It’s too late for Wilder to make significant changes. He doesn’t have solid fundamentals to build off of. You’ve got to literally rebuild the guy and he’s nearly 35. It’s only a matter of time before he physically starts to deteriorate and starts slowing down.

Deon Ezell Wilder’s power has reduced. So does it come with aging. He could hardly knock out aging Luis Ortiz after receiving lots of head shots from Wilder in the first and second fight. I NEVER could understand why so few commentators after the second fight mentioned Fury having gotten up from Wilder's thunderous blows in the first one. TWICE! People talk about Wilder still having a puncher's chance in a potential 3rd tilt, but Fury's already shown he can withstand what's supposed to be Wilder's equalizer. Without THAT, what's Wilder got?

I think if anything Wilder was over confident in the rematch. Wilder had taken confidence from knocking Fury down in the first fight and nearly out. Wilder had 2 spectacular knockout wins since then against Breazeale and Ortiz so his confidence was sky high. Fury had beat 2 nobodies in Tom Scwarz and Otto Wallin, and struggled against Wallin. Wilder just couldnt see Fury hurting him in the rematch hence the pillow fists jibe. He just thought he had to touch Fury and it would be over. Obviously he was in for a shock! The rematch has definitely taken something from Wilder as he knows old pillow fists can actually punch and isnt scared of him.

Rough Squad When the bell sounded to end the 12th round of their first fight, Fury had dominated the last minute, and basically that mindset carried over into the second fight. It was as if Fury finally figured Wilder out, even though it took him until the last half of the last round to do so. Fury knew he could hurt Wilder, as he staggered him close to the end of the round. Plus, Wilder pretty much checked out after the knockdown, when he did his victory strut and throat slashing gesture. When Fury defied all the odds and the fight resumed, Wilder was unable to check back in. His heart wasn’t in it, and he kind of got his ass kicked that last minute.

The thing that made this defeat even more crushing was the fact that Wilder was actually confident he would beat Fury otherwise he would have never taken the fight. Wilder never likes to take a fight unless he's confident he can win a lose to AJ would have been less crushing because he thought he couldn't beat AJ anyway. But to come in so confident to then just get absolutely destroyed will always haunt Wilder the rest of his career as he will always question himself.

The fact is Wilder just can't circle the ring anymore and throw that right hand. He has the ability to be elusive, but he's going to have to hover around I'd say 210-225. I think 231 is fine for someone his size, if your target is stationary and you're looking to end the fight early. Fury doesn't have to doesn't have to change much at all, but Wilder's going to have to move his body around and slip punches, which is something he could pull off with his limited moveset. I think the third fight is going to be more exciting than the first and second as we can see what new things he'll bring to the rematch.
@JohnnyB43
@JohnnyB43 4 жыл бұрын
No, Fury didn't take anything from Wilder in the first fight. Wilder did however come in heavy for the second fight, and possibly that was a mistake. However, he was the opposite extreme for the first fight and came in really light. I'm not sure how planned that was. Anyway, I think that the defeat will actually get Wilder to finally realize that he needs to improving his boxing skills and not solely rely on his right hand. So I actually think that Wilder will improve in the rematch - whether that is improving his jab and committing to using it more, or that is that he will work more on being a mobile target I don't know. But we saw once already in the first Stiverne fight that Wilder can use different tactics and stick to a game plan. That was the first time that he went 12 rounds rather than winning by KO. He use his jab and mobility a lot and was disciplined. I don't believe all this crap online with one or two trainers saying that Wilder only needs to change one or two things and he beats Fury easily. But I do think that Wilder will do much better in the third fight. I think that he will overcome the mental obstacles and, if his team are able to train him properly, he will put in a better performance. cheers JB

Finally, someone put things in perspective, thank you, Sir! AJ is a much smarter boxer than DW. It's Heavyweight folks, DW (as was said so eloquently)thought boxers were afraid of him, obviously, TF wasn't nor is AJ. TF and AJ both have the ability to change and make the necessary adjustments. DW seems to depend on the one right-hand punch to win. Smart fighters respect it but do not fear it, they learn techniques to neutralize it.

