I am SO glad to see safety equipment. Now, climb two-handed, 3 points of contact at all times. Tools/materials go up/down on a rope. It’s easy to get used to and makes life simple/safer. I want to watch you for a long time. Hi, Moma

Hahahaha just close your eyes when I climb! 🤣. Thank you for wanting to watch us for a long time!!!! That makes me happy. I ALWAYS have 3 points. I’m a retired firefighter and know all the things. I have also been doing this for a long time and feel more comfortable on a tower than on the ground. 😀

Just finished this one - number 3. My strongest reaction was the risk you take of falling and not being clipped in until you get to the top. And even then, how good is clipping to your belt? If you were unconscious or unable to regain footing, what is your rescue plan? Have you rehearsed it with Lori so she'd be able to get you down?
@OkieWindmiller7 ай бұрын
Well we have. I’m a retired firefighter, so I knew the risks, and have discussed things, but until the scenario actually happens, who knows. We have discussed her using the truck to get me down if need be, but you know, until it happens, we all think we’re prepared!
@nick540g7 ай бұрын
@@OkieWindmiller I hope you heard only my concern - not criticism. You look completely at ease going up and down and working at 30 ft, but your job is much riskier than most (which you clearly realize) and common sense dictates that you prepare for the unexpected! I'm not talking OSHA-level stuff; use your experience to work up a plan and discuss it with your family. PS: do you have and website or email for fans to communicate with you?

Hi Shane and the Ms. I'm not a wind miller nor will I ever be. I enjoy your video's just so I can learn something new. I just turned 65 and have been retired for 5.5 years now. I am also a retired CNC machinist and set-up man. Before this I retired from the U.S. Marines. Now not working and being a long time widower I am finding out how much home repair is needed when I'm not working 60-68 hour work weeks. My question shane is why you don't use mineral oil? It is extremely light weight and is the only type of oil that does not go ransit. Thanx again for the videos. MF Ellars
@OkieWindmiller3 ай бұрын
Man congrats on retirement! Both retirements!!!! Now you’ll be very busy!!! So as for the oil, we just use what is recommended by the manufacturers. But mineral oil would work for sure! Some also use transmission fluid. Thank you for watching!!
