Depression and Anxiety: Psychology in the Church with Henry Cloud

I needed to listen to this interview, even just for the words Dr. cloud said at the end of the the interview, that your life may be bad now but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of your story. Hearing his story of how God has worked in his life from a young boy was so encouraging and also addressing the beliefs in the Christian world about healing and counseling that are destructive. I have encountered those beliefs my whole life and it’s so encouraging to have that affirmed that I am not alone in thinking that there are so many hurtful ideas in the Christian world with emotional pain and mental health issues.

Changes That Heal & How People Grow are amazing work dealing with how we can grow and heal our character deficiencies. Character growth is what the Church talks about as sanctification - the healing of our souls. Both of their principles have helped changed my perspective and view of growth, in supporting others, but more importantly my own personal heart. I highly recommend both.

People can help people heal. With the holidays coming if there is a single or lonely person in your church and you have room at your table, invite them for Thanksgiving and show them the love of God and give them a sense of belonging, fellowship and Gods love.

Great discussion and God's grace to you both. One thing I would like to hear about is stigma by church with medication for depression or anxiety just to help newer Christians.
