Fun fact: Rengoku actually trained Mitsuri. Love breathing is an off shoot of flame breathing, so his teaching helped her develop her own unique style. This is covered in a manga special about how Rengoku became a Hashira. Their relationship is honestly very sweet and i wish we could have gotten more of it in the main story.

She was even training to be the Flame Hashira Tsuguko/successor! If the animators have the time, this would be the arc to add a little flashback to that (esp with Rengoku being a fan favorite).

the nature of the length of the manga really hurt Rengoku he died at a good time story wise but had so much more to offer as a character. though he works very well as a flashback character to see how he impacted so many people

No spoilers, this is all information from the anime: Tanjiros dad is called Tanjuro we know this from earlier seasons. The person that looks like Tanjiro in the dream is called Sumiyoshi. So it is not Tanjiros dad. We don't really know who it is but most likely one of his ancestors. The dream could be 500 years ago, we simply don't know. We know that sun breathing is the first breathing style and the person that looks like the upper moon 1 demon wears sun breather earrings in the dream.

34:38 Just wanted to clarify this convo, as far as I understood it, Muzan was the one who went to Tanjiro's house, killed everyone and turned Nezuko. Tanjiro memorized the scent he picked up when he found his family dead, commited it to memory and then he smelled THE EXACT SAME SMELL when he was in Tokyo for the first time and followed that scent that led him straight to Muzan. It was not the Upper 1 that killed Tanjiro's family, Muzan did that personally. My theory as to why is because he is trying to stamp out anyone who knows how to do Sun breathing, as it was the only form that got super close to actually ending Muzan.

idk obviously conversations hard since manga is over and the answers are all out there. but when i saw it i dont think it was him going after sun breathers i think he just happened to be there. a few flaws would be why make a demon out of nezuko when hes just there to kill. also muzan is heavily seen to not do the dirty work he would have sent an upper moon at best. he talks down about them all the time but he would have entrusted them to kill a random family. if he thought the family was to strong for an upper moon he definitely wouldnt have walked right in given his fear of death. all signs point to just random chance. he was just out making demons as he does

Muzan DID kill them by random chance, but he also did hunt down sun breathers himself Spoilers for (kind of) manga, not important though Muzan and Kokushibo (upper 1) did hunt down basically every single sun breather they heard about or thought possible after Muzan learned of the original sun breathers death.

I noticed some confusion about the moment where Muzan had taken off Gyokkos head. Just to clear up some confusion, in this universe all the of the demons can survive having their heads removed, as long as the blow was not dealt by a nichirin sword. *Don't forget what the swordsman with the hanafuda earrings said in that memory: he has no heirs.

Little thing you got wrong, tanjiro did not "smelled a really strong demon, and then found out it was muzan", he REMEMBERED muzan's smell, because his smell was all over tanjiro's house when he found his dead family, and then found out there is only one demon that can turn humans, so he knew it was muzan

Im not a manga reader so i dont know who the identity of upper one is but you havent even considered the idea that upper one isnt the guy in the flashback. Lots of things make more sense that way. Also muzan was the one thst killed tanjiro family and turned nezuko into a demon, and only he can turn people into demons. We learned that in season 1.

The thing about the whole thing in theaters though, it was NEVER said to be a movie. They from the jump said it was gonna be the last 2 episodes of season 2 and then the first episode of season 3. It wasn’t number 1 who went to Tanjiro’s house and killed her family and turned Nezuko, it was Muzan, Uzan is the only demon that can turn humans into demons. (Except Tamayo who learned it after years of experimenting) And Muzan meant to kill everyone but Nezuko survived by accident and because some of Muzans blood got into her wounds she became a demon, so she is a complete accident.

The reason nezuko was turned and the others killed is because muzan's blood, if too much for the person to handle, kills the person, if they can hade the blood, they turn into a demon. We've seen this with the trio in asakusa that muzan attacked, the woman he gave his blood but she died from it

the manga has 205 chapters. season 3 episode 2 adapted chapters 102, 103 and 104, so he are officially halfway through the story. the next two arcs after the swordsmith village arc together (9 chapters and 47 chapters) are roughtly as long as season 1 (53 chapters) was. so one 2-cour season (24-26 episodes), or they split it up. the last arc (22 chapters) is a little bit too long for a movie adaptation (mugen train arc was 16 chapters), unless they go for a 2 - 2 1/2 hour movie. so a short 10 episode final (5th) season.

