I think we're almost reversed on this one from Howling Dark! I enjoyed and liked the philosophy stuff, but hot damn the action and the politics in this one...

I feel like my Sun Eater opinions may be the deviant opinions in our BookTube circle 😂

I am almost finished with Demon in White and my opinion is very similar to yours. I think I prefer Howling Dark to it.

Really looking forward to your next reviews of the series. Kingdoms of Death is easily the most affecting book I've read it'll linger in my soul forever and Disquiet Gods is the lore book, you get all the answers. I haven't read Hyperion so those bits didn't strike me odd.

Since recording this video (yesterday) I have now read 25% of Kingdoms of Death and I'm LOVING it

I also preferred Howling Dark. Don't get me wrong, DiW is fantastic and is packed full of great stuff. I just felt like the events happening in HD were more compelling, especially as a follow up to EoS. (The Quiet stuff and Hadrian's "demigodhood", as well as his character development beforehand, as he is around 100 waking years older was really cool, though.) I feel like DiW was more... disjointed? At least in certain places. Idk, Hadrian rushes around to quite a few different places towards the end and it felt slightly abrupt, but its a minor criticism.

I agree and having now read Kingdoms of Death I think it's a massive improvement in that regard on DiW.

I was going to be really mad at you, but I understand the flaws you mentioned 😁

I love this book but I agree that the final action sequence is over long and, at least for me, a little confusing. The big Ruocc-slide at the end of Howling Dark is way more compelling

Ruocc-slide, I like that one

It's hard to give such an obviously brilliant book the equivalent of four stars. What are some books you've felt conflicted about?
