Great job! I hope the residents also declutter some of the kitchen storage furniture. So they don’t have more clutter magnets to fill up again, and build a sustainable pantry for 2 people. In Holland, the next supermarket is usually just a bike ride (or even a walk) away. Or maybe get a meal kit service for a while, so cooking/mealplanning isn’t so mentally taxing. No need to store this much! But yeah, that’s what food hoarding does. I hope they seek/receive treatment. You made it a little bit easier for them! Groetjes!

I would like to see that too, in Canada our kitchens and houses are much bigger so those shelves would look small in one. But where I am it's a townhouse and the kitchen is a small square I did buy some shelves for my appliances and it does make the kitchen look a lot better. I don't like the fact they block the windows or the natural light coming in there are four of us in the townhouse and our small pantry is pretty full. I did buy a shelf for the pantry that helped a bit and we have more in the basement for everything else.

Also, next time include the footage of the mopping of the floor, that would be so satisfying with a floor that filthy! 😂 you have definitely made an impact on these people's lives. Wonderful that you could get this space out of 'too overwhelming' territory! I can totally see how the pandemic stress plus the way supermarket sales work can add up to this. Balancing 'buy bulk on sale' and how soon you can actually get trough things is tricky in the best of circumstances. Being able to see what is there and know it is usable and clean is bound to be very helpful :)

Wow that's a lot of food. I have a regular fridge freezer and two of those wall cupboards for my food. It's just the two of us now but we used to have four to buy food for. It was a bit of a pain sometimes not having lots of storage but ir does limit the amount you can buy at once and not over buy. There's still a lot of food, if there wasn't as much maybe the small appliances that are on the counter could be stored on the shelves when not in use. I come from Bonnie's channel and have subscribed. Hope you had a good weekend from England 😊

As someone with hoarding disorder and other issues, people "making noises of sympathy" is also hugely beneficial to counter the negative thoughts, self-image and feedback from others. Seeing comments that don't treat people with these issues as some strange species or people in need of judgement and shaming helps in many ways, including in summoning energy to do things as well as seek help and let others help. There are very few who are able to or would do the work Coline's doing, and it's utterly wonderful, but her words of understanding and support along with those of many others helps start to repair a lot of damage and give people some self-worth and hope.

I've seen kitchens similar in some older adults that grew up in the Great Depression in the 1930's in the US. Food was harder to come by and they grew up hungry, and would not even want to throw out expired food. It says a lot about this couple that they are taking steps to reclaim their home and ultimately, their life. They deserve better.

Wow, that kitchen had really gotten out of hand. I hope both Sarah and Simon are getting help for their issues. It's sad that Covid affected a lot of people negatively. I actually enjoyed the time here in New Zealand. It was so incredibly quiet with no cars on the roads or planes in the sky. We could go for walks around our neighbourhood and I was saying hello to people I had never seen before. We were very careful but just didn't seem to get too upset about the lockdowns etc but I know it was very hard for people with jobs they couldn't go to, and with kids not able to go to school etc. I was amazed at all the food. What a waste! There must have been hundreds of Euros worth of food that had to be thrown away. Made me think of all the people who don't have money for much food now. I could see that there was no room to put all the food, but it would have been good to be able to take it all out of the shelves and then scrub those shelves with a really good cleaning product, maybe even oven cleaner on those difficult stains. Then put it all back in an organised way. What did you use on the cupboard fronts? I saw that you scrubbed them with what looked like a steel wool pad (?) and then you used something that almost looked like plastic??? What was that? That floor was gross. It seemed like it would be good to put your cleaning product on it and some very hot water and let it sit, so it would soften all the yucky grime. Then scrub and scrape, and finally rinse. Anyway, you have a really good heart and I hope this clean-up gave them the incentive to carry on. Thank you for helping these people!!

It takes great courage and love of family to ask for help when your house gets beyond what you are able to take care of, especially for women. Please treat others as you would want to be treated because, " therefore, but by the grace of God, go I." Also, please be sure to support and pray for not only those in need, but these precious people who feel called to take care of others. God, please bless both the care givers and those in need. I sure hope you changed your gloves after touching dirty floor and then taking stuff off the counter and putting it on the shelf.
