Denali Highway & Denali National Park| Go North Ep.10
Our first big adventure in Alaska took us down the old Denali Highway to Denali National Park. This road runs through some amazing Alaska wilderness and was the original road used to access Denali National Park. The Denali Highway offers stunning views and access to all kinds of outdoor Alaska recreation. At the end of the highway a short drive took us to the entrance of Denali National Park where we checked in to Teklanika campground for a wonderful 5 days of exploring this pristine wilderness. Denali blew us away by its remote beauty. You cannot drive in this park unless you are going to your campground, and this keeps traffic minimal. Hiking is encouraged, however there are very few trails so it is all backcountry. This was intimidating at first but after a few days we found ourselves falling in love with this type of hiking, finding a freeing sensation in going wherever you want. One day we did get to see Denali the mountain (formerly Mount McKinley) which is the tallest peak in North America. This mountain dwarfed all other mountains around it that were of "normal" size. We fell in love with this remote wild landscape and truly believe that the borders that protect these lands are important to keep this place wild for generations to come to enjoy.

Great video and amazing photography. Wife and I were there last September. It was overcast and drizzling rain but at one point the clouds/fog around the mountain broke for a few minutes. We stopped and stood there in awe. It brought tears to my eyes.

i know that highway well, been on it about a hundred times. that was my favorite moose and caribou hunting area. did you stop at the MacLaren River Lodge and say howdy to Alan and Suzy? at 4:o7/8 you showed John Shandlemeier's edifice he built on a hilltop. great guy, saved my life on the MacLaren river, twice. thank you for showing my most favorite spot in the world. My brother died on that river. when it comes my time, guess i will go up in that area and lie down and wait my next adventure! thanks again, retired ol ron, 50year Alaskan resident.

I've been binge watching this trip and I have to say you guys have narrated it beautifully so far. Seeing and living this/your adventure to The North is quite inspiring, breathtaking and leaves us yearning to make this trip ourselves. Shame that man... opps, people can't see the forest for the trees and learn that we are killing this great earth we get to live on for such a short time. The world could learn from the native Americans and how to live with nature instead of destroying it. To not overpopulate and over ravage its natural resources, to live in harmony with nature. Opps got off on a tangent :-), So thank you for making this adventure ours and that in one day we may be able to take this journey on our own, through lessons learned... note to self buy chicken wire. :-) Looking forward to the finale from Denali!
