Some extra notes that might be helpful for players that don't spawn in the place they want to: If you do the first quest (the one that rewards boots i believe) in whatever area you spawn in, but don't accept the next quest. you can walk over to the quest giver of the next quest in any other starting zone and accept it, making that your new hub without having to reroll and re-sit in the queue (which will likely be huge on launch)

I think Windsward will be THE most active trading post across nearly all servers. The centralized location in terms of the necessary quests to progress, the nearness to the first dungeon, the layout of the town and its proximity to crafting nodes will have a natural way of funneling players to that town. Everfall has nothing to its credit that can compete with Windsward's benefits and as someone who hopped across many different servers and regions in the last two events I never came across a server where Windsward was not #1.
@killerdecoy3 жыл бұрын
Those short bets tests though are not going to give good example of an aged server where the market has moved a little more central. So while yes it is good at the start it might not always stay that way when most of the server is 60 instead of 20-30.

Hands down Windsward -- because starting in the upper right where windsward meets everfall there is a chain of iron ore that goes south along the cliffs that wraps around the cliffs of the pirate bay and across the waterfall that nets ~1200 iron, and a good variety of misc metals as well. It is a bit of a time investment, but a full load of iron and other metals + gems is a time investment worth making. Couple that with plenty of bison in the west and hemp in the south -- you've got a crafters dream environment.

Good guide, thanks. One thing that I will add to my city choice will be which faction owns the territory (second day after launch probably before territories are owned, but switching starting city bases on the way to level 24/27 is no big deal). Being based in a territory owned by your faction can save a lot of azoth on fast travel (crafting/refining too??). That being said, it is not a big deal to fast travel to nearby territories to gather or hunt different things then recall to inn.

I for sure dont like over population and I dont like having to fight for what I am trying to gather. The supply crates are a great thing too. one pro/con aspect you didn't consider in the video is the speed that they are likely to get claimed by a faction. Since the project board will only have 1/4 of the quests available until a faction purchases the territory, the sooner the territory gets claimed, the sooner you get access to a LOT more project board quests. Everfall will almost always be the first territory claimed, windsward will likely be the second one, monarch's bluff the third, and first light will most likely be the last of the starting zones to be claimed. Project boards one of the major ways that people level (especially the people that are trying to speed leveling). In addition to project board access, the sooner the territory gets claimed, the sooner you begin seeing crafting stations being upgraded, which gives you easy access to leveling up crafting and refining skills that require tier 3+ stations.

Monarch was my first city in closed beta. Couple things worth a mention, storage next to the trade post imagine my surprise visiting other zones where this was not standard. Open air elite zone this is so good 25-35 regularly get faction quests here once your level is 20+. I got first light open beta and while the town is easier to get around there are no elites that i found. Also there is a giant busted bridge that dominates the landscape here covered with mobs and a few well place missing sections of floor you will drown when you fall through. I found it frustrating having to cross this bridge every time i reloaded my faction quests there would always be one across that bridge and the others the opposite direction in the mountains this was highly frustrating. Both seemed good for trade they had bustling populations no issue there.Once you start doing main quest and getting fast travel to the other areas hopping over to grab something off the trade post is not a problem, you can search all trade post from any post and find that item you need. Love the detail of this video well done ill inevitably get one of the others on launch and ill be as prepared as i can be. Also if you want to move to a different zone at start DO NOT take a follow up quest on beach. you can continue any other start area beach only on first accepted quest then your main story is locked to that zone. TY for this video!

@xDivineStrikerx - Great video. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting. I would say another factor to weight HEAVILY is the proximity of the Faction Quest locations to the Settlement. In Open Beta, it was more painful as I found myself always having to run far. Monarch's Bluff felt like they were always far away and spread apart, but I haven't compared all 4. Thoughts?

