This is a beautiful, under-the-radar track. It would be interesting to hear details about writing and recording the song, things like the inspiration, song starting point (guitar, piano, a special chord or melody phrase) and from later the studio session(s) things like the location, atmosphere, personnel, the instrumentation (e.g. is that a slap bass or keyboard in the low range), how many takes to track it?

Same. You can find endless anecdotes about some songs (usually popular ones, naturally) but the lack of information on these ones almost gives them a mysterious quality. We'll probably never know most of the circumstances behind its creation, yet it's great all the same.

@@GuyDude-hk8uy The Denny Laine "Live from Two" interview from 1980 has some clues on the song origin and message along with an acoustic rendition (amazing to see!). Laurence Juber's book "Guitar with Wings: A Photographic Memoir" has a section about the Wings recording sessions at Lympne Castle. The notes include info on Paul McCartney's initially unreleased songs from those session, the book might have some notes on Denny's Weep for Love.

@@djkingstonvibes Cheers for the info! Big fan of Paul's lesser-known stuff with Wings, so naturally came across and enjoy the stuff he did with Denny around that time too. Really like "Holly Days".

@@GuyDude-hk8uy Happy to help where I can. I have a Denny Laine Playlist on KZbin if you want to check it out. Indeed a couple Holly Days tracks are included (the McCartneys and Laine did some good work on those), some live Wings (Time to Hide), and Laine/McCartney jams (Young Love) and Wings' alternative tracks (Getting Closer with Denny Laine lead vocal). (I tried including a KZbin link, but including a link seems to block my comment.) ... Add on... For the lesser known Wings tracks with McCartney lead vocals, if you have not seen them, Mama's Little Girl and Waterspout are the best to my ear (I have Wings / McCartney - Mama's Little Girl posted on a recent video)

@@djkingstonvibes How did I never know that there was a version of Getting Closer with Denny Laine lead vocal?! I'll give it a listen. Great taste in McCartney's "cold cuts" ;) I *adore* Mama's Little Girl and Water Spout; it's absurd how he can write songs like that and essentially just throw them away! Wonderful to chat with someone with similar tastes :)

Macca might have rated Denny Laine, but not quite enough to include this beauty on his 1979 flop album Back to the Egg. However, the album might well have done better with its inclusion -- very short sighted on Macca's part I reckon.....

It was recorded after the album was finished! In late May 1979
