@I The Haitians sure don't seem capable of it. Granted, virtually all power in Haiti has always been the domain of a few elites who have been as greedy an corrupt as anyone on the planet. The rest of the country suffers as a result. They don't have to migrate either way. If they all migrate, there's no way they can develop their own countries. A major crisis for British commonwealth nations is brain-drain. Whether Nigeria or Bahamas, the most ambitious and high-skilled people often leave for US, UK, France, Germany, Canada. Why should we expect them to improve if they keep leaving their homelands to chase a buck? (Or a pound)

Citizen of the Commonwealth here. We do rule ourselves. Our connection to the UK is ceremonial and VOLUNTARY. But it also offers support to small nations. When hurricane Dorian battered two of our islands in The Bahamas the British navy was waiting offshore before the storm left. The Bahamas never suffered through such a dangerous or catastrophic storm; this was the first time our people ever died from hurricane. The support of the UK as a Commonwealth partner was vital for a small nation and a archipelago that never dealt with a disaster of that magnitude.

Look at the medallion worn by the Governor General of Jamaica, a white angel standing on the back of a black man who represents the devil, so the black man is depicted as the devil and the white man an angel. It was not until the incident of George Floyd and the white policemen that kneeled on his back and murdered him that the Jamaica governor realize what he was wearing around his neck to represent the Queen. It is symbolic of oppression. Shame on the British monarch. How can a country be a member of the commonwealth and yet need visas to enter England. There are lots of scars there, take for instance the Windrush generation and what Britain is doing to these Caribbean people who were taken from their homeland to fight world war 11, taken back to their countries then brought back to England to rebuild a country which was devastated, a country without skilled workers, a country with structures of pure shell. These Windrush generation worked without having decent place to lay their heads to make Britain great again. It’s time for all these commonwealth countries to move on

I am in my 50s and I remember my grandparents especially my grandmother working on an estate under harsh supervision that even a minute late is subtracted from her pay. She along with other parents worked the lands; clearing weeds and harvesting cocoa, banana and nutmeg. I picked up her wages every fortnight (Fridays afternoons)and it was pennies in my view. Men got more than women for working the same job and doing the same time. I remember barely collecting over $25.00 a FORTNIGHT. All the money went to England. I was young but old enough to understand how wrong it was. I felt hurt for my grandmother because I knew she was overworked and under paid. NOW, TELL ME THIS. HOW DOES ANYONE EXPECT ME TO FEEL THE LOST FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS NEVER THERE FOR ME NOR THERE FOR MY PEOPLE IN THE FIRST PLACE? To be honest. What or whom am I supposed to be mourning for? HOW COULD I *LOST A LOVE I NEVER HAD* The Europeans have all right to mourn their queen because she broke down doors, stole lands and stole resources for them. My brother at the end, I appreciate you for saying it how it is. Vive la revolution! This revolution is mental. It's subtle, it will be done with love and it will last for a long while. It's worth dying for. It's worth fighting for. It's worth sacrificing for. It's the reason why we are born in our time. It is our duty to make the dream a reality for those who will follow and we ourselves will come back and enjoy the fruits of our own labor according to the nature law. The universal laws that govern all things. I believe

Have you ever been to Montego Bay where these properties are owned then go to Kingston that has been abandoned to the locals! Its two different Worlds. The problem is with a lot of you key board warriors is that you have not been on the ground and witnessed the great economic opportunities these investments generate. i am not just speaking of jobs but Jamaican business owners and entrepreneurs that have grown and flourished in this environment.
