Thanks, on the 'live steam days' it is great to hear the sounds of the engines in motion and smell the heated oil from the machines. It's great places like this take an interest in preserving the past.

Thanks for viewing, I always love watching these machines in action, they are a real credit to the engineers who built them and to the society for restoring them.

Thanks for the comment. i was speaking to the guy who built the 1/10 scale traction engine. Everything on the engine was hand made and took a total of 11 years to complete. That's dedication and skill. He could not put a value on his engine even if he did ever anticipate selling it.

Normally progressive scan does deliver better motion and it doesn't matter what the video container is which delivers the video stream.

Hi, yes 1080p avchd is very hard to process without a icore 3 or icore 5 processor with a dedicated nvidia cuda or amd radeon card. However playing the clips from the camera via the hdmi port to your tv should give excellent frame rate and stutter free playback as the camera processor is designed to do this. 720p is adequate for most applications as it is a good balance between file size and performance requirements of the pc

Not noticeable really, the 25p is usually for PAL tv systems and 30p for NTSC due to legacy requirements of the old analogue tv systems. In theory there should be smoother motion with 30p but its marginal

All of these cameras look to have the same 12.1M pixel HS sensor and processor combination so quality wise ther shouldn't be any difference. The cosmetics of the cameras appealing to different tastes in camera design. The underwater mode which helps combat cyan/blue scenes should be an added bonus. The SX220 has the longest reach in terms of zoom and all the cameras start from 28mm. All the cameras get good reviews for quality and I'm impressed by the SX220 (or sx230 with gps) for its features.

Many thanks for your reply. I understand the difference between progressive scan and interlaced (1080p or 1080i) but I try to understand the difference between 1080p/25fps and 1080p/30fps. Is there a major differencein quality?

I found this video because I was looking for some examples of 1080p/25fps vids. Usually you would expect motion-blur. In this case motion blur isn't realy a problem. Does this depend on what type this file is recorded? (mpeg, avi .avchd)

Very nice interesting video, amazing engineering, the machinist skill needed to produce these machines is mind boggling. It would have been teriffic if you could have isolated the sound of each machine. A soundman would have been in Heaven.
