Wonder if any of this applies to the Denver suburbs too or just City of Denver proper? And I have a story for 9 News about how people get forced into homelessness that's unfolding right now to some people I know. The short of it is that through a probably not uncommon series of events, the home owner who has been a resident for some 32 years is being forced out by the mobile home park. The longer version is that her whole family has lived in this park all these decades so they could be close by to one another. Her mom and dad in one home and her grandmother and cousin in another, all who lived there for a year or two before she moved into her own unit in the park. Most of her family has passed away so it's just her now and she's living permanently in her parents home after moving over several years ago to help care for them and so they could stay there during their final years. But now the park is making her reapply to live there because she isn't in her original unit anymore even though it's still the same park - just a different trailer and lot space. And (here it comes) due to her financial situation which is hampered by age, disability, and years out of the workforce while caring for her parents full-time, she no longer meets the standards of the park management in 2023. Consequently, this will cause not only her to join the ranks of the homeless but the two other friends-in-need living with her who she is helping to keep from being homeless - even if it is just an old mobile home.

The vast majority doesn't have a similar story though. People like her can get help. Exceptions are not the rule. What we are dealing with is a lot of young people who are completely able to work refusing to do so because they want to be left alone to continue to whatever the hell they want to do. They don't want to live under rules and they don't want to get clean. These people can't even hold down a job to even begin to think of paying rent. As a young adult I held a job down and split the cost of rent with friends. You could lower the cost of rent and it wouldn't matter one but as they don't have an income and don't want to work. I see these people every day. The ones I don't see are the cases like you brought up because they can get help and are not hindered by their drug use or criminal record.

He is in the hospitality business. He is not the general manager yet the owner expects him to handle registration, ordering housekeeping supplies, pool clean, make menus for the restaurants, and accounting of all money transactions. I don't wish homelessness on anyone but come on man. Some ppl choose to be in that position. Others don't, with that being said my family and I were homeless for a few months after coming to the states from P.R. We were fortunate enough that someone gave us a helping hand until benefits through the gvmt came thru. Coming from that situation shaped me into the man I've become today. Went to school, got a certification, have a good paying job, bought a house, so that my wife and kids don't go thru the same things I went thru. By no means im saying it's easy, but as a minority living here in the states I made it happen. With that being said, be safe and blessed.

I bet ya if they actually paid people enough to keep up with cost of living like we used to here in America, the homeless problem would die down significantly. That and stop price gouging the cost of a home. Used car prices are insane now too. Expect the auto sales industry to start tanking here soon because they are asking over $50,000 for used vehicles with over 75,000 miles on them. People are just going to go to Wyoming or any other state to get a used car and have a little road trip back home.

No, this is problem of supply and demand. The state's political leaders encouraged mass migration to the state, and especially the Front Range, without incentivizing the housing development and getting the infrastructure funding needed to accommodate everyone that was moving there. That all started to come home to roost as early as 2016 when prices started their rocket ride. Growth doesn't pay for itself, and unlimited growth is the logic of a cancer cell.

You know nothing of the society in which you rest upon the writhing suffering of millions. Our nation is cursed with much evil. And so much evil comes from this pathetic ignorance. You probably would think that trans people just oughta deal with being forced to be housed in dangerous situations because most shelters are religious in nature and have well-established patterns of causing additional pain for lgbtq homeless. Oh and guess what happened to kids that come out to trans to their Christian parents? There are also the chronically ill who might have a service animal not permitted in a shelter, others have animals for protection and if you don’t understand this, then fine, ok dude, its clear youve never been a woman walking alone at night, that’s ok because society normalizes men arresting their own emotional and intellectual development, just make sure to note that women might like the protection of a dog, and homeless people all the more so. The rules for shelters, plus scarcity, makes it all an unending nightmare to those in it and then there are people like YOU. The tent cities are not there because of drugs. There were drugs in the sixties. The tents are there because there is no future, there is nothing, and I fear the rhetoric on the right is on the precipice of normalizing industrial murder, and not for the first time.

@@firstlast8258 10/10 psychiatrists disagree, also insulin is technically dispensed as a drug, but whatever, maybe you only mean damaging drugs, hopefully. I fear maybe you’re just opposed to modern medicine like one of those cruel fascists from Gilead of Handmaiden’s Tale infamy? My parents were like this. No SSRIs, no antiseizure meds, only a few medications were ok for arbitrary reasons. Beatings for the seizures, exorcisms for the migraines, solitary isolation for self harm, threatened homelessness for the gay, but therapy and medications were of the devil blah blah blah, you know, fairly typical Christian upbringing.
