The Atlanta Hotel is worth a visit if for no other reason than to see the public areas. The lobby is classic art deco style, and they also have a small library of historic books. They were Bangkok's first hotel to have a swimming pool which is directly in back of the lobby in a garden setting.

Next time you're in Hua Hin and you've got a bit of money to throw around and you want a good meal, go to this place called Prime Steakhouse. Beautiful decor, great menu and best Aussie steak outside of Straya! Best restaurant I have been to in all of Thailand in my times going over.

First stayed in the Atlanta back in 1983. The Soi was much quieter back then. Dirt cheap too, 10 Baht for curry and rice in the Atlanta restaurant.

I stayed at hotel Icon on Sukhumvit 2 a few years ago, it was only $41 Aussie a night, the prices seem to have been hiked a bit now. It was a nice hotel, very small gym, the only problem I had was that the pool area was full of chain smoking Japanese men every time I went for a swim.

I almost didn't recognize the Atlanta, with a facelift and surrounded by all the new hotels and apartments. Lots of history there, they are very picky about who they let in. In the past, they were pretty much the only hotel on that Soi. If they even thought you were on the hunt, they would refuse booking. They had lots of animals wandering the grounds, antiques from an older Thailand, and would have concerts and recitals for the guests, some of whom were long-term residents. A real piece of Bangkok history, now buried in nouveau craptastic luxury... I cringed when I saw your 180 baht breakfast. I know you eat Thai food sometimes, but for a Western breakfast you can still do much better. A place you need to know is Took lae Dee ('cheap and good') inside Foodland market on Sukhumvit Soi 5. They serve many Western dishes, not huge quantities, but good value and an institution in Sukhumvit. Counter seating at that branch; other Foodlands (not every one has the restaurant) have tables. Good to see you getting to know this side of Bangkok. Really enjoy your vids.

Only dentist you should use in bkk is on soi 5 smile dental its part of the malo clinic if you have any problems after you can go do there franchises in melbourne or Brisbane for free

That breakfast looked shit and more expensive than UK. Dentist lot cheaper though. I’ve stayed at that hotel a few times, quite a bit cheaper than the big 5 stars but pool and gym always empty so better for me.
