Hate to be the downer, but you're probably going to have to bring all of the stuff you take to the Coles county airport back with you again. I've yet to see any Illinois EPA events accept anything that didn't come out of a residential dwelling. Buddy of mine tried to bring stuff to one in a quantity that was a dead giveaway it couldn't have come from a household. It brought a whole bunch of govt attention on him and made life hellish for quite a while, so watch out for that! On a more positive note, I love watching the progress you've made so far on this building! Looking great!

Getting some serious flashbacks to a place I worked in the 1990s that once had been the HQ for a big auto parts place that then was bought out and HQ moved to the other company main building. It was about a 35,000 sq ft building/warehouse, but the auto parts store we had there was just using the front 3000 sq ft or so. So all the offices and other rooms in the back had just been left. 1940s/50s offices were still intact with art deco furniture, wood paneling, and red shag carpeting, and even personal belongings of the former employees, it was really strange. Also shelves and shelves of OEM auto parts in the warehouse, pretty much fully stocked still just setting there, parts for cars all the way back to the 1930's at least. Man I miss that place, at the time as a young kid I did not really appreciate all that history there.
@spamanator6669 ай бұрын
It's all been leveled now, and a much bigger warehouse distribution center put in its place. All that great old furniture and old parts left there too, all demolished and taken to the landfill.

I hate moving things more than once as well. The loading dock area where the forklift is currently would be a great place for a 20 or 30 yard dumpster so you could put waste that couldn't be sold, salvaged, burned, or scrapped. Then when it's full they can exchange it. Right now it seems you're handling waste multiple times. The dumpster being inside the loading dock will keep others from dumping in it. Scrapyards will also provide scrap dumpsters if desired. Also, that tongue and groove wall boards we called carsiding since it resembled what was used on old boxcars.
@sparks8699 ай бұрын
I agree. Not valuing time is Chris' biggest enemy. Need to get into a "move once" process for everything. . Maybe move the trailer into the loading dock so the scrap can just be dumped on it directly. If you're keeping stuff for the building start building out permanent storage spaces so it's all moved once.

After WWII, the populace went for a soothing color, and mint green obviously filled the bill. It was used not only in factories, but also in hospitals. "Green is a restful and quiet color. Because it symbolizes nature, green is one of the most beautiful and comforting colors that attracts harmonious feelings that can diffuse anxiety and helps us stay calm and refreshed. Beige greens and pale yellow-greens are the most stress- reducing shades in the green family."

Mint green color Art Deco period 1919 and then 1950s, the shade went through the second wave of popularity. After World War II, everything from kitchenware to cars. Bead board is the wood style. Wainscot is usually along a wall from the floor up to 36" in height and then topped by a chair rail. Wainscot is often done using beadboard but not always.

No need to carry all that heavy stuff across that big of a distance in the building. Just use your new bicycle and the basket. Also, in regards to getting the building cleared out it's going to cost you more money in gas and your time to have all that stuff recycled then it would be to just call one of your local people who scraps and see if they'll just come pick it all up and load it up and haul it away. I wish I was closer because I would start a go fund me to help you raise some dumpster money and pay for a couple of people to do some day labor and get that third floor cleaned out in record time.

Regarding your scrap metal heap and to save double handling by you and particularly the scrap dealer I suggest you start separating the types of metal. Make one for stainless steel. Another for aluminium or as you would say aluminum (😊).. Another for lightweight. And another for heaviest Steele such as beams and posts. And finally one for mixed or contaminated (Timber and or plastics, etc. Still attached to the metal) items. The scrap metal dealer Will probably pay you different amounts for each of the above. If you don’t resort or separate. You’ll get paid at the lowest level.

An upright filing cabinet like that will sell for about 20 bucks. You're going to need it. Remember when that building is fully done your property taxes are going up. You're going to need someone paying some rent to cover. As a consequence you are going to have paper to file. But if you have a lot of filing cabinets 20 bucks is the number. Haven't you made a central command office somewhere in that building yet for management tasks???

Regarding the hole from the fan in the wall: you have a lot of plywood sheets from the panel removal, repere the cut up original panels with that material. Do you save the undamaged big sheaths of plywood? Should be good material for skateboarding ramps or something or as forms for concrete pours ,save the intact bigger sheaths and give the stuff( you will not need your self ) to someone(s) that can do something creative that benefits the local community with it. The brown panelling can be used as form skin if a textured Surface is wanted on a concrete structure. I bet you will find a receiver for the bigger intact pieces of decor paneling, if you collect A pile of them.

The old fluorescent light fixtures with electromagnetic balasts have very good Life span compered to newer electronic balast fixtures. If the tubes aren't burned out in the ends you should keep some of them. Lights that you have are lights you don't need to buy . The bad safety reputation of old fluorescent lights ,comes mostly from situations where no one has cared to replace bad tubes and starters, causing overheating in the balast. The fluorescent fixtures are becoming to be a thing that will have "culture value" now when led lights are taking over .
