What a great teacher! Potholes anticipated; challenges broken down into understandable elements; clear, concise explanations; logical progression through each lesson. Much appreciated! (Also, humble, super-nice guy when I met him many years ago.)

If this is the same Rich Watson (drummer, writer extraordinary and all around renaissance man), I'm more than honored. 🙏

I’m now 65 years old Jeffy And I still love playing double kick I got the DW 9000s which are plenty fast for me. That’s how I get my cardio, bro.

Wow, and that paradiddle with that three pattern on the feet holy crap dude I had to write it down and break it down. I am going so slow with that. It’s ridiculous but man once you lock it in it’s crazy.

Hey Jeff Another great video from you. Remember you from MI back in 2003, great fun. Still you inspire me a lot - thanks Bro 🥁🙏🏻 I made my little hybrid on the same footing. I got it from Gregg Bisonette. So on top, I put Jeff Porcaro’s Shuffle, and it’s not the halftime Purdie/Rosanna groove, but the classic 2 and 4 backbeat accented strokes, with ghostnotes in all the gabs 😉 I hope it make sence 😊 Take Care !!

Wow! Thanks for saying hi. That was a few moons ago! That's a great idea to play on to of this ostinato! The ghost notes will be a great way to really make sure all of the limbs are lining up! Thanks for sharing!

Cool easy way to do metric modulation, thanks for this. Had a question about a few things. Personally, i have balance problems on the kit when playing heel up on the bass drum. I like the power and the speed i have with heel up but within a few minutes my hip and lower back hurt and can take days to subside. It looks like you play heel up but your beater looks to be for the most part buried into the head. I don't play buried into the head. I used to play with my seat really low when I was a kid but have since moved it up higher when playing heel up but i still have pain. Any ideas, i have looked at a ton of stuff on these problems but heel down in the only way i can play without pain, but then i can't really play sambas or anything with much power or speed. Is there a way to play with power and speed heel down? All ideas welcome. Again, really enjoy all your lessons. Very nice!

Thanks, Ralph! You are in good company. Seating position is grossly overlooked and plays a huge part in our overall performance/ability. It comes down to centering your balance on your throne and off of your feet. I talk about it in my Masterclass you can check out here: www.drumdisciplineacademy.com/masterclass
