Hi Ezyah! I went to college for 4 years and then I applied for dental school. You can't go to dental school right after high school because there are a lot of college pre-requisites that you have to take. Some include biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, math, and writing. You also have to take the Dental Admission's Test (DAT) in order to apply to dental school.

Hi Kayla, I am just going to school. I worked throughout undergraduate college and knew that working while being in dental school would be too much for me and the money I would make would not be worth the the valuble time I'd be losing. My housemate and a couple other people in my class work though. Most people work as dental hygienist because they also happen to have a hygiene degree. We get all of Thursdays off so they usually work on a Thursday and maybe a weekend day. If I was a hygenist, I would work too because the money they make (sometimes $500 a day) would be worth the time! I would say working one day a week and having exam weeks off, is doable. You would just be extremely busy of course. I am although recieving a paycheck every two weeks because I am under a military scholarship through the Navy. I have a video on how much I make with that scholarship on my channel. It's a little over $5,000 a month and it doesn't take up any of my time while I'm in dental school.

I’ve always been set on pre-med but I want to explore other options and am starting to think maybe dental or optometry school would give me the lifestyle I want monetarily and family oriented when I’m older rather than MD. I would love your thoughts on why you chose dentistry and how your dental school experience has been compared to medical school of other people you may know!! Thank you so much!!!:)

kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKDOqImAlKyMmc0 Hi Paige! I talk about why I chose dentistry in this video. I never considered medical school because I know I didn't want my career to consume my entire life. (I want to be able to start a family and spend a lot of time with them.) I knew I wouldn't have to complete a residency program as a dentist and the hours of work can be very flexible. If you go to medical school, you would have to complete a residency program and there will be times when you are "on-call" and are working many hours.

What do you mount the molds? What would you do with that outside of school?
@ErikaCorrea5 жыл бұрын
The molds are a representation of your patient when they are not in front of you. If your patient falls and breaks their tooth for example, you need to be able to build them a tooth similar to their original tooth. You can see what their original teeth looked like from the molds. We also take these molds of patients in the clinic.

Hello! I don't know how I saw this comment so late but I hope your interview went great! If you enjoy group work, you'll be fine in PBL. If you enjoy learning the material on your own then PBL might be annoying in the beginning but I'm sure it will grow on you later on.

Erika Correa May I ask what’s PBL?
@ErikaCorrea5 жыл бұрын
@@ryanpossible10 PBL stands for problem based learning. We meet up twice a week in group of 8 dental students and 1 doctor/faculty. We then go through a medical/dental patient case and discuss it. We then come up with "learning needs" which are things that we want to learn so it can better help us with the case. We then go home and do out own research and then present our findings to the group on the day we meet. The next day, we find out something new about out patient in the case and we continue to discuss and create learning needs. In my opinion it's a pretty effective way to learn.

My daughter is deciding between USC and UoP, from your experience at USC what would be your advice for her? We live in Southern Cal. Thank you!
@ErikaCorrea3 жыл бұрын
My best friend is a student at UOP dental! Since it’s accelerated, it makes it a very tough program. I haven’t experienced UOP myself but I talk to my friend all the time and the program is intense. I think USC is easier in the sense that the curriculum is not rushed. USC is also a lot more expensive since it’s a year longer than UOP. I have had a great experience at USC though! It’s a very fun school to go to because it’s on the undergraduate campus so I still got to experience going to football games and the lifestyle of living in LA. My family also lives in LA do USC was the perfect choice for me. Questions your daughter should ask herself: Do you want to get dental school over with fast or would you rather take a little longer and possibly enjoy your time more? Less student loans vs more student loans? I think she would get a great education at both schools. I hope this helps!

What's the homework like in dental school? do they assign projects/ homework that you have to do? or are there just exams so you spend your time just studying for those?
@ErikaCorrea6 жыл бұрын
Hi Amber! We did always have projects and they involved us going into the sim lab to work on them later. A lot of it is just practical homework that can't be done at home because we need to use our hand pieces. Therefore, we spend a lot of time in sim lab. We'll do not spend much time studying, although it's not like this at every dental school. From my experience at USC, I've spent most of my time completing projects and researching my topics for PBL. We only really starting studying about 2 weeks before exam week. We have so many assignments due during the week that there just isn't enough time to study for exams until later (when they decrease the amount of projects).

The Lord Jesus Christ loves you unconditionally!!! Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me Thank you for reading. The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace Have a good day! Amen in Jesus Christ precious name. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: herefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and aredriven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, ot obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. Fear God

Hello!! I still encourage you to pursue dentistry! I also had crooked teeth and I talked about it in my "why I choose dentistry video". Once you start dental school, orthodontic treatment is 50% off if you get it done at the school. That's is a great deal and a great way to no longer be insecure about your teeth. Definitely take advantage of this! This trimester we have been learning how to clean teeth on each other. Every week I have to let my classmate look into my mouth so they can practice cleaning my teeth. There is never any judgement though! You're going to be seeing all types of teeth once you're a dentist and you're not going to judge your patient.
