I see robotics having an impact on many parts of the world in dealing with not having enough younger workers. Look at the new McDonald's restaurant that has 100% front and rear operations done by robots, it is a test but it can be done. I'm a robotics & mechatronics engineer so am excited by these developments. Your predictions for several decades out will definitely be off as there are systems being developed that will create systemic changes in manufacturing.

the recipe for greater fertility in the modern age is well-known and works, to some extent, in France and Sweden. Introduce good childcare so that parents, especially mothers, can return to work after one year. Better housing, so that kids have enough space, and that grandparents can move nearbye to help out. Make your country immigration-friendly, so that foreigners with kids come. Maybe, as they do in Israel, make it easier for everybody to have kids, even those in same-sex relationships. If you reach replacement value, that doesn't mean that your country is not going to shrink for another few decades. But it does mean stabilization at some time in the future.

It's amazing that we get to be so involved in this Globalized World. Our Grand Fathers, and Great Grand Fathers never had this much access to information for free. Majority of them probably didn't even know what the Central Banks and Government were doing during their time, let alone the Geo-Politics of their time. Most of them were focused on their Job, or Business, and probably never cared much about Economy or Geo-Politics beyond a few tad-bits once in a while. We on the other hand get constant information on Geo-Politics, and the Country's current Political environment. It's crazy.

He has several lectures on YT, many an hour or so long, and spread out over several years. He often says a lot of the same things, because truth is truth, and he also repeats a lot of his dad jokes. But there is new content from video to video, making them worth the watch. Here's a short one from a few years ago that describes precisely why Russia is invading Ukraine today. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJzYmYp3bqyXedE Here's a longer one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3rHhoanqN9jf9E Of course PZ was wrong about how long the war in Ukraine would last. He admits that in the last 6 months or so, but he still thinks this war is Russia's to lose. I don't see Russia winning. He's not omniscient but he did say that Russia would need to invade Ukraine by 2022, which they did. That alone is freakishly accurate.

She wondered bc there were so many & there was Turkish food everywhere. Indonesia was mentioned as occupying the lower rungs of industrialization. We should partner more with them to help them develop & have a free trade agreement a la Colombia. The Nahtuna Islands would be perfect for a US naval base. Even though it outside the 9-dash line the Chinese are claiming it anyway bc it’s at the mouth of Malacca Strait but it outside the 9-dash, that would ruin their day.

Brazil will have a hard time getting unstuck. Brazilians bellow the age of 40 are mass emigrating to Europe,. They have a big problem with crime and corruption which is only getting worse. And education and work ethic are poor to say the least. IMHO the only things they have in their favor are the size of the population and the natural resources. It's a country with great potential, but they will have to better educate their population and solve the internal problems to prevent the young from fleeing the contry.

I would like to know how the evolution of AI will affect the evolution of demographics? In other words, will AI prolong the viability of an aging society? Will it help those countries with young demographics, or will it leave an increasing number of people in poverty? AI is going to increase productivity dramatically as well as the utilization of natural resources and allotment of materials for production. I would proffer, that would have a beta effect on the evolution of demographics. But to what degree, both positive and negative?

I have a question: Your videos are great, lots of information. With the shrinking demand and population, I assume growth will drop, r & d will drop etc. Do we need to grow out of the problem to advance our society eg develop even more technology, support bigger populations, alleviate the effects of climate change. Whats the rate of birth rate change that needs to be supported?

I slightly disagree with Peter here on being bullish on the US demographics. The stats seems to suggest that fewer and fewer people are getting married (basically because the laws are weighted against men so they just are not getting married) This has a knock on effect into the system where there will be fewer children - and many of those that do come along will be to single parent households - and that brings it's own economic burdens.
@serafinacosta7118

The ripple effect won’t be felt within 40 years. And the counterbalancing comes from immigration. Whose off springs will get married and bear more than one child.

I could be wrong, but just intuitively it doesn't seem that demographics will be as strongly determinative as he thinks. Robotics, AI, nanotechnology and other developing, evolving and emerging technologies are likely to change the game. And there is always the mutant goose, the wild card, the unanticipated newcomer technology, lurking among the unknowns of the future.
