It's 2020. I have a Denon AVR-X2300W that's hardly ever used. Last week I had to test a LCD projector so I connected the AVR up just to get better sound. Worked fine for a week. Stopped for a couple days and today I tried to power it up but got the "Blinking red light of Death"! Looking thru several other posts on the topic, figured it could be a problem with one of the regulators but will be tedious for me to work on it or send it out for repairs and risk a local tech no knowing what was wrong and charging me a bomb for the trouble. Was thinking about when I'll likely be able to find some time to do it myself when I came across this video. Figured I've got nothing to lose, so I checked the cables on those connectors. a couple were bent at awkward angles etc so I went about reseating all the cables in those connectors going into the power amp board. Plugged in the power and .........no more blinking red light!!! WTH!!! Thanks for the tip, Steve.

Grazie!

Thanks from Australia Steve Koehle! Followed your video after seeing the "red blinking led" symptom and checked cable finding it good and sound. My issue was caused by moving the AVR-X4000 and changing connections around. I solved it by doing a "Factory settings reset" then a rerun through the initial setup from the Quick Start Guide.

Great to know if this happens to my x4000 👏👏👏 had different kind of problem would go into protect mode over heating. Sent to denon for repair still happend only improvement he did was put scratch marks where they unscrewed it denon tried getting me to pay £90 for new cover I refused and said it was in mint condition. When I sent it to them and said I woukd never buy a denon product again sent me a free top cover lol. In end did master reset and use 2 corsair fans to push cold air in and other to pull warm air out never had it go into protect mode again

This is likely… not a very common cause of red light failures. But interesting that you found that.

Many thank for this workaround but it does not work on my AVR-X 4000 ! Issue still there after... May be the contact issue is on the other side of the plug !? (but it is not accessible) or any other advice ?

I have this reciever with an HDMI problem. Unit works for an HOUR or so when cold then video through HDMI gets fuzzy until unit locks out. (RCA video still works fine) No red light just stays on and eventually freezes up. frustrating! I am talking to Denon now and they want me to try a new HDMI cord and factory reset. Who doesn't do all that before calling anyway?? right? Any comments or help would be appreciated. I think it has a bad HDMI board. There is a video on here how to fix an ONKYO HDMI board but nothing on the Denon. Probly doesnt happen as often on a Denon AVR's?

I have a Denon x4000 receiver, and it has a similar behavior. However, it doesn't do it immediately after turning it on. It randomly turns off and the red light blinks. It really is quite random, with no obvious trigger. It happens and low or high volume, and with any source. I can turn it back on immediately and it will turn back on like nothing happened. Another strange symptom to this issue is that I get a 'pop' sound from the center channel whenever the AVR turns on or off. Any ideas?

stealth418 I have same problem with my 3 year old X4000. No root cause still found. For me usually manually turning ZONE 2 & 3 on and off again helps.

I'm sorry, I am not familiar with that unit. A good visual inspection for bad connections and poor solder joints is always a good start!

Hey I'm having a similar problem but it takes longer to shut down like that (several minutes). I opened my unit that plug looks fine. Here's details of the issue. If you have any more advice I'm open to suggestions. www.avsforum.com/forum/90-receivers-amps-processors/2639825-denon-x4000-problem-out-warranty-need-help.html#post48111353
