Oprah should have stepped in and verbally addressed the issue with a direct shot at Warner Brothers and whoever else! But instead, she made it a "Taraji thing," by her gestures, and the things she didn't say! Oprah is obsessed with this story! We are over it. Who wanted to see this movie again?...We stand with all the actors who continue to be disrespected in that way!!!! Monique and others warned us!!

I agree no one wants to see the color purple again. She's so attached to that project because she was nominated for an award and it's a ego-boost for her even though it brings her people back in to the hell their ancestors lived through. This is a time to make inspiring films about people that are legends in the Black community. I would have loved to see a bio pic on Eartha Kitt. What a brillant queen or Nina Simone.

The very fact that Oprah thought that this generation would appreciate - let alone be interested - in a reboot of The Color Purple, in 2024, just further shows that she's out of touch with the times and, maybe as a billion, out of touch with the challenges of the working actor, especially that of black actors. That said, I'm not at all surprised that she didn't think to - or care to (even worse) - ensure that her cast was compensated accordingly.

It’s deeper than her being out of touch! My opinion is she has always been for yt ppl. She does not show any love for Black ppl, unless they can put a lot of money in her pocket. Most ppl are fooled by her, but I’ve watched her over the years, dishonor and disrespect many Black ppl.. Her show centered around middle class white women the whole 25 years. Anyone what to argue any of these points, I’m here for it, and old enough to remember!

It’s unfortunate this whole situation. I feel awful that these accomplished women have had to continuously deal with this type of lowballing and discrimination. It hurts more when it’s your own people. I stopped caring for Oprah because of her comments she made after she opened her school in Africa. When asked why she didn’t open a School for Black girls here in America, she said she didn’t think that we would appreciate it as much. As a young black woman at the time whose great grandmother was liberated from slavery, who lived during the Civil War, I was gutted by her words. And I never forgive her for saying that pitting us against one another. So I’m not surprised.

And not for Appreciation- or glorification. You do it because you can, and that it is needed-and out of compassion. I remember her saying that and regretted hearing her words. You are worthy and as you said it should not have been said in such a competitive spirit! She could have built 2(IMO). Know that you( all) are loved and encouraged. Live your best life❤

What is blaring is that Oprah had to be constantly told by these actresses what was wrong. One thing is mentioned, you fix it. Another thing is mentioned, you fix it, and so on. Why couldn't she just ENSURE that they were taken care of from the get go?!!! She was right there, didn't she have eyes to see it? This is not Warner Bros first show, so shouldn't they know how to treat these actors? Shouldn't they know how much to pay them?! Oprah must have been present at the meetings. What was she thinking?!! She thought she and WB would get away with it. Was racism? Was it anti feminism? So many things were wrong. How is it that they felt that they could do these injustices and get away with it? I feel that they took these women for granted.

Denzel said it right! Sidney Portie advised him well. Made him think/process the game! I understand needing to work I get that I fully do. But we can't be so hungry or eager that we just except what they sell by shaking dollars in our faces. Every Black person has heard the phrase " ALL MONEY AIN'T GOOD MONEY!" Gotta know better gotta choose better. That said, I wouldn't say they took them for Granted. Think about it. Those things that took place were NOT oversights. Of course, this is not the first time out for Oprah and Warner brothers making movies. She know what it is, they know how it goes. Come on! What they did was took ADVANTAGE of them! It was INTENTIONAL! They had ZERO RESPECT for them. They felt they were doing them a favor, by ALLOWING them to be in what they pumped them up to believe, was an amazing opportunity. Pumped up how it would once again be a great movie. SMH.. Yeah, uh, yeah, right, maybe 30 years ago, or however old that film is. But NOPE, NOT today. Oprah INCLUDING her side kick Gayle king and the circle of Deceivers, Wicked handlers, True Idiots played Taraje, Fantasia & the other!!! THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN. Nothing. EVERY SINGLE THING DONE IN DARKNESS, IS ALWAYS EVENTUALLY EXPOSED!!! A L W A Y S!

It is so sad but true. I have worked on the crew side of the film and television industry for years. It devastated me when I realized that the ones who will pay you the least and screw you over the most is black owned production companies. As a black crew member I was so excited to start working with a company that was owned by a group of black producers, it was one of the worst choices I made to sign on to work with them. Between the lower pay scale and horrible working conditions, it made me hate doing a career I loved dearly.

Of all the things companies about, WHY WAS THERE NO FOOD? I don’t understand how that’s even a thing. No food? Oprah had to request food as if it’s something extra? 😮 While all cooped up in the same dressing room with no food should’ve been the opening to put the hammer down and say, “This is unacceptable. From here on out, basic expectations are: X, Y & Z. If not met, then it’s a wrap.” Clearly the shenanigans were allowed to go and on.

