If I were ever asked which song I would take with me to a desert island, that I had to listen to for the rest of my existence. This is the song. No matter how many times I've listened to this in the last 20 years. It never gets old!

Excellent -- and now you really MUST react to their live performance of this song in Berlin some decades later. I mean, REALLY... 🙂 Depeche Mode got some intense and deep lyrics -- and they are tough on you. They don't beat around the bush. On a personal note, one of their songs (their lyrics, that is) is a personal punishment for myself and I have to hear it again every now and then as kind of a catharsis (if that makes any sense). ...and I enjoyed your silence at the end of the video. Best from Germany

DEPECHE MODE IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS, FIRST, YOU HAVE A VERY DISTINCT ORIGINAL ELECTRONIC SOUND! SECOND, ADD A LEAD SINGER WITH A HAUNTING VOICE! THIRD, LYRICS, SIMPLE AND POWERFUL, STRATEGICALLY PLACED TO EVOKE A REACTION! ❤THEM! BUT, WHAT I WANTED TO SAY IS THIS, IT'S AMAZING TO SEE SOMEONE LISTEN AND FEEL WHAT THE SONG IS ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL! ❤ IT!

Saeed, Depeche Mode - Home is one of the finest songs ever written. Sung by Martin Gore it has a different feel to the fine voice of Dave Gahan. It's simply mesmerising.

Home is beautiful. Martin Gore wrote it when he was in a very dark place in his life. He said in an interview that self-deletion was on his mind.

Always loved this song, well before I focused on the lyrics. Then it even got better. Now hearing it through your ears and life experiences it even gets more complex. It's interesting to me how music and lyrics can reach different people in different ways. To me it's a teaching moment on how diverse each person's life is, and helps to have empathy for all. Thanks for all of your sharing of your feelings and life.

The KZbin algorithm brought me here as a huge Depeche Mode fan, and I’m glad it did! Fun fact: in your first reaction to Policy of Truth, you ended the video by saying “Get the balance right,” which happens to be a Depeche Mode song title from 1983. And in this reaction, your closing comment, “This song speaks to me,” matches the title of a track from their latest album Memento Mori called Speak to Me, released in 2023. Amazing coincidences 😊 Keep up the great work!

Depeche Mode is my favorite band of all time. They have been around for over 40 years and you can hear why. They have lyrics and melodies that pierce your soul and songs that so many people can relate to. DM has so many songs that speak to me in different parts of my life. I hope you continue your journey through the musical poetry of DM.

Sending you love, Saeed. Addiction is a life-long battle. The trauma we want to escape is always there no matter how much work we've done on ourselves to accept it and move forward. Music can be both healing and dangerous, depending on the song. That's the beauty of interpretation. You have a lot of support on this channel, but take care of yourself.

Thanks so much for these warm words. Sobriety is definitely my priority and i can not become arrogant in thinking that i can't slip back into addiction. Like you said the trauma is still there.

Good music and lyrics always allow more than one interpretation. As far as I know, the singer of DM had serious drug problems, so you might be right with that. To me, it is always just a great love song. All I've ever wanted, all I've ever needed is here in my arms... This is just so beutifully expressed. It should exactly feel like this when you're in love with somebody. Thanks for this great and honest reaction❤

I mentioned before, DM were very influential on bands of their time and after. Definitely check out Strange Love (Blind Mix), Route 66 (Beatmasters Mix), Get the Balance Right (Combination Mix), Barrell of a Gun, It's No Good (album, not video, video is too broken up and distracting), Personal Jesus, I can go on and on, but that can help you explore more.

They do a lot of songs about addiction as the lead singer, David Gahan, famously struggled with it. How keen of you to pick it up. I hope you are ok, it seemed to really move you…

This was one of their best selling titles. Not my favorite though. I recommend »Never let me down again«, »World in my eyes«, »I feel you«, »Stripped« and »People are People«. Because this band put so much attention to sound design you should listen to the studio versions first.