I spent the last day of Open Beta making 3 new characters (rerolling if I needed to for the experiment) and did the run to Everfall after turning in the first quest (like level 2). At launch I'll reroll if I get First Light - the run was time consuming and difficult (especially since I'd never been there before). Monarch's Bluff and Windsward were both easy 5 minute or so runs. My strategy for this was to just open up my map and stick to the thicker roads on the map. I've picked Everfall for my town for a couple of reasons -- I'm a gatherer in all games, so I spend a ton of time at the Auction House, I usually concentrate on tools and jewelry for my crafting so I need mines and I like the more mountain feeling of Everfall. I'm not buying my first house until I have enough saved up for T4 so I get the half price discount on the most expensive one and have the most storage. The only thing I'm going to miss is the cow - maybe I'll start a petition to either get our own cow or let the cows in the nearby farm be milked. Actually why can't you milk the cows out in the world?
@xDivineStrikex3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the cow can really be helpful, and I do wish they had a way to just milk cows that you find out in the game but it is what it is. Honestly everfall isn't far away from MB so you could always run there to get some milk in a pinch if needed.

does it matter what type of weapon combination that you use that determined which city to use? what i'm trying to say if u have bow and spear is everfall better? or first light
@chrismoore99193 жыл бұрын
If you want to use a musket you might want to choose a Settlement with ready access to saltpeter if you want to craft your own ammunition, other than that I can't think of any weapon/Settlement synergies
@ChukMeier3 жыл бұрын
MoBluff takes the cake for me too. Decent mining, decent herbs, good provisions and supplies. Fort is out of the way. Great elite zone. Saltwater and freshwater. Not as popular so won't be competing.

I could've sworn that this wasn't a choice... I understand the point is to compare, but when there's no choice I doubt there's much you can do about it other than deleting and restarting until you get it, which risks having to wait in a queue to join again, especially on launch day. Still appreciate the info, though

It's not something they tell you in game, but after completing the first quest you can go to any of these areas to accept the second one. That area becomes your starting area!

so from my understanding the only way were gonna be able to get the starting area we want is by starting over and over till we get lucky? or did they add an option for that in open beta (i only played closed beta)
@tiredastronautboy8993 жыл бұрын
If you take the first quest from buddy at the beach that gives you boots but don’t accept to start the second quest they give, you can go to a different starting zone and continue there instead
@booberry67153 жыл бұрын
Alternatively, you can also turn in your quest from the beach, then not accept the follow-up quest. Instead, run to the town you want as your starter city, and get to it.
@nervsouly3 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you really want to switch you should do what the other two people suggested and run into another zone after turning in the first quest. You don't want to get caught in another queue upon making a new character. BUT I'd suggest to just stick with whatever zone the game gave you and move a few days later. You are free to go wherever you want and raising territorial standings again after 3 days is really not a big issue when you think about how you'll be living there for weeks or months.

I wanted to start in First Light just because it's where my first beta character started, but after you said this is the area with the most walking, I'll probably just start wherever I spawn.
@NicholasThorntonOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Same here, First Light will always be in my heart... i love travelling and walking but it just felt like there was way too much walking sometimes
@JohnSmith-gh9fq3 жыл бұрын
If you don’t like your starting city you don’t need to re-roll just hand in first quest don’t accept the next quest then walk to the town you want and accept the quest there.

how do you see the lvl of areas in new world map?
@elischrock53563 жыл бұрын
Everfall, because I want to save for the t4 house as my first house, and I want that house in a good market town. For the t4 house, I've gotta get standing pretty high, so I'm going to head there early and try to level there as much as possible.

What does milk provide in the game that makes it useful?
@prew_gaming3 жыл бұрын
It's milk...so probably most cook recipes. Free food ration. Even in BDO...milk in that game is like 10k for per one, and you can milk the cows in that game to get them.

Everfall for me. I will buy a house in Everfall and use first light for my Inn. That way I think it gives the best balance of fast travel

Entire video I was thinking Monarchs. Didn’t think that was going to be your pick though.

If you have a lower end computer, FL might be the best starter zone for you since less people in town will mean less hard hitting your system so less chugging. Haha
@xDivineStrikex3 жыл бұрын
Lol that is prolly true honestly, my computer hated me in the open beta when trying to go past all the campsites and I have a 3080 FE card.
@B00styB3 жыл бұрын
Windsward all the way. How close you are to every starting material is big. It's also the closest city to make common potion runs. I may spend the azoth or set my inn at Everfall to travel for the Iron run, though. And I will just run to Windsward from wherever I spawn. There's too much rng involved with making a new character.

Which server will you play New World?
@nervsouly3 жыл бұрын
The server names from Beta were said to not carry over. I mean maybe they will use some again but they said they wouldn't. The names were also different in open beta compared with closed beta.
