Enzo Bertolo competent? What does that even mean? You do realize that the best boxing analysts have never actually boxed before? Sure you got Roy Jones and Andre Ward, but Max Kellerman and Jim Lampley are next level, and almost anyone would tell you that. It’s a myth that in order to talk about anything, you’ve got to have been part of that thing. That mindset is always used to discredit people, and it’s silly because it’s built upon something you can’t possibly prove. So would Max Kellerman be even more of an excellent commentator if he had boxed? Maybe. For every Andre Ward, you got Paulie who stumbles through commentary, or Sergio Mora who says some real bonehead things all the time. Commentary is about analysis, argumentation, and elocution; and those things anyone can possess. Does having played the sport/participated in it help? Of course it does. But it’s a fraction of what makes a great commentator. Experience is no guarantee of wisdom, as is inexperience a guarantee of naïveté.

Could also be a business thing. This fight will not sell as well as the 2nd fight, but it is still the biggest purse Wilder will make. Joshua _has_ to fight his mandatory, so that's out the window and even then Hearn would have offered peanuts to Wilder coming off the Fury loss. Not too many people now will pay to watch Wilder vs Ruiz or Wilder vs Whyte. So, it was Fury or nothing in terms of making money. I agree with you from a boxing POV by the way. I think the smart move is to take your time, change things in camp, fight someone else, then fight the winner of Fury vs Joshua next year. I just think this is more of a business decision (get the most money while we still can) rather than a boxing decision.

@@anthonyanderson9303 Fury and Wilder have a legally binding contract that meant the loser could ask for a rematch though. There's not much AJ's team can do about that, except offer Wilder money not to exercise his rematch clause, and then guarantee Wilder a shot at the winner of AJ/Fury. AJ's team already talked to Wilder and Fury's team after the 2nd fight and it was a non-starter. In this case, if Wilder wants to go after Fury again there's not much AJ can do.
@anthonyanderson93035 жыл бұрын

The thing about Stephen A., he is a wealth of knowledge about a lot of things, none of them being boxing. He mentioned Lewis coming back after being KO’d by Rahman, however Lewis was Fury in that scenario not Wilder. Lewis was the better boxer who was caught by a bigger puncher. That fight closely mirrored AJ v Ruiz Jr. Stephen A. can look at stats, but he fails the knowledge to properly associate those comparisons.

Breaking News !! Deontay Wilder in hospital after trying on Canada Goose down coat. Deontay Wilder is reportedly "in fine spirit" and recovering well after suffering multiple injuries trying on a Canada Goose coat at the University Mall in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The former WBC heavyweight champion of the world was enjoying some retail therapy following his crushing defeat to Britain's Tyson Fury in round 7 of their rematch in Las Vegas back in February. According to a source, Wilder liked the look of a hefty Canada Goose winter coat and proceeded to try it on, but the substantial weight of the goose down padding made the American fighter's legs unsteady, causing his knees to buckle and leaving him in a crumpled heap on the shop floor with a fractured shoulder and ligament damage in both of his knees. But the 'Bronze Bomber' assured fans in a statement that he is in 'fine spirit' and will be back in training as soon as possible, claiming he will 'rise like a phoenix from the ashes' to take another crack at that beautiful Canada Goose coat.

True, Best to see them both in their primes fighting each other. Anyway, I doubt Fury will go back into depression this time. Last time he went into depression after the Klitschko win was because he was stripped of his belts not long after he won them, the media slated him for his opinions, and he got very little recognition from the British public right after dethroning Klitschko. This time around, the media love him, he's had tons of recognition from fans and he hasn't been stripped of his achievements this time around.
