"Ghosts Again" is the most poignant, moving, and catchy DM track in quite some time. I can't explain it, but the arrangement, melodies, lyrics, and overall "feel" just lands like their best work did.

The best for me is My Favorite Stranger. This is back to old school. Sounds like a song from Violator with cool chords. A bit aggressive guitar from PTA and a bassline similar to The Cure or Sisters of Mercy

I agree about Black Celebration to Ultra were the best albums...never wanted to skip any songs. Ultra has become my favorite of these 5 albums, but it is really hard to choose just one since they are all so good.

Great insight on this album! I love it more each time I hear it. There are many layers to both lyrics and sounds in this album, a musical masterpiece IMO.

I only heard the new single and live versions of "Wagging Tongue" and "My Favourite Stranger" and already to me this album blows past the last two, "Spirit" and "Delta Machine". I feel like they found themselves again, those great DM hooks. "Ghosts Again" is the first song since "Precious" to make me go ...WOW.

What impact on the sound of the record do you think Marta Salogni had? she is knows for using those tape machines (which I presume give the sound or create the sound with this special "unreal" texture/reverb/etc.) - is this present throughout the album?

I think bringing in Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs to co-write with Gore
