Denmark Coronation News | Denmark’s King Frederik X Takes Throne After Queen Margrethe II Abdicates

Queen Margrethe II has signed her declaration of abdication, ending her 52-year reign as Denmark’s longest-serving monarch and ushering in her eldest son Frederik as king and head of state.
Thousands of people gathered on the streets of Copenhagen to bid farewell to Margrethe, who has become the first Danish monarch in nearly 900 years to abdicate voluntarily.
The signing of the abdication declaration means her 55-year-old son automatically becomes King Frederik X. He will be proclaimed by the Danish prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace on Sunday.

Actually- the Brits did something very much the same within a day or 2 of the Queen’s death. The Danes no longer have the coronation because it was tied to the concept of absolute monarchy. The English did not have an absolute monarchy. In fact the British coronation symbolically limits the power of monarch, by requiring the monarch to take an oath to uphold the laws, traditions and so on of England before the monarch can be anointed and crowned. The oath has been part of the coronation since medieval times.
