and high-skilled people often leave for US, UK, France, Germany, Canada. Why should we expect them to improve if they keep leaving their homelands to chase a buck? (Or a pound)

Citizen of the Commonwealth here. We do rule ourselves. Our connection to the UK is ceremonial and VOLUNTARY. But it also offers support to small nations. When hurricane Dorian battered two of our islands in The Bahamas the British navy was waiting offshore before the storm left. The Bahamas never suffered through such a dangerous or catastrophic storm; this was the first time our people ever died from hurricane. The support of the UK as a Commonwealth partner was vital for a small nation and a archipelago that never dealt with a disaster of that magnitude.

I am a 41-year-old man that was born and raised in Dominica until age 17. My father worked on a plantation in the village where I was born, as did his father before him. Colonialism isn't a thing of the past. The reverberations are still felt today. The royal family continues to benefit from all they pillaged in the West Indies and beyond. These atrocities need to be made right and any semblance of their presence needs to be banished from the West Indies.

The problem is with a lot of you key board warriors is that you have not been on the ground and witnessed the great economic opportunities these investments generate. i am not just speaking of jobs but Jamaican business owners and entrepreneurs that have grown and flourished in this environment. Look at the medallion worn by the Governor General of Jamaica, a white angel standing on the back of a black man who represents the devil, so the black man is depicted as the devil and the white man an angel. It was not until the incident of George Floyd and the white policemen that kneeled on his back and murdered him that the Jamaica governor realize what he was wearing around his neck to represent the Queen. It is symbolic of oppression. Shame on the British monarch. How can a country be a member of the commonwealth and yet need visas to enter England. There are lots of scars there, take for instance the Windrush generation and what Britain is doing to these Caribbean people who were taken from their homeland to fight world war 11, taken back to their countries then brought back to England to rebuild a country which was devastated, a country without skilled workers, a country with structures of pure shell. These Windrush generation worked without having decent place to lay their heads to make Britain great again. It’s time for all these commonwealth countries to move on

This is the truth I have experienced. I am in my 50s and I remember my grandparents especially my grandmother working on an estate under harsh supervision that even a minute late is subtracted from her pay. She along with other parents worked the lands; clearing weeds and harvesting cocoa, banana and nutmeg. I picked up her wages every fortnight (Fridays afternoons)and it was pennies in my view. Men got more than women for working the same job and doing the same time. I remember barely collecting over $25.00 a FORTNIGHT. All the money went to England. I was young but old enough to understand how wrong it was. I felt hurt for my grandmother because I knew she was overworked and under paid. NOW, TELL ME THIS. HOW DOES ANYONE EXPECT ME TO FEEL THE LOST FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS NEVER THERE FOR ME NOR THERE FOR MY PEOPLE IN THE FIRST PLACE? To be honest. What or whom am I supposed to be mourning for? HOW COULD I *LOST A LOVE I NEVER HAD* The Europeans have all right to mourn their queen because she broke down doors, stole lands and stole resources for them. But as for me, she had done nothing but her and her family destroyed the lives of mllions of my people. This is my truth and I will stuck to it.

Africans and the people of the African Diaspora have long understood the collective economic model. We aspire to rise up as an entire people, to be free of the division that is inherent in the european and his individualistic ideology. The Jews don't forget and remind us everyday of the Holocaust and they have hunted Nazi war criminals until this day. Shall we forget and we strive on because we are the living. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Jamaica is not free. Jamaica is owned by England. It may be given the appearance of Independence but they are not free. Jamaica cannot stand on its own look at the value of the dollar. If Jamaica would have remained under England they would be in a better position today. The fact of the matter is those that created the treaty during that time the agreement for the separation was not knowledgeable in understanding what they were actually doing and as a result trickery took place and other countries are making money while Jamaica is suffering. Simple fact, how can Jamaica grow banana and Export banana but still must import banana so that it is available to the people. You don't understand the trickery of these contracts.

Can you guess where it's planned to be centrally controlled and who its top 5000 ± ∆∆î$£€ade®s include? Which countries most dominate and veto? Since you feel so free, the audience can expect specific answers from you here, soon, right. No doubt you are clever enough to figure out a way to post without instantaneous banning, or shortly thereafter, upon being snitched out by those drones, organic and inorganic, NOT thinking like The ‡€®®0®Ï$‡$, ie, those not 100% loyal to either horn The PPP Party B$.

Muppet. I'm guessing your comment is serious. One of the smallest places in the world has destroyed all those massive places. Is that because the natives are weak or is it because you destroyed them yourselves but need to pass the blame because you never find yourselves accountable for any of your actions.

@@aaon3685 Your allegiance to a country that STILL disrespects you, killing your children shooting them like dogs in the street, killing your women in childbirth, locking you up for weed, STEALING your neighborhoods through gentrification, burning down your towns etc... The fact that you see yourself as "Foundational Black" and not as an AFRICAN descendant, speaks of why your STILL oppressed🙄 your oppression is connected to ALL African people. It's an American project, global whyt supremacist mythology project.
