You can swap initial starting zone by turning in the FIRST quest you already have after the tutorial and NOT taking the quest after. From there it will highlight each starting zone with a quest -- you just have to run there (for those that are dead set on questing and joining up with friends)

Just a quick correction about point #2, if you complete the Quest Sole Survivor, collect the Duelist boots, and then leave the conversation. You are now free to run over to your friend's zone and continue the quest line in that zone. Again, complete the quest SOLE SURVIVOR, collect the BOOTS, then click LEAVE. DO NOT accept the next quest after accepting the boots. You can confirm you did it correctly (before making the trip to your friends) by opening your map after clicking leave, you should then see quest markers on all the Watch Tower locations. This worked in closed beta and open beta.

@@DemoneKim No worries. People online kept telling me the same thing after closed and I was finally able to test it out in open and it does work. Another tip: If you do miss the Sole Survivor opportunity and accept the quest after it there is another quest that breaks the questline town locks called, "Bearer of Bad Tidings" (it's the quest where the person at the watch Tower tells you to take news to the person in the Town Hall). Same as with Sole Survivor you complete the quest (Bearer of Bad Tidings) but don't take the quest after it then you're free to pick up the main story line at any of the other settlements (like with Sole Survivor you can check your map for the quest markers before you leave to make sure you did it correctly). Some people in my group (especially those who spawned in First Light) liked doing the quest lines up to "Bearer of Bad Tidings" because then they had a better shot of making the run to Everfall than if they were running straight from the Watch Tower with nothing but a sword. I personally liked moving zones right after Sole Survivor because 1) I'm comfortable navigating the map at a low level and 2) by the time I make it to Everfall's Watch Tower (from where ever I spawn) I tend to be level 7 already (I noticed in the open beta that I got to level 3 just from exploration XP not even picking herbs or hemp along the way). But to each their own.

In general I agree with you in everything except of 2 points. 1st Tools: 1.1 Azoth extraction is pretty pointless in the beginning, since you're capped in azoth most of the time anyway. 1.2 You dont have the gathering speed/gs to really profit from the azoth extraction perk. 1.3 If you wanna have a perk go for the discipline perk, since it helps you to lvl up gathering faster. 1.4 You have enough iron from the main quest rewards to craft yourself one or two iron tools 1.5 NEVER EVER BUY IRON TOOLS for more than 20g, at least in the beginning. Flint tools have 100% gather speed, Iron does have 125%-129%. That's barely an increase and you can craft them very easily yourself. 2nd items: 2.1 If you sell them, use 1 day trading contracts. 2.2 Barely anyone looks for gear until he hits lvl 12. Then the lvling speed decreases and mobs become harder to kill. 2.3 Just sell pure stat goods or combinations with constitution 2.4 It's not worth the time to put up the tradeoffers in general. Go out collect 100 wood and sell them and you'll have a higher average yield in the same time.

The irony of finding crafted gathering tools with Azoth Extraction at the market place is that the crafted tools themselves mostly need Azoth when crafting them to have a higher chance to find the perk itself so the crafters will have to spend Azoth to have a higher chance to get the perk on their crafted tools meaning that these tools will be pretty expensive and pretty rare early on in the game. Also a huge money maker. p.s thank you for making these awesome videos that can teach us so much

The tip about not flagging for PvP in the beginning is very useful. First day of the open beta, lots of groups roaming around and pretty much impossible to do PvP missions as a solo. Second day there weren't as many groups around and I was able to do some missions.

My 2cents after a few hundred hours, get to a faction asap, take a bunch of quests (faction, town board etc) 4+ and map out an efficient route, then kill/skin/mine as you go. Do the quick easy town quests at first. Keep an eye out for iron to upgrade tools early, around lvl 12 u can craft some decent iron weapons w/bonuses pretty easily. go to map and turn in area or town rewards for bonus XP, dont drop skins or wood or stone go process and then drop if u want. Cook food in town or at camp when u can to heal. I dont keep much gear I salvage as much as I can to repair good gear. If ur traveling far out set up a camp before u die and have to rerun. use ur inn recall, fast travel when u can, die and go back to a camp u set up in between quests, whatever u can do to save time. I wasted a lot of time exploring, u go to all these places anyways, its a lot of time management to level efficiently. If u want a break from running around go mine stone or cut trees, process it and ull level skills quickly. Try to help each other out when u can.

Tip for Starting with friends: I tested in Open beta turning in the first quest, don’t grab anymore, then running to the zone you want to be in. It does work! Though the journey is tough as you’ll run past some high level mobs, just keep running/keep your distance. Then talk to the NPC similar to the one you started at in that other starter zone & off you go. It will burn up a ton of your start time dodging mobs & running for a bit. I am sill on the fence if I’m going to do this or not. ❤️🤘

Not worth doing imo. By the time you finish running over, your friends would be a few levels ahead already, and gathering skills would be lower as well as you were doing such a long run. Just better to level up in whatever starter zone you started in, then meet up around lev 8-10+.

