The switch on the dash is police car related. It was used to lock the throttle higher during times of idle to keep the cooling system caught up and the alternator charging during times of draw (stationary with auxiliary lights going). My 1980 Gran Fury police car has a similar pull knob set up.

Dalton gets it. Cars are meant to be driven, not sit. I've got an 06 Civic Si coupe with the HFP kit, which isn't very common. Has 253k miles. My dad has an 06 Civic Si with no HFP and he bought it new and it has 22k miles...and he thinks because he saw something online(that was taken down almost immediately after he saw it) that there were only 500 06 Si's made. Which is an absolute lie, but he refuses to believe anything else. Honda, like most companies, would have made special plaques and such to number the cars if they were that rare. Funny thing is I've counted more than 500 06's between for sale and junkyards across the US.

The throttle lock is is prevent carbon buildup in the engine from idling for hours. Tractor trucks have the same issue but now have a high idle switch. The charging system doesn’t really charge any faster if idle is higher.
@billhacksАй бұрын
The throttle lock isn't originally meant for cruise control. they are meant to set rpms while parked to charge the battery faster. They were also used on semi trucks to build air faster or run hydraulic systems. For cop cars it would be to run lights and radios without running down the battery. Everyone just happened to use them for cruise.

You could build a brake drum puller that would work with those drums. Use two pieces of heavy angle iron drill holes in the center and another hole out inline with the lug studs. Use a four pieces of the heavy angle iron to make adapter that bolts on four of the wheel studs. Weld long bolts to these pieces that run out so you can bolt them to the long poeces of angle iron at the holes in the ends. The center hole should be large enough for a 3/4 bolt. Use a long 3/4 bolt to go through these center holes, spin on a nut. Use this bolt to push on the center of the axle. Adjust the bolts running to the drum so everything sets straight. A wrench on the 3/4 nut, impact on the head of the bolt and tighten the bolt to pull the drum.

Im so happy to see this! Im 62, when I was 17, my dad gave me his 66 GTO that had that same 428 that he had put a Ram 3 cam in, and it was and is the fastest cars I have ever owned! Im jealous!

Watching this channel is both fun to watch and motivating me to get at my Studebaker, to not be afraid to take it apart despite it being below 0 outside… Mr Dalton makes this look easy and fun

This is maybe your best video. You've got an incredibly rare car to begin with and in an hour and a half you managed to get it into really decent shape. Going by the underside of the deck lid looks like it was originally burgundy in color. Keep up the good work!

Notice the quick cutaway after the swig of AG1 so we didn’t see the struggle to actually swallow it. 🤢 I’m sorry but I don’t buy for a second that you use it everyday. And if you are it’s only because they are sponsoring it and giving it to you. With how frugal you portray yourself to be there’s no way you’re going to pay $79+ a month for that. It’s been proven time and time and that AG1 is extremely overpriced and there are way better products out there for far less money.
@damianjackson9084Ай бұрын
$79 a month is stuff all when it comes to your health, and clearly you don't know this channel very well, I've been a follower for a long time and he wouldn't back something he doesn't think works.

Not sure if you noticed but the window sticker stated "3 Speed Floor Shift", which was included in the 2+2 Sport package. I believe the car may have been converted to a column shift sometime after it left the factory.
@MrTommyboy68Ай бұрын
No, on the build sheet it shows turbo-hydramatic. The way the red outline is done on the paper makes it difficult to see. If he could make a better copy (of the whole sheet it might be easier to read.) The window sticker shows turbo hydramatic for $226.00.

Watching this video was giving me a certain form ptsd from doing carpet in my GM boat. I have a 69 LeSabre 2 door with a lot of similarities (cassis wise), when you pulled the back seat and swore at the sight of what lay before, felt that deep in my soul. My best guess on what makes the floors so rusty on these cars would be water leaking in from the windows being a big culprit. All the seals were shot on mine and I could follow the rust trail from the windows to the floors. Love this car and hope to see more of it, BOP never dies!!! 💪

This has gotta be my favourite episode of yours yet, and I've seen a lot. You were clearly genuinely excited about this car and so was I because of how you delivered it. That's what makes you an absolute top class KZbinr. You're the real deal brother, keep it up. Love from Australia

Smart thinking on the rears by putting the tire on to beat it. Them drums are impossible to find and I was already searching as the video played. Glad to see it came apart.

I had a 67 Buick. It had 12 point fuel pump bolts. Very interesting thing that Pontiac has them also. Total different motors. Had a 340 hp big block in mine. It was like 415 ftlbs of torque. Loved that car.

One of my favorite Pontiacs Dalton. A friend's parents bought one and I remember seeing it when his parent dropped him off at school. Always wanted one but never got around to it. That choke problem on the carb also affected the 1976 Caprice Classic. Never worked, big problems in cold weather. I was talking to someone I knew and he said "Lemme look at it." So I did. It took him about 30 minutes, had to rebend the choke "wire" to an odd shape and the damn thing started working like it should've from the factory. That 67 pont you have is kind of rare. hope you keep it, kinda like looking at it. Paint could be a good idea you know. lol Visiting the floors. My 86 Chev pick up had holes in the driver side floor. Thanks to a rust hole that became..... in the inner fender. It allowed the road salt encrusted snow to hit the bottom of the floor, and it did its acid wonders on my metal. The fast and what seems permanent fix, was fiber glass and a thin screen, and a couple plys of fiber glass cloth. That floor is solid and easier to work with than your license plates and self tappers. I also used this method where the body developed some holes, a little hairy bodo for strength and hold for the surface smoothing bondo and it looks really good. where you have some bends and the fiberglass doesnt want to behave, use clear shipping tape to hold the shape. That tape comes right off after the fiberglas has cured. You say you want this car for a daily driver, so if you are not going to paint the frame, which is hard work, my suggestion is to use mineral oil..yes you got buy it, or use used tranny fluid. use a spray bottle set on stream, go under and hit everything that is rust. EVERYTHING including the oil pan, suspension, nuts, frame, get under the hood in the metal pinch areas, doors, body. Its not a lot of work, just a little time but it stops the rust and it changes color from orange rust to a darkish grey. might give a couple squirts in the rockers and inside the frame if you have tubes, just saying. From what I see, you only have holes on some of the sheet metal, and you can plug that. That floor metal inside the car, you can easily fiberglass in there, just rough the surface up a bit, use a rust changer then fiberglas. fiberglass accepts just about any shape, and will cover holes pretty darn easily and become rather solid. If you have something bolting to the floor you can either make that are thick fiberglass or embed a metal piece.

Behold the brilliance ! Yes, these cars are great, but this particular one with it's spec and history is really very special. My favourite of the Pole Barn fleet. Oh man, that sound. There must be stories to be told, and perhaps even old photographs, of this old Sheriff's special. So glad to see you so pleased with it, Dalton. The reactions from both you and Jess on the first drive were a real treat. Thank you.

I can still remember when I was in High school in the 60s, a friend's buddy living next door had a 67 2+2 as/the 428 HO that he stripped of a lot of the stock bolt-on stuff and replaced with pure racing parts. Then he took it to Connecticut Drag Way and beat everything in his class for two years before converting back to stock. I went to his house one day to check out all his trophies! It was a whole wall, quite immense. The color of that car was Teal, like another friends GTO was for '67.
