Beautiful video presentation and production. We will be headed to Tuktoyaktuk next year. We would like to ask you about your drone photography. We are American citizens. We both have the FAA UAV Licenses. However, we were told that only Canadian citizens as of June 2019 can legally fly a UAV (drone) in Canadian Airspace (CA does not recognize US Certifications) and that we can not even bring into Canada our UAV (It will be seized) . We will also be going to Alaska (where we can legally fly) but since Canada Authorities told us we can not bring our US Licensed/Registered UAV into Canada, Alaska UAV use won't happen. Canada reformed their UAV laws dramatically. What we would like to know is how (from whom) you received permission to fly your UAV for your arial photography. Thanks. Happy Trails and Safe Travels. All the best.

@@mjmohnHi MJ - actually, not even Canadian citizens can fly drones in certain areas. And, other areas are just off limits, which can lead to hefty fines. The new regulation came into effect June 2019, so it is not surprising that there is a lot of confusion. Here’s a step-by-step (with links) that will help you stay safe, and ensure the safety of others, including property. 1) Your drone weight & size: this new regulation requires that drones have certain weight and size, unless you have special permission to fly a different drone (used for specialized work). You should look at the specs of your machine and see if it is compliant with the new requirement. Alternatively, you can also visit the manufacturer’s website. If you click the following link, it will take you to DJI’s Newsroom page: www.dji.com/newsroom/news/dji-drones-meet-new-transport-canada-requirements-for-flight-near-people 2) Location: even if you have a permit to fly a drone in Canada, it does not mean that you can fly it anywhere. For instance, restricted areas are just that: restricted, and you should know what these are. The following link from Transport Canada will help you better understand these new rules (first link), and where you can fly one by using the interactive map (second link): www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/aviation/drone-safety.html nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool/ You should also check the NAV Canada NOTAMs portal for any scheduled events as this will restrict the use of your drone in that area: flightplanning.navcanada.ca/cgi-bin/CreePage.pl?Langue=anglais&NoSession=&Page=Fore-obs%2Fnotam&TypeDoc=html And, keep in mind that Parks Canada does not allow drones (e.g. Banff, Lake Louise, etc.). You should also check with each Provincial Park before you fly your drone. Also, keep in mind that there is a section of the Dempster Highway that is used for emergency landing (air ambulance). This is at Km124 (Government airstrip). You will see signs on the road, on both sides, as you approach it. This means you cannot stop your vehicle here, unless it is an emergency, or fly a drone. Consider this area as an airport no-fly zone. 3) Certificate: it is true that you must have a Canadian-issued certificate to fly your drone in Canada (Special Flight Operations Certificate). I would recommend that you visit the following link for further details: Foreign pilots (US included): coastal-drone-academy.thinkific.com/courses/RPAS-basic-FP Hope this helps. 😊 Disclaimer: please note that I am not in any way associated with any of the companies or institutions mentioned in this posting.

I know a lot of truck campers but always a Dodge 450-550 they are way more dependable and a lot more dependable. My best friend had to have a new motor sent to him and the exhaust brake was 3-4 times better they work outstanding and touched their brakes once or twice the whole trip and that was 7000 miles !

Did it in June of 2018 on our Adventure Motorcycles. 7 of us. Got snowed on coming back from Tuk on June 8th and two of the guys got to visit the well-equipped Inuvik medical center, then the airport there for flights back. Coming back down the Dempster which had several very icy and very wet places from the snowstorm was another adventure. You guys did a lot more in-depth exploring and meeting people and I really enjoyed seeing much more of the treck than I remember. With only two of you, you could take the time to stop longer and get more in-depth without worrying about what everybody else wanted to do. Loved it!! And also your other entertaining and informative vlogs. I'm glad you did the work (and it really is!) to prepare them so well. Jim.

The entire series is epic but this episode stands out as one of the best, most informative and well-video-Ed. What an amazing adventure and one of the most instinctively respectful of local culture ever filmed. I’ve no doubt that all Canadian and Alaskan locals are grateful for your sensitivity to far north customs and lifestyles. This should be required viewing in all lower 48 schools!

