A big thing I liked about Crimson Tide is that it didn't portray an extremely high-stakes struggle between good and evil--it portrayed a big struggle between 2 different views about how to do the right thing.

President Carter was an officer on a nuclear submarine. That's what I was expecting. I served on a nuke sub (SSN) from '83-'88. Not a big fan of CT from a technical standpoint. Sure it was a Boomer, but I knew other sailors that were on SSBNs so I knew enough about them. (Boomers, Part-time sailors...)

Y'all tricked me! I were thinking of president James Earl Carter: former naval officer.. worked closely with the late Admiral Hyman Rickover, who were known as the father of what became today's nuclear navy! That Jimmy Carter! A great man, a former president that got a bad rap.. who's still doing great things at age 96! God bless you Mr president and first lady Roslyn. Married for 76 years!

Now, a talk with the inventor of the nuclear navy would’ve been interesting. In the PBS Rickover movie, he’d said we’d probably destroy ourselves in a nuclear war. Unfortunately, he passed on in ‘86. This movie was in 95. But he would’ve picked the movie apart. Too many failures all coming together at once.

In the comments someone replied to a comment that read it was an insult to ask if Denzel was intimidated or experienced *_stage fright,_* wow, by working with Gene Hackman. The reply, more or less, said that since Denzel wasn't bothered by the question the commenter must be of this new generation that's insulted by everything. Well God willing I'll be 69 next month and at my age I take a lot of things I see and hear with grains of salt so I'm not too insulted by anything. But keeping it real this question really did irk me; even stunned me a little. I immediately thought "so Denzel is good but not as brilliant as Gene Hackman?" Is this what this guy's implying?" Ok the interviewer probably wasn't implying anything of the sort but that's what I thought. 'And I am a huge Gene Hackman fan. Ever since he was in *_Bonnie and Clyde,_* which I saw at the theater in '67, I've been mesmerized by every movie that I've seen of his. Anyway, soon as I heard the question I went to the comments to see if anybody else thought the same and some did. Denzel actually says he's never been intimidated by any actor. He's one of my top 3 favorite actors of all time and currently my favorite. I like this guy so much that I feel he should win an Oscar for every movie he makes! 😁 However, after really thinking about the question it's not without precedent, at least in my mind it's not. I remember reading years ago that Bette Davis, *_IMO_* the greatest actress/actor to come out of Hollywood, said that when she worked with Claude Rains, Captain Renault in Casablanca, she told his daughter, Jessica Rains, that he frightened her. There's a short Interview here on YT with her actually saying that her father did indeed frighten Bette. I thought this was rather revealing because by the time she and Rains did their first picture together, *_Juarez,_* Davis had already won two Oscars but I don't know if she meant that Rains was intimidating on or off the movie set.

Karen or uh, i mean Katie Couric, tried to pigeonhole Denzel as anything but a normal person with the right to speak his mind and she was surprised when he refused her categorisation. Truth is she was startled by someone standing up for himself and not playing the role she wanted him to. Also I think she grew up thinking black people should know their place. She may have shed most of that but this shows not all.

@@Tusc9969 ah yes, just call the white lady you don’t like a Karen and you win. That term is a simple tag and it’s crap in many applications. Based on a narrow definition that basically everyone agrees that Karen’s (meaning entitled and ignorant white women… but people should realize there are entities and ignorant assholes all over.) anyway, I m just saying… don’t be so eager to label/tag someone as a certain type or thing when the criteria is half based on race. It is narrow minded to label someone a Karen and in the process label them for doxxing, firing, etc(there are multiple examples of this type of lynching)(forgive the use of the term) or cancelling/life ruining when it is so easy to get major news sources to pickup the story and spread lies from social media without doing actual journalism…. And then someones life is complete ruined over misinformation spread in a racially motivated manner. Fuck the actual “Karen’s” aka assholes and selfish pos of all types and places and races and addresses. But thinkin before you label something an “it” before you know any of them or the situation .

I would like to work with either Gene Hackman or Denzel Washington for a cinematic storytelling with a compelling story and interesting characters to follow for art in the future. And not to make a good movie that Hollywood does nowadays, which totally failed because it's not about ideology crap than a work of art through the movie medium the focuses on the story and characters and not to make a very good movie for everyone to spend their hard-earned money for. I, currently, am making myself a good writer, and I had come up with 17 original stories with their respective, original characters already. I'm planning to make more as my preparations for my future career as my own author for my own original stories for different mediums of storytelling. I have utmost respect for both of these men/actors with their gifts and talents for acting and storytelling. I truly hope that both are doing just fine nowadays and away from such selfish morons with their smartphones and flashy cameras. Still, I would love to meet both someday and show my respect and appreciation for them and their respective contributions for storytelling and above all, to thank them and wish them both a joyful life to the fullest. 🙂👍🏻👍🏿
