@Marty Flannigan That is understandable. But if you follow Dennis, like I imagine you do, Dennis is usually looking at numbers and going over vehicles he is considering as soon as he arrives. If you notice in the few videos where he and Thomas have dealt, especially this one, he stands back and listens to Thomas and takes him at his word. There is a respect and trust Dennis has with Thomas you don't see on most every other purchase. Granted Dennis does have to get Thomas back on track from time to time, but the trust he has in the inspection Thomas has already done shows.

Back in my 20's which was the late 80's early 90's all I ran was Pontiac. All fire birds and trans ams and a couple of late 60's fire birds. Believe it or not if submerged yourself in the world of cars you learn the numbers. In the beginning I had a book with all the casting numbers. I also had a list of certain Vin numbers of cars that came with certain vins. Now back then you could find certain cars for sale that were still reasonable. You could also still find alot in junk yards. So after a few years out digging around looking you would start to remember the good numbers and what cars had them. You would also learn about the good rear ends and transmissions. My first car I legally had on the road was a 1980 trans am with the WS6 suspension package. I was 16 but I had a 66 Pontiac tempest and a 76 ford f250 camper special. It had I believe a 390 with a 4speed with granny low trans in it. I had both of those at 14. So you can see if you are a car guy that it is possible to learn the good numbers. They don't know all the numbers just the good ones. Because those are the only ones that count.

My thoughts are that this T/A was on the assembly line already, when the strike hit. It was probably one of the earliest ones to be completed when production restarted. This would explain the early for 1972 codes and numbers on it.
@1982MCI3 жыл бұрын
Didn’t they have scabs working the lines on limited production tho also when the strike occurred? I remember a little bit of the strike and watching it on the news each evening but I don’t remember any of the specifics cause I was young at the time but I do remember talking with my parents about what “scabs” were and why they were getting beat up when they went to work. But I’m curious if they did have scabs for the assembly lines then that may explain why some things are a bit oddball but overall, it’s a damn good car and thank goodness Dennis now has it cause it will be saved now for sure and put back exactly as it came down the scab line, lol Take care buddy, be safe out there!!
@javierdenardo26073 жыл бұрын
I read that at the end of the strike, GM destroyed 1000 vehicles that were on the line and sent 40 to tech schools across the nation. This is because the cars entered into the 1973 model year and safety standards had changed. They were offered to Canada but were turned down due to safety regulations 😮
