The purpose of this video was to help you be your own teacher. I love this kind of lesson style because it encourages more practice and for you to draw more conclusions about how to suit the technique to your best needs.

A lot of good info, great things to consider that drummers should check! Some of these basic points of height and distance from the drum are overlooked by many of us. Although I feel visual demos would help, many commenters are just bad listeners!

Hi everyone - just went through some of the comments, thanks for your feedback! Understanding why something works (or not) allows for finetuning AND makes the process repeatable - which is what you want to do when you practice ... right? Your brain is one of the most important muscles in drumming :-) Anyhow guys, "know before you go" and enjoy drumming!

Remember, your foot and pedal board should moving together as one team. Do you want to feel like your foot is floating on the pedal board but always remaining in contact. The beater and the pedal board should have the freedom to “breathe” but the foot is always in charge. There is no “one” technique. Depending on what it is that you’re trying to execute or perform, it is always useful to have a number of techniques in your arsenal. (Heal down, heal up, pivot, slide technique, heal/toe...). Quite often you will find in any given song you will be using a series of different techniques throughout...

Honestly, that’s not really good of a video. You should’ve shown more how you actually use your foot. You know, like showing the technique instead of theoretically talking for ages. As a music teacher I gotta say, that’s not a good approach, pal.