Hi! New subscriber! I am as white as they come and here is my perspective: studios will always try to bully the “lower” cast, black cast even more. Unless you are already a huge name ( Denzel, DeNiro) they will scrape every dollars they can. Hollywood was racist and still is, but foremost Hollywood is a capitalist machine that would rather see most of the crew poor and happy, and a few privileged rich and happy. I rewatched the interview between the one and only Morgan Freeman and Don Lemon, plus what Denzel said about culture….they hit the nail….Racism is a cover for the greedy economics of Hollywood and the rest of the big Consortiums in the US. Money, money, money…. Another point to consider: the Golden Age of Hollywood is gone. We had a few Stars and they carried the industry through; now, we have HUNDREDS of hundreds of smaller, talented actors and the studios can pick a fabulous talent and not pay for the big star name! It is all about money, will always be! As for Oprah, after what happened in Hawaii and other things, I tend not to like her anymore but that is another story. Personally, I don’t care if a cast is white or black, if a movie is good, I will watch and spend my hard earned coins on it. One of my all time favorite is Nope from Jordan Peele. It does touch the subject of movie making and racism by the way, even if it is way more…( a modern masterpiece in my mind) I hope I didn’t offend anybody, since I can’t know the experience of being black in America nowadays.

I don’t agree that Oprah is at fault for the Color Purple movie musical failing at the box office. Oprah is not responsible for the food on set, or the cast’s travel arrangements. This is up to the studio. Infact, Taraji admitted that when she mentioned her issues to Oprah, Oprah fixed it. Taraji’s team is responsible for negotiating her salary. She could have also asked for a car and driver to take her back and forth to the set in her contract. Wendy Williams asked for this when she had her TV show. I don’t think Denzel was even talking about Oprah in his article, he was saying the industry as a whole doesn’t respect black artists. Now personally I don’t think we needed this movie, but I will support it by going to see at the cinema so that movies telling black stories continue to be made.

One day I hope to be as happy as some of you. I will be 48 on Sunday and I feel like I lost in life. Lost my mom 2 days before Mother's Day last year. Uncle year before and so on.

Be gentle with yourself, and allow yourself to grieve when it’s time to grieve. But also fill your social media, pages with people and places that ONLY make you happy, and helps to fill the silence when you’re feeling low, that will inspire you. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. You are unique. And you deserve an opportunity for peace and love. You are worthy.

May you be able to find peace with the losses you may. We often think because the physical body is no longer here that the spiritual person is still not with you. Grief will never goes away but you have to look up to be able to see the sun shine. You can't look to anyone else to give you the feeling that you need. I understand your loss but what are some of the good things that have happened to you some small medium or large you woke up this morning breathing. May you find a way to overcome the loss that you feel and get back to living you're only 48 or 47 next month and I'm still trying to figure it out everyday I wake up I realized this is one less day I'm going to have to spend with my nieces and nephews or husband so don't continue to follow in your grief your family wouldn't want you to do that but don't be locked up in a space get back out there and live. Blessing

Good night auntie Fumi, uncle Ole, Adrian and my S2S family. You couldn’t say it better auntie Fumi, it is a shame that someone like Oprah would stoop so low about her own people/complexion. Such a shame that people have to cry because they are being cheated out of their own pay Check due to their skin colour. How long do we have to put up with this; all industries where blacks are they receive less pay for the same work. I pray that one day Martin Luther “I had a dream” will come to pass. Blessings from up north auntie Fumi, shalom❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️

Oprah unfortunately has the attitude of "it's not happening to her, so she doesn't care." It's very sad that our community has done this time after time..Kudos to Denzel Washington, 50Cent, and others for speaking up.

Okra believes there's only room for one Black female Billionaire. She's 'nawt' giving up her spot!! She sees these Black women as beneath her - "be glad you got a job..if you don't want the job, many others will take it for even less!" She should have made way for the women coming up! We already know others likely will not look out for these Black women. Many are not surprised by Okra's actions. 😞 - - - Our crowns! Love, love your video with your hair journey and stylist! 😍 Yes, we must love ourselves and part of self love is our crowns! I am making every effort to love my 4-c hair! ❤ One day at a time!! 😘

Oprah has been hiding behind a carefully cultivated image for decades. You don’t get to her status or level of success without being cunning, shrewd, and frankly ruthless. She has NEVER been nice. Two things that made me realize just calculating she is: 1) She convinced the world that she was the one giving away all of those cars to teachers when in fact it was Pontiac; 2)Her family is usually the ones telling all of her business. She’s got great lawyers who create air-tight NDAs that all of her employees and guests sign, but her family doesn’t. And most people don’t have the balls to go against the great Oprah risking Hollywood banishment like Mo’Nique did. I stopped supporting her years ago….and I never intended on going to see The Color Purple.

Thank you Auntie Fumi for this. Denzel Washington is a man of impeccable integrity and gravitas, so his words and wisdom carry weight. Katt Williams is a comedian who we now know also has integrity as far as his revelations recently, and we see the commonality in what they have said, also The Colour Purple film was a complete waste of time. The original was enough and we did not need a reminder, we have moved on. It will be very interesting to see what flies out of the bushes. Blessings x

I remember that Tyler received some bad press recently, but your videos remind of the good he has done. He may have some skeletons in his closet (of which I don't know) but what I do know is that he has helped a lot of people. This video is ON POINT!! Thank you, Fumi. I'm new to your channel. My repeat comment .... Sometimes it takes a "Taraji" and a "Denzel" to expose the truth, even at the expense of ones own career. Being the voice of change isn't always popular, but it is necessary when pointing out the disparities behind the scenes. Again, Martin Luther King said it best, "Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!" Brothers and Sisters, The Bible says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed". The Black community must come together in Truth, and stand for righteousness, doing what is right, even when your livelyhood/career is threatened. Sometimes you have to lose in order to win! 🕊🙏🏾❤️ Your hair looks fabulous! God Bless you.🕊
