When my ex and I had our first child 28 years ago, it was fairly new that the hospital only kept you, for a day or two. It didn't bother us. Actually we wanted to go home, the sooner, the better. Not because we were unhappy with the hospital, we just meant, that we were in control with everything. We were pretty lucky. My wife gave birth 5 minutes, after we entered the hospital. He was actually on his way, in the car, the first one. A bit of a close call, I guess. But everything just went so quick. Guess who we met at the hospital?! My brother- and sister-in-law. She gave birth the same day.

Thanks so much Aimee ❤️ Yeah it's a lot of "grown up people stuff" for sure, haha, but everyone over here has made it a really stress free experience!

Very interesting video. I'm not pregnant, but I'm in Canada. I just had a routine blood test (check up) and some of the things you mentioned resonated with me a bit. Here, you have to phone your doctor for an appointment. Due to covid, my doctor is only doing phone call appointments. So we talk on the phone and she asks where I want to get my blood test done. I tell her and she sends the form up there. (the form is a list of tests that they check for whatever you need done). Then it is on me to make an appointment at the hospital for the lab. When it is time, I have to go to the hospital, text the lab to say I'm there, and they have a greeter at the front doors asking you why you are there. My boyfriend had to wait outside the hospital, he wasn't even allowed past the door. After you get your test done, you have to call the doctor yourself to make another appointment to go over the results. However, there is a way to see your results online but you have to know that the service exists, make an account, and look at it yourself. We have a personal health number (PHN) that is attached to all medical records and prescriptions. Everything is online. A few years ago, you'd have to bring the lab form to the lab yourself, but now it gets faxed over. There is a huge doctor shortage in my area. Our doctor died and I was able to sneak into a new doctor's practice but my brother has been without for a few years now. A new thing that has come out is from a phone/internet company where you can have a virtual appointment with a doctor. It is like going to walk-in clinic, but online. I haven't tried it but it was quite popular during covid when I was still working at the pharmacy.

So you got Rigshospitalet? I guess if it is good enough for an Australian, it will also be good for a Canadian 😉

Hi! Would like to ask, do they offer flu vaccine and Tdap vaccine in Denmark for pregnant women? Thank you!
@ErininCopenhagen
@ErininCopenhagen Жыл бұрын
I did get offered the flu vaccine as well as one for whooping cough. Not sure about Tdap - I know that's more common in North America but I don't remember it getting mentioned here (or in the UK for that matter). You can always ask your doctor though! Best of luck

Taxi, Car or Cargo Bike to the Hospital, when it’s time?

Hahah taxi/car for sure!!! 😂 Although my mother in law did insist that many Danish women just ride their bikes to the hospital when labour starts.. 🤔 Haha

@@ErininCopenhagen A girl friend of mine lived 500 meters from the Rigshospitalet (General Hospital) and walked over there while in labor. It still baffles my mind she could walk that far while in labor but she did and gave birth to a beautiful girl. Two days later she carried the kid home the very same path she had gone to give birth to her.

a story from the birth clinic in Århus. A woman made it to the elevator and gave birth there. She was very unhappy about this; and the attending doctor jokingly said: "oh that is nothing; two years ago a woman gave birth on the lawn outside" She started crying "that was me..."
Help! I'm in Denmark and I can't find a job!
