Rodman celebrated if his opponent got a foul or a tech. It looked silly but his victories was not just scores and rebounds. He celebrated getting into their heads and taking them out their game. That was like a monster dunk to him. Deceptively smart

He was a troll. Emotional guys like Barkley or Zo always took the bait. He tried that shit on Hakeem in the playoffs and he just shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to kick he and the rest of his squads ass.

Very surreal watching this 25+ years later. I was thinking this looks like the game where Denis gets ejected and takes off his shirt and sure enough it was. People don't realize Charles had man strength as a rookie coming into the league. People also don't realize Michael was really small when he came into the league. They called him "skinny Mike".

One thing I have to say about Bill Laimbeer: If you're on his team, he really has your back. Any time it looked like there might be a scuffle between one of his teammates and someone on the opposing team, he's one of the first ones there who is ready to get in a fight for his guy, if need be -- no questions asked.

That was the Detroit Pistons. Chuck Daley, Laimbeer, Mahorn, Isaiah, Rodman, Dumars, Vinny, Edwards. They were a team, backing down from nobody. Laimbeer and Mahorn were capable of scoring 25-30 pts a night. They gaveup scoring to become two of the best role players in nba history. Enforcers, making sure they controlled the paint every night. Laimbeer and Mahorn, that duo probably caused a lot of players to lose sleep the night before the game. 😂

In the 90s, whether on my college campus or my local park area, I played basketball the same way I played rugby, physical and rough! I have a short frame, so I hit the gym hard. My lane was DEFENSE and rebounding, so Dennis Rodman was my idol. Anyone trying to do a layup on my 5'6 short frame was going to get body slammed on hard pavement! I took special glee bashing into guys taller me, letting them know they were dealing with a pitbull. You were going to either pass that ball or go for a desperate 3 point (and miss!) but you were not bring it down the paint. And an elbow to my face was not a problem, bring on those "love taps." Well, I learned over the years I can't play baskeball with anyone under 30 cuz these weakling zillennials cry foul if you nudege or just look at them sideways on the court. I can't stand to watch the NBA today. I rather watch 3on3. When I watch Big3, it feels like 1994 again.

He told me that MJ hung out with Oakley in Vegas, LA, NYC on vacations etc… He would tell me some awesome stories about them. All the best players from the 80’s and 90’s know that if you’re with Oakley nobody is fu&@ing with you. I thought it was cool that MJ respected him enough to hang out with him. That speaks volumes about Oakley as a man.

@@junaditya3895 Context: 1993/94 season- The Chicago Bulls added new players and managed to keep Prime Horace Grant in their ranks. MJ never played with Horace Grant, Toni Kucoc, Armstrong, Longley and Steve Kerr all at the same time. In addition, in 1994, the Chicago Bulls were very lucky, in the First Round they beat the injured Cavs team. 3 Elite Cleveland Cavaliers players were injured and did not play against the Chicago Bulls in the First Round of the 1994 Eastern Conference. 1994 ECFR: Bulls vs Cavs ( 4:0 ). Cavs: Brad Daugherty- Missed 4 games. Hot Rod Williams- Missed 4 games. Larry Nance- Missed 4 games. And if not for these injuries the Chicago Bulls might, not have made it to the second round.

Rodman wouldn't tire, Rodman wouldn't quit, Rodman would get inside of his opponents heads. His strengths were whatever bothered him you'd be the last to know it. Weakness offense, but when you have MJ on your team that covers any weaknesses that you may have.

Two legends. Rodman probably my favorite Defensive PF of all time and as a old time Knick fan Oakley will forever be the face of the tough no nonsense 90's knicks. Oak was the enforcer and in many ways did many of the same things Rodman did (although no one does it better than rodman).
@soramirez5473

Oakley crashed the boards and often held rodman in check rebounding wise. Rodman was more like a "worm" squirming his way to a rebound. Oakley quite literally ran and crashed his body into players to get the rebound.. different types of players.
@soakedbearrd
@soakedbearrd 2 жыл бұрын
@@soramirez5473 💯. Rodman had a gift of seeing the trajectory of the ricochet to know where to go to get the rebound. Definitely also will out hustle and out-cardio you. Oakley was a rock, that was a master at boxing out, and had the strength to tassel with the big men. It certainly wasn’t his hops. Like you said he uses his body to get rebounds, Barkley was like that too, short, didn’t have high hops, but that 6’6 frame would feel Ike a 6’10 frame.

Came here from an article written by a VIRGIL VILLANUEVA about Oakley. Oak tried to say he kicked Rodman out his steakhouse which may have very well happened but to then say Rodman was soft and was just a "good" rebounder is ludicrous. He said some other crap too which doesn't surprise me bc it's oak lol but yea