Hello Mortons…..I just wanted to say thanks for the great filmwork and commentary. I was stationed at Barter Island DEWline site back in 1980. I flew all around northern Alaska and Canada doing inspections at various sites and TUK was one I visited on the way to Cambridge Bay (Cam Main). Not too many folks can say they have been to Tuk, your film did a great job introducing KZbinrs to that beautiful place. Thanks from Wasilla, Alaska.

Inuvik used to be called the "Easter Egg Town" because of all the brightly colored houses there. This was back in '84, when I was preparing to drive to AK. I wonder when all those homes disappeared. That whale stew recipe was hilarious. It's easy to see that you take care to pronounce things correctly. So many don't.

I drove the Dempster highway up to Inuvik in 1993. I then took a guided plane and van tour to "Tuk". Except for the mosquitoes, I had an enjoyable trip. Thanks for documenting that newly completed road as I'm unlikely to travel there again. This is the first Mortons video I've seen and was impressed with the professional quality. I look forward to watching many more from your archives.

You have really thrilled me with this video by reminding me of all of the beauty I saw when I was up there. There are many things I want to say, but I'll stick to two main points. 1) I LOVE how you explained how the road is affecting the beautiful people of Tuktoyaktuk and how we need to tread carefully and respectfully. 2) Your truck camper is THE way to go I think because of the truck's suspension softening the blow to the camper. The road itself is not that bad in a vehicle, but put something tagging along in the back and having it bounce down the road after you, I believe it takes more of a beating. In any case, you gave me shivers of delight reliving my short time up there. Thank you!

Not sure how many times I have watched this series & in particular this video of the Dempster, as it captures the flavour of this iconic road road so well. We did this drive as part of our trip in early July 2018 to complete our "COAST TO COAST TO COAST" experience over 2 summers. We spent 2 weeks on the Dempster and I wish we had lingered another week or two. Hopefully we will make it once more & time it for early fall. 👍👍👍👍👍

This brought back happy memories of our trip up the Dempster to Inuvik in 2002. We did the trip the end of June in a new Honda Accord and had no problems. We stayed in Eagle Plains both directions, and we spent two nights in Inuvik. Coming back, we had snow-- got to Eagle Plains just before the road was closed. We were able to leave early the next morning and had no problems. It was a wonderful trip. I'm glad you could make it. We'd love to go to Tuk now that there's a road, but we're in our 80s so probably won't do it.

I finished my Morton Marathon and your journey brought me joy and tears of remembrance. I've visited a number of National Parks and Monuments in the lower forty, including Glacier, Olympic Yellowstone, Yosemite and many more , and off the main road places. Your adventure demonstrates the wilderness still present. No McDonald or other fast food places. Your planning and vehicles were extraordinary. In the late sixties there was no satellite access and my Bible for the journey was the Rand McNally Road atlas, and I still think that maps offer a broad view of where you've been and where you going. May you have a life filled with great journeys, whatever they may be. Warmest Wishes Rik Spector

I am sure I am like many of your subscribers that are willing to wait for your videos, as we understand you did not undertake this adventure to only film for us, you took it to take in the amazing scenery, to learn about the people who live where you are visiting, and understand the history of the areas you are going through. There are times lately I will go visit a beautiful place and I don't even want to take a picture, because I want to focus on what I am seeing, and take it all in. I can tell that you have found a great balance in experiencing the areas you are visiting, plus filming it for us to share your journey. So if that means I have to wait to see videos, that is fine, as I know when you post them it will have been worth the wait.

We missed you by about 3 weeks. We were in Inuvik and Tuk back on June 16-20. It is one of North America's epic trips. Good to see your connection with the community people as well. Well done.

Another exciting video of the trip to the Great North. Loved your final quote, Caitlin: "The adventure doesn't end at the end of the road." Something we can all ponder, even if not in the Great North Country. Thanks for taking us all along, guys. Y'all Be Safe!