The upper moon 1 is Kokushibo, the twin brother of Yoriichi that Tanjiro has been seeing. They're not related to him, but Tanjiro's ancestor Sumiyoshi from sengoku era has been given the earings and the hinokami kagura dance. The closest relative of Kokushibo and Yoriichi is Tokito Muichiro.

In regards to the theater thing, they actually did advertise it'd play the last 2 episodes of the Entertainment District with the first Swordsmith Village arc episode. However, the main issue was that it they didn't edited and stitched it together, so you'd have to sit through two separate ending credits and a bunch of repeated stuff. It was more like the episodes were being autoplayed back to back rather than it being one conventional long feature, so while they're fine on their own, it wasn't really the best movie experience so to say.

I haven't read the manga this is just how I pieced it together from watching the show. That dream Tanjiro had was of a Grandfather or Great Grandfather not his Father. That baby was probably Tanjiros dad or Grandfather. We know his Dads name is Tanjuro, and the name That Earing guy called the Tanjiro lookalike in the dream was Sumiyoshi so its not Tanjiros dad. Now my one major speculation I got from watching these 2 episodes, they talked a lot about blood lines, family lines, ancestry and sibling relationships these 2 episodes so something tells me that the Upper 1 and the guy we saw in Tanjiros dream are 2 different people, namely either Twins OR a descendent of that Upper 1 demon that wants to rid his family and clan of the blemish of having one of them become a demon when they swore to wipe demons out, he just didn't succeed in his mission and decided to pass down what he knows(Along with his earrings) in the hopes that one day someone could succeed where he couldn't. just like the leader of the Demon Slayer Corp. Also I think it was purposeful that they Made Tanjiro's ancestor look so much like him, to show that decedents can look almost exactly like one of their ancestors. Regardless, I cant wait to see what twists and turns this season takes us on!

The last death was probably someone’s rank being replaced. Also, Kokushiba could’ve become a demon more than 113 years ago and only become an upper rank that long ago. Or the last replacement could’ve been Daki and Gyutaro. Really, it could go a few different ways, these are just explanations for some of the things you seem to be confused about.

I saw it in theaters, can confirm it was a good time! ALSO my theory is that the scene with the Tanjiro lookalike was 113 years ago and upper one gave his iconic earrings to Tanjiro great-whatever grandfather before almost dying in an epic battle and being forced to become a demon as he was about to die. So maybe Tanjiro’s ancestor was taught some stuff by upper one before his demon change. 😮

This was this episode had a theatrical release pared with the last 2 episodes of season 2 (the finally of the Gyutaro and Daki fight) so it had a somewhat seamless transition. the thing is that it was specifically advertised as such , but people don't know how to read so they thought it was another Mugen Train type deal where they make a movie of an entire arc. I personally really enjoyed it and really only went to watch it to see that final S2 fight in a theater lol, everything else was a bonus.

I don't think we know if Muzan killed Tanjiro's family intentionally. We saw them dead, and blood everywhere, but it is entirely possible that all of them were injected with demon blood to turn them, but Nezuko was the only one who survived. The rest just had their bodies torn apart from the inside. Also, look at the Flame Hashira bloodline--there are some families which are just carbon copies of each other, and Tanjiro's might be one of these.

It's amazing that Tanjiro isn't the weakest character. Normally a character like him who is almost the embodiment of just being a good person wouldn't make for an interesting character. It's a similar thing with Deku from My Hero Academia. I'm not entirely sure why they are good characters who are never boring, but my theory is that they are surrounded by more complex characters to make their goodness stand out more. To be the beckon of light in a world of darkness. But I also think that their personalities are made to be so caring and likable that it's hard to hate them.

This is the 2nd to last big arc, (there is the hashira training arc too but it's like 4 chapters max) so I'd assume season 4 will be the last unless they split the last arc into two seasons which I could see.

I think the anime will have 5 or 6 seasons. There are only 2 arcs left, but the last arc is very long, so they can do one season of 26 episodes, or 2 seasons of 11 episodes each P.S.
