I been spending all day yesterday looking for UV unwrapping tutorials for 3ds max, and I must say that this by far the best UV unwrap tuturial out there, you cover exactly all the buttons and methods that I need to know about in order to get something unwrapped intuitively and without distortion. Thank you Denis On a side note, have anyone else experienced that whenever you are in your "UV unwrap" modifier and have edge selection enabled, you can only select 1 edge, where shift+LMB doesn't allow you to select more edge? The only way I can select mutiple edges is by square drag an area that covers the seams, then deselect the edges with a square mouse drag holding down CTRL? I am using 3ds max 2019.

Great tutorials, exactly what I needed ! By the way you present your tutorials it is obvious that you care for your "students". It is a quality most appreciated, Thank you !

Great video series, Denis!! You make UV Unwrapping so simple and easy!! I love the fact that you took time to demonstrate how to unwrap each of the basic primitives. Along with some alternate methods for unwrapping each one.

best way to learn UVW unwrapping is by knowing the basics. But in all honesty i prefer to do my UVW unwrapping with Unfold3D. Doing it in max is like a final resort thing.

Thanks! I'll have to check out Unfold3d.

One thing I've noticed about Max '19: it auto-UVs the torus beautifully now, by completely unwrapping it and stretching it out like a fence, so that a texture can follow the direction of the polygons/edges, and not just be projected straight down.

amazing,,with your clear explanation..you make it looks easy..thanks !!

Great explanation. Thanks a lot. By the way at the end of the video, we did'nt do the stich custom in the pelt method of opening the torus at the end. Should we have?

Excellent tutorial, very well explained, didn't rush it, wasn't confusing.

if anyone wants completely plain uv same as a plane, select upper part then click straightten selection , do the same with bottom one then after stitching do the relax by polygon angle then straighten selection once again. you will have a complete plain map now same as a plane for the torus.

The cone unwrapping is incorrect, in the UV dialog a correctly unwrapped cone like in your example should look like a trapezoid, with flat top and bottom edges, as well as flat sides. I'm still struggling with achieving that in my model :D
@maxgordon3194Ай бұрын
use straighten selection after relax by polygon /edge whichever of the two you need or on new version of max try unfold 3d

Calm down man you're stuttering and seem to only get your thoughts half-way out it's just KZbin not an auditorium of 10k people... OR IS IT?!
@DenisKeman7 жыл бұрын
Stutter happens i guess :) Also it's much easier to give lectures live as you can get away with slight stutters, minor screw ups and you can also further explain stuff if someone isn't clear on something. Unlike that, recording a video is a bit different. Cheers.