Hey man I love your videos, please keep them coming! I Just wanted to point out that tip number 2 is not entirely correct. You actually CAN make it so that you have the same starter zone as a friend. During the intro quest line when you are sent to your starter zone WW, MB etc. if you look on the map you can see that the quest can be turned in at any of the 4 zones. You are not locked into the zone that they designate for you. As long as you are careful, and do not speed through the quest turn in / pick up you have a small window of opportunity to go to which ever zone you choose. I personally plan to use this method to ensure I get either WW or Everfall on launch.

I found quite the opposite so far flagging for pvp. I am almost always flagged and rarely ever see people that are flagged. Just my experience the past few days. Mistake number two you pointed out is kinda wrong on your side, cuz u can actually go and start a questline at any of the 4 starter towns without having to go back to where you originally spawned

And before any of ya'll say its not possible, ive done it. How? - Spawn after the tutorial. - Go to relevant watchtower NPC - DO NOT spam "Enter" and skip everything. - Only talk to the NPC untill just before the dialogue starts giving you your first quest to hunt those 3 Drowned Sailed or somethin - Dont let them give you that quest. - Basically, theres 2 things you do when you first check in at the NPC. One, you tell the game that you have spawned in and are ready to start the questline, and two, you accept the quest. BUT, if you only do step one, you can back out of the dialogue and then check the map, you'lll see 4 quest markers at each of the starting towns. U can then go to any of the watchtower NPCs and start your main quest there. - I did this in both the closed and the open beta. Can guarantee it works.

I think that lvling up weapons is great even if one doesn't plan on using it in the long run. Ever since last year I used bow first then piddled with other weapons. I'm not really a fan of caster or melee combat unless I'm going to play tank so I just plink away. Fire staff and ice gauntlet are just meh to me. Since the speed increase from life staff got removed I just don't use it same with musket. Feign Death-Play Dead was removed so I don't have a reason to use it unless I just want to shoot bullets. I do agree that players need to select weapon attacks as soon as possible over just passives because they make killing that much faster. Only thing in towns I didn't try at all other than just opening it up as part of a quest is the Trading Post. I have no clue how to work it. Selling single vs bulk has always confused me in any MMO.

I constantly took on ppl 3 or more levels higher than me. I was 25 taking on a 32 near the end of the open beta , there was no slaughtering. I almost got him twice until his buddies had to come over and help. So I am not sure what your experience was. Also this was with weapons and a build I wasn't used to but was just trying out for open to see how it played. Zerg groups exist , but they are easily handled even solo , if you have a little skill and a little brain power. Like I said most of those that are in those groups early , do so cuz they can't do it alone. Not enough skill , they just wanna click stuff to death.

Hey man, these are mostly pretty good except for #1 & 2. Regarding #1, the 28th is full release and the game will go on for years after that. So saying the first few minutes are so precious that you have to skip the initial story building is being way too tryhard and will diminish the overall experience. Relax and enjoy. Unless you've already done the tutorial, even the sweatiest pvpers shouldn't totally alienate themselves from the lore, because it makes the game way more shallow. For #2, once you turn in the initial quest to the npc at the tower, as long as you don't accept another one from them, you can then go wherever else you want to continue the quest line. Edit: Just saw your correction vid for #2. Props for that.

Shield no reason - Nevermind bonuses but the shield isn't a stat stick unless you can draw it from your back? Then if it has constitution on it and you have a sword equipped your health will increase when you draw it versus if it's just sitting on your back? Granted this may mean more with the changes to equipped load making light better for healing etc, and the stat bonus may only be an arguable benefit during very early game.

pretty sure, that the stats of secondary weapon counts in all the time, but... for the stats of your shield to count, you must have a sword as a primary weapon, or secondary weapon

I say flag and then unflag after the first time you die. If you flag and don't get attack then free extra XP, if you flag get beat on then unflag well then you were only set back once, no big deal.

@@ImTheMariner oh, you can count on zergs. It’s human nature. People tend to travel in packs for safety like wolf packs. The lone wolves will be at a huge disadvantage. All those 1vX encounters you see on KZbin tend to be multiple levels higher than the ones they’re killing. That’s why it looks so easy.

It would be cool if they let us access the character creator an hour before servers open up. Otherwise, I will have one of the ugliest characters on the server as I'm not pressing that randomize button more than a handful of times :). Another mistake might be not sliding your vertical field of view slider all the way to the right. it allows you to zoom out for best survey of land.

It's less a character creator and more of a character customizers. You get very basic presets. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

for the mistake #2 where you want to join with friends but can't do quests there, what do you have to do to fix this? Do you have to complete the main quest until you join a faction to then regroup with friends?

Have to do the story up to a certain point in the starting zone to my understanding and then you're free to go.

if you want to join your friends which does take time. the runs can be long. when you get thrown into u your starter zone turn in the quest ahead of you but do not accept anything else from that quest giver. immediately back out and look on the map. each starter zone will show up with a yellow dot for the intro npc. run to your friends

I lvl to 5 then the first quest to go to your first town hand that in and dont accept then next one then u can get the next quest in any town