!! Breaking News !! Deontay Wilder in hospital after trying on Canada Goose down coat. Deontay Wilder is reportedly "in fine spirit" and recovering well after suffering multiple injuries trying on a Canada Goose coat at the University Mall in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The former WBC heavyweight champion of the world was enjoying some retail therapy following his crushing defeat to Britain's Tyson Fury in round 7 of their rematch in Las Vegas back in February. According to a source, Wilder liked the look of a hefty Canada Goose winter coat and proceeded to try it on, but the substantial weight of the goose down padding made the American fighter's legs unsteady, causing his knees to buckle and leaving him in a crumpled heap on the shop floor with a fractured shoulder and ligament damage in both of his knees. But the 'Bronze Bomber' assured fans in a statement that he is in 'fine spirit' and will be back in training as soon as possible, claiming he will 'rise like a phoenix from the ashes' to take another crack at that beautiful Canada Goose coat. ..

Wilder foot work and defense ie how he pulls his head back, when fighters his size and reach throws a punch shows he lacks some basic skills. He has so much ground to cover for as improvement in such a short period of time. Allso, he subjected to the left hook, he was being caught by fighters thats not elite. Wilder is to emotional to see it. This is the same guy gets made when some criticize him. Trying to get them fired and want let some media interview him any more after the voice there opinion. He not going to change until he mentally see that. Al and Shirley can keep pumping him up, until he see it, nothing changes. One thing George Forman said that stood out to me. "Wilder is very sensitive!" Do that sound like someone ready for change?

Wilder was never meant to be a boxer. He was forced to fight due to the sad story of his daughter and also the bad cards he was dealt with in life. Hes like a child who was forced to box by their father for family pride. Wilder should have been in the nba playing alongside lebron james. He ended up getting a hard on with the limelight of boxing and thinking his right hand was given to him by the gods above, but the reality is he is the village idiot. I wish wilder and his family especially his daughter the best of luck in the future. I respect his reasons for being in boxing.

This is the greatest thing that could've happened to wilder. Not only does he get to see who his true fans are, but now he has to acknowledge the glaring flaws. The delusional programming was necessary in building up a person with very few skills, and they did a good job for what its worth

As a fan of his, I wholeheartedly agree. Sometimes, you need that one ass whooping to really improve further. We can see what he's capable of going forward and hopefully he adds another wrinkle to his game. I sadly think though his age will get the better of him going forward and it may play a big factor in the third fight, but who knows. I just want to see a good fight

Before the 2nd fight started I said to the people I was watching the fight with “why does Wilder look so worried?”. This whole situation reminded me of the Ward-Kovalev when Ward kept saying Kovalev “knows what really happened in there”. I believe Wilder knew he couldn’t beat Fury and that look before the bell rang was very telling.

It’ll be interesting to see how fury fights in the 3rd fight, that’s the problem for somebody like wilder to train for fury because you have no idea what style he’s going to bring. He’s a complete fighter who can adapt to any style.

I think it's a calzaghe Vs Lacey situation, I honestly think wilder knew going into that fight he wasn't gonna win that's why he came in heavy coz he had doubts in his mind and yeh it was that 12th round, I think it took something from him mentally and it continued into second fight, can't see number 3 being any different and then I think Wilders done, the fear in the heavyweight division is gone, people know how to beat him now, back him up and beat him down

Sparring big guys to train for certain scenarios will be important for Wilder. In terms of mentality no one knows what Wilder thinks only Wilder does. George Foreman who had power himself is a good mentor for Wilder who himself came back to win world titles.

Hatman. In my opinion, the media and social media create the fear around Wilder, not Wilder himself. No one believed it when Fury got up, not just Wilder. Fury has no mental superiority over anyone other than he is a very good fighter. Remember, even u use to quote Wilder's saying of "most fighters need to be perfect for 12 rounds, I only need to be perfect for one second🤔". Was that having a mental hold on anyone. Many channels said it did. 🥊
