Great content man, I can see this really answering some questions.Even as active duty you may not get deployed that's not to say there are not other opportunities, the military is filled with them. I just made a video on learning hand to hand in the military for example. One thing that was told to me which I will always remember was "make sure you use the military and don't let them use you!" Keep crushing it!

My first deployment in 2003 as a reserve E3 I was making less than $2100 a month. I never got BAH either of my 2 deployments because I didn't have a written lease. My first deployment was almost immediately after SOI and I was still technically living with my parents and my lease ended right before my second deployment so I just listed a relative's address so I could maintain residency in the state for when I got back and went to school.

I’m looking into going into the reserves as an 0331 after being out 9 years. It shouldn’t be a problem however I got fat and nasty since getting out, I’m dropping weight to hopefully land a boat space come October 2020 for the new FY. I’m certainly not doing it for the benefits and pay. I already have a masters degree and a job that pays me almost $50 an hour. The potential to get activated and deploy to combat is something that I want to be a part of should our country need us again.

sdf ds yup, you can be a officer in the reserves. But obviously to be an officer you would need your undergrad degree first. Check out my other video regarding college and reserve life - I'll talk specifically about the officer route in a future video.

I have a question. When you receive the notification of you being deployed... would they let you know a week prior to your deployment or a month? Thanks! This would be helpful for me because if I'm taking classes it would give me the knowledge and time to get my shit together before I hit the deck.
@SheldonLeeFit7 жыл бұрын
Animus Denied it varies from a week to a month to maybe even a couple months. I've heard situations where if they really need you, you can get activated in a matter of couple days (unlikely).
@johnwayne55987 жыл бұрын
Sheldon Lee I'm my unit we can deploy in 36 hours but we're a line unit so idk if that's standard for everyone or just us. Most of the SGTs and up have deployed and one in particular I know for sure deployed 5 days after being notified
@ringwraith19847 жыл бұрын
According to a Brigadier General who spoke to my unit during my last deployment ('07-'08), reservists are supposed to have written orders in hand 90 prior to their deployment so they have the official documentation and the time to get all their affairs in order before they leave. Most of my unit got our orders 2-4 weeks out. When the General heard that he quietly nodded, turned to his aid ( a Lt.) and said, "Look into that for me." The Lt. said, "Yes, sir!" and started furiously scribbling down notes.

Leo Gomez nope. You can apply for tricare and its supper affordable. But as a MARINE reserve you dont get much. Rah
@CMDR-Cody4 жыл бұрын
As far as active duty goes if you are in the infantry like I was then you will most certainly deploy at least every 2 years. That could be a combat deployment, a MEU, or a UDP. The typical structure is something like 9 months of a workup for deployment and then a 9-month deployment. UDPs are typically 6 months. Obviously, sometimes stuff changes, and also you have to take into account that you could always get sent to another unit. I got back from my first deployment and 3 months later got sent to another unit that was deploying. I never met a reservist outside of ITB. Anyway, I am watching this because I've been out for 6 years and am considering going back in as a reservist.

So if u dont volenteer and u get activated do u have a choice to not go over seas or do u have to go. Also when u volunteer are u volunteering to go over seas or volunteering to go over seas and not get paid. If that makes any kind of sense.

What if you’re in a different field other than infantry? Is that guaranteed you won’t be deployed for a combat mission at all? Can they ever move you to infantry or moving you to combat? And if you pick a general field, would it be likely youd end up in infantry? How does deployment work? Cause I’m only seeing it as a combat thing. As a female wanting to be marine, is there any limitations for me?
@danielval33595 жыл бұрын
By nature, the military is the military and there is always a chance to be deployed to a combat ZONE. That being said, as a Marine, you are a rifleman first which means, you could have an MOS like firefighter 7051 in a combat area but may not go outside the wire, unless you volunteer of course

I don’t know if this will be seen, but can my son do 2 years of reserves out of high school and then go active duty. He thinks that going in after reserves he won’t be able to do combat?
@peterdelapena28804 жыл бұрын
It’s possible, but incredibly difficult to do. There’s a lengthy process to switch a reservist over to active duty, and can take anywhere from 6 months to a full year. It all depends on “the needs of the Corps.” They may flat out say no, and he has to finish out his reserve contract. AFTER he finishes his reserve contract he can more easily reenlist over to active, so long as he has been a solid Marine in the time he’s served. If he wants to go active he should go active straight away. If you’re looking for him to take college classes after high school, I’m assuming community college based on you asking about 2 years, he can take classes while an active duty service member, fully paid for by the government. I personally know a few Marines who are getting their bachelors degrees soon, who have been taking classes while active duty. Hope this helps

I am a philippine navy reservist but we have no wages to receive in our unit despite our active duty training..and we didnt deployed in any mission even we are young in reservist.. even if you need to be transfer in regular force has many requirements to be work.. you need to undergo on the basic training again and age limit is only 30..
@connerfleury76 жыл бұрын
When u listed some of the things they base volunteer deployments on. One was extra military training. How do u go about getting something like that. Is it required? As in something eventually everyone does as in annual training. Or is it one of those on ur free time off military time u sign up for a class that they offer to further and better yourself in training and or job.

Im not a Marine, but currently looking into being a reservist. My fiances brothers are Marines, back home after 5 years infantry. One of them deployed three times. They say reservists that get deployed are "more expensive" to the government. They get paid more because they are "being pulled from their home to be deployed". They said the reserves are supposed to be compensated for the civlian money they arent making while deployed. Whether its true or not, im not sure. But this was from the mouths of active duty Marines
