This is the White Box, a hover technology demonstrator. As you can see, there is no airflow as on a conventional hovercraft. Check out the Hendo Hoverboard website: www.hendohover.com

hmm come to think of it, it is rather noisy which might mean it's a mechanical induction. spinning permanent magnets. that might overcome the over heating issue if that could work. that would mean the plate can't be iron and is likely alu.

yes it sounds like a brushless motor in there. It could be spinning magnets/coils, or it could be be a high power cooler for it.

Is there a technical explanation online somewhere that *really* explains how it works? Because this video, despite its title, doesn't. I hope it get fully developed before October 21st, 2015. I bet presenting the project today is no accident :-)

It is described in their patents. But they are not yet published. Of course, the date is chosen by purpose. Stay tuned for the big hoverboard party next year and watch Marty McFly flying by on a Hendo ;-)

forschungsbuero Any idea when the patents will be published? Also, I agree that the title of this video is very misleading and akin to internet clickbait. I suggest a better title such as "Demonstration of Hendo levatation technology" or such. Also, is there a place where the power requirements and lifting capacities are published? it is one of the main things being asked about the developer box and somthing that should probably be available despite the underlying technology being kept quite secret for the time being. For something quite unbelievable, you need a little more hard data.

I'm guessing it's AC induction. Notice the red surface, it's no accident that it doesn't work on wood. It's likely a metal plate. If you run a coil on AC over the metal conductor it will induce a current in the plate that you can push away from when the field alternates. The problem is that it takes a lot of current and the conductor overheats in seconds. But a much more sophisticated variant might be how UFOs work so it can be inspirational even if it is a lie in practice.

Marshall Scholz Ok. I agree and changed the title. The patents are still pending, so no discussion of the technology at the moment. Sorry. All published information you can find on the Hendo website: www.hendohover.com

can you provide a link to the patent on this? or is it still patent pending? on the verge article your explanation of how it works was basically the claim "i invented a monopole magnet and spun it really fast to create a suitable repelling effect". one thing you haven't really published is hard lifting data and power requirements, which really gets to me as an aspiring scientist / engineer.

Sorry if I offended you, but his explanation was on the video with him saying it, not a writeup. Although I am probably less concerned about the article than the lack of hard information out there. I understand that he has to protect his IP until the patent has cleared, but that is no reason not to publish things like lifting weight, power consumption, etc. and as a engineer, the lack of hard info just ticks me off.

if you can channel your chi right, you may hover just like the box. This is according to Master Roshi

I don't get it, in the first Hendo video the board flew over copper. Then in the next demonstration, it seemed hover over ordinary metal without the properties of copper. Now it looks like it's floating over plastic?

Does it work on any surface or only a specific type of surface?
@Snikkii15

So far it only work on mostly specific surface, like metals or anything that have magnetic on it. I believe not really sure.
@mykehdoom

That's what I know, I'm not really good at magnets but I believe when you combine a negative magnet to a negative they both wouldn't touch each other unlike if the magnet is positive to negative and then would stick together.
@mykehdoom
@mykehdoom 10 жыл бұрын
This explains how it works. It's four magnets two positive and two negative with some sort of rotation to keep it balanced.
@Snikkii15
@Snikkii15 10 жыл бұрын
Similar to that but I'm no expert in this matter you can do a bit of research on how magnets work and will probably make more sense or visit their website, it'll have more information on it.

The iron oxides in the US paper currency are attracted by n52 neodymium magnets. They may be using a weaker magnet. Someday with strong enough magnets, thin gpa ring motors, super cooled conductor substrates, and energy densities far surpassing what is currently available. We will have go anywhere hover boards. By then full understanding of magnet lines of force, there interaction with gravity and space time will have all been unlocked. We will probably need safe guards in place to keep the iron in our bodies from running out our feet.

@burlbark 10 жыл бұрын
If you ever have a really strong magnet hold a 20 dollar bill up to it and you will see that it is attracted to it. Be careful with n52 over a couple ounces they can slam together and take a finger off if large enough.

i dont get it why every one is so hyped about it. a magnet can do the same think. it needs a special surface to hover, copper i think. so its the same old trick just uses an other technik.

If this can merely works on the surface of a conductor...which means it is exactly like one of those cheap "magnetic levitation" toy but bigger in size. Unless it can works on any surface, then it is not a legit hoverboard.

Seriously!lets just put in a box lmao or a board to costly for a start you could make you own cheaper everybody's done it on a smaller scale what's the point to loud and you have to copper floor.... Apart from that it would be fun.
