Having to defend a legend like Larry helped challenge Dennis into being the great defender he was. He emulated Bird's drive as a player to do all the little things needed to win, including maximum hustle every minute on the court. When I see Dennis diving out of bounds for lose balls or fighting for rebounds, I always thought of Larry Bird. If they could ever have played on the same team together, you would never stand a chance to beat them.

I missed Russell andOscar in college, but The only college players I saw who had as good senior season than Bias were Walton and Bill Bradley; not Danny Manning, not Rose, not Jordan, not Duncan, etc. Postscript- s someone correctly pointed out Jordan didn’t stay his senior season -my bad- corrected to “last season in college” - arguably MJ would have been greatest college player ever if he had stayed his senior season, tho Oscar has to be considered in that equation -three national scoring championships THREE player of the year awards (!) -untouchable will stand forever -and two final fours, tho he never won a natty-MJ might have won a scone natty if he stayed. Then again you have to include Russ an Walton if you are rating nattys into the equation. And look over three seasons MJ simply wasnt in the same category as Russ,Walton and Oscar as college players, not even close. In any event in his final season in coll;ege, Len boas was as unstoppable and dominant a player as Walton and (I infer) Oscar.

My favorite Dennis Rodman moment: He was on the Spurs in Richfield playing against the Cavs. The play was whistled dead for whatever reason and the ball was in Dennis's hands. He was beyond the three point line and faced away from the basket. In one swift motion of defiance he threw the ball over his shoulder towards the basket, which again, was behind him, and hit nothing but net. The basket didn't count, obviously, but I don't think he had more than two points in the game as it was. (He had his dozen or more rebounds, however.) To this day, I can't understand why no one has taken up the mantle of being a rebounding force like he was. If I was a GM I'd pay top dollar for a guy like him.

@Ulysses432 , if we follow your argument, maybe a top rebounder in today's game would still be a Dennis Rodman, someone who can run and put effort in on both ends of the floor. Aye bro... I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!! I'm 42 yrs old n grew up watching this era you're breathing life into as far as showcasing n showing a lot of youngsters for the first time. I grew up as a white kid in some pretty rough neighborhoods in St.Louis n Chicago. Basketball was my way of being able to fit in outside of the guys on my streets. The toughness and attitude of that era was ever present on the blacktop. I had it rough but, that style of of play let me show my toughness n attitude. To a point that I had gained respect all over those beautiful cities. Basketball literally saved my life. I got in a good amount of trouble but, there were always games and practices to be at so I had structure bcuz of the game. It allowed me to fit in and standout at the same time as well as start friendships and respect i still cherish now. If in any other era, maybe i don't have the opportunity to show my toughness n grit. Be respected and seen as an equal, peer, the same as them in a world that feeds off of preying on the weak or different. Without going to jail or hurting others. There was a respect. The game emulated the era outside of itself. We didnt USUALLY go grab guns first. We fought. Man to man. We didnt just jump ppl. MOST of the time guns weren't involved. Because we had our hands to use. The same hands we'd high five, beat our chests, or even help someone off the court with. N we always used them to shake the hands of the othe team after. Same hands we watched Dr. J n Bird throw at each other. Then use to shake the others at the 50 greatest ceremony. The game kept a boundary for us. Along with society the game has changed. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING ALL THAT BACK EVERYTIME I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS. Big ups, n god bless bro!!!

Man, I love me some Dennis Rodman. Some people fall in love with teams but I was never really a big team guy when it came to basketball but I sure as hell liked specific players and always wanted to see them achieve what they worked for and what I felt they earned. I just love the Rodman story, the guy is just so interesting, wise and all real. Dennis got a lot of press for off the court but what I always focused on was on the court - all that other crap that we have to endure 10X today with socmed, that crap never mattered. Dennis always called it as he saw it and he was always real- That is something you have to respect whether you might agree or not. Hell of a score of an interview!

I tell my son about 3 men who excelled in defense, Rodman, Pippen and Olajuwon. Honorable mention to Mourning. Those guys could lock down multiple positions. I miss those defensive specialists.

The best Rodman interview I've heard! Great job dude. Rodman was the player that many hated at first, but quickly grew to really like because every minute on the pine, Rodman gave 100% and then some! He hustled his ass off, his work ethic was 2'nd. to none and I eventually had him as one of my favorite players to watch. You got your damn money's worth with Rodman. I can't wait for the 2'nd. part! I never knew he didn't play B-ball in high school, amazing. Great interview. Thanks, JohnG

I met Dennis Rodman. It was driving a big Mercedes. It was pulling into the bank. I pulled into the same bank and he stopped so genuine and signed my boys shirts. Then he had shirts in his hand he went you gave them to the girls in the bank on 12 mile and Evergreen in Southfield again so genuine heart of gold

I would go to war with Dennis. Was never a fan when he played but he has my immense respect as a player. He gave 110% effort every game. He created an elite niche for himself as a defender, rebounder, and the guy to get under the best opposing players skin. He’s an amazing personality and if I were a GM I’d pay him top dollar. Michael Jordan is the GOAT and known for all the highlights and game winning shots but Michael Jordan was also a killer on defense and with Pippen and Grant murdered people with the full court press for the first 3 peat. The second run was so sweet but it was all about grinding defense and nobody could have fit better with Jordan and Pippen than Rodman. Those were the 3 best non center defensive players in the game all on one team.
