Nice review 😊 and yes a agree with this statement 4:55, there are too many types of things that we can call details. And many people will say just ,,it has details,, but actually better way is to describe it like u did (to describe what you actually hear by ur own ears and dont be lazy and just call it details...😀, if u know what I mean 🙃). Keep going, Sub🔥

Er2se is just amazing, it's my favorite in ear headphone. Also considering it's $55 price these are no brainier. Comparing er2se to er2xr, while considering both of these headphones have same fr graph on mids and highs: er2se sounds much airy, tonally more correct and realistic to me. Also since er2se is smooth, it's less fatiguing. Love your vids keep it up!

Hello Sir👋 I'm mixing and EQing music in my home studio using IEMs, and then play these music back at a night club. Unfortunately I can't by monitor speakers since I'm surrounded by elderly neighbors and I don't want to bother them at 3-5 Am everyday. And yes I sleep at 6 Am🤣 Which one of the 3 models would be the most beneficial for me regarding the accuracy when mixing and EQing. Er4 SR, Er3 SR, or Er2 SR or Er2 Se ?? Thank you for your great video 🌹

if i were in your shoes i'd get the er2xr. you can tweak the response a little with filters, but that is by far the best bass response of any etymotic I've heard, primarily because it is a dynamic driver. i don't find balanced armatures very good at representing bass.. but the er2xr with brown filter share a similar response to the er2se but with better bass.

How would you compare them to the blessing 2 dusk?
@dentReviews2 жыл бұрын
similar in that they both aim for a relatively neutral sound. I think overall i'd prefer the fit and sound of the dusk, but honestly the blessing 2 stock is probably closer to the er2se in overall sound. the etymotic has better treble IMO, but the bass of the blessing 2 is just awesome. very low rumble and quality bass but not at all boosted. the dusk bass is a little bit low boosted. so if treble is absolutely critical, i'd say i prefer the er2se, but if all else is in question blessing 2 then dusk...

Damn, I just ordered these yesterday, and was hoping to hear I'd be able to EQ in a bass shelf to my taste. Maybe I should cancel my order and get the ER2XR instead.
@dentReviews2 жыл бұрын
they're both excellent iems. i can't say which you would personally prefer, but the er2xr is simply more capable of bass when needed. you can eq er2se to sound great in the bass, but it will still be different... it is a different driver and has a different sound. you may even like er2se bass without eq. it is very linear, but many people don't like linear bass. i do, but i personally prefer dd driver texture....
@lth_lch2 жыл бұрын
@@dentReviews Received them yesterday. They are indeed bass-light for my preference, and I hear what you mean when you say they're a bit strained when attempting to EQ in the bass, but despite that I think I'll keep them anyway. The tuning is smoother and more refined than my Blon BL-03s (the Blons actually sound a little splashy in the treble in comparison, which I didn't think I'd ever say about them) on top of being a good bit more detailed, and I think they'll serve well as the neutral reference set in my collection from here on. I'm surprised fit wasn't as much of an issue as I thought it'd be, and comfort wasn't a problem after some initial getting used to, so I'll be more than happy to use these over the Blons when I need noise isolation. The only things I'm kind of disappointed with are the cable, which is actually quite annoying, and the sensitivity. I could forgive the kinda jank quality of the cable if it wasn't microphonic, if it wasn't expensive to replace, and if it were not part of a proprietary design, but it's all three. Max volume on my phone with the apple dongle just barely gets it to adequate listening levels for me whereas I only need 70-80% to get there with the Blons, so I may need to invest in a more powerful source if I want to get the most out of them. Nevertheless I think these are an excellent value for what they are. They're not the last word in engagement factor, but that's not what they're advertised to be, and that's not what I expected of them.
@dentReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@lth_lch a few things just to try. first, even if fits well, make sure they are deep. the angle in the cable where it bends at the earpiece should be up against your ear. make sure it isn't sticking out much. shallow depth even a little will increse resonances and skew the sound to be brighter which in turn makes them less bassy. next, when eqing, only apply eq to less than 60 to 80 hz with a somewhat steep rolloff. otherwise it will make them warmer and further tax the driver ability. and per etymotic 6-8db is getting bassy for the er2se. pushing it further could damage the driver under certain circumstances due to over excursion. if you need that much boot you're better off with a different model. lastly, use them a while and you may find they aren't as light or unengaging as they seem. but who knows, maybe not. lol. er2xr will fix your bass issue for sure if you think er2se sounds good and the bass is tolerable but low and maybe a bit soft in impact...
@lth_lch2 жыл бұрын
@@dentReviews The angled connector is right up against the notch in my concha, and I don't think I can get them any deeper even if I wanted to, plus I don't perceive them to be especially bright, so I don't think it's a lack of seal skewing the FR. It really is just a bit bass light for my preference (I'm kind of a basshead, so I already knew this going in). I had the bass shelf set to 8dB at 100Hz so that it comes down right around 300Hz, as that's about the perfect spot for a bass shelf to come down to prevent bleeding into the mids without also being too lean imo, but I'll try setting it at a lower frequency and see if that works better, though I'm not usually a fan of a Harman-style bass shelf. I'll also consider doing some tip rolling and maybe EQ in a small boost in the mid-treble region, but I think it's more likely that I don't find them super exciting to listen to simply because they don't get loud enough with my current source. Using them with the apple dongle on my laptop provides more than enough power to make them sound punchy, but they're just on the edge of being a little quiet when listening through my phone. Anyways, thanks for the tips, and for responding to my comments so fast. You've got a new sub.

@@lth_lch 60hz boost is definitely not harman :-P i personally prefer it slope down no fsrther than 100hz on etymotics otherwise is sounds too soft. lower gives you slam (as much as they allow) and body without mid bass bleed. but it is definitely a preference. ety may be bass light for you, it's just thst they only handle so much eq. I'm starting to think stock er2xr might be your thing. but maybe 2se will grow on you with eq.

is there a free mod that add bass to er2se ? what happens when you remove the default green filter (and leave it without any filter), what happens to the sound ? thanks

@@dentReviews i was trying to understand how these filters affect sound, it mush be a difference in mesh density/grid size that let more or less high frequency pass through the mesh ( typical iem free mod to reduce trebble is to add microporous tape over the mesh, the filter kit is $29 )
