I'm the black sheep in my family because I address these issues. My siblings view me as a shit stirrer because I hold our parents accountable. Domestic violence is hard on children and I struggle with romantic relationships as a grown up.

Relebogile you are so incredible on this Unpacked, your interviewing skills. You are Oprah of SA. However, I think you will need therapy yourself as well. Shuu topics you are dealing with are heavy , traumatic and yet so eye opening and healing to other person. I give you 150 % sisi.

I can relate to her because I've been there my father was very physically and emotional abusive to us and my mom. My trauma started when I was 4 my dad blame my mother for everything while he only work come back expecting to take 3 kids by yourself, clean, take care of the household, cook, wash the clothes, iron the clothes and take care of his huge pig. He was a nasty human being, he strow the food on floor and say he won't eat this. She will wake up with him at 3 am to prepare food he going to carry at work. It was a lot, at 6 my mother take to stay with her mother my grandmother who had a child closer in age as me my aunt had a child who 1 year younger thn me which means everyone had mom while everytime I try to cuddle my grandmother my little aunt will push aside and cuzin. I stay with them until I was 9 maybe had 2 or 3 visit from my mother without any love she literally ignore me and talk to everyone else and after she live. I never cried for he because I knew I would be yelled and bit up. You contently told your parents are living good life so don't bother us. At 10 I stayed with my parents was the worse 2 years of my life. My father had rules that we are not allowed to play, we were poor, we renting never own a house. They will short in rent we kick out not even knowing where we going to sleep that but my mother manage to find a place to rent. At 12 I was sent back to my grandmother with my 2 siblings. She didn't have time to take care kids so I had to take care my siblings but it was not a new thing coz at 9 years I was already taking care of them. Few years after my mom had 3 kids so now we were 6 kids it was the worse there my mind was to just study so that I can go study and be independent. I thought my life will be better thn that where I started thinking I can just kill myself the pain just go away and no one will care but I hold on until started working and I got to have medical aid. 2015 I started therapy I was hard for few years but I keep going I realize how hurt and angry I was towards my parents. My family is going rough time as we recently lost my brother in car accident it open so much wound. I'm so grateful I was able to get to therapy coz I'm much better in life. Therapy is not easy to go to sessions but you know you feel better after. Everything around you trigger you , you become sensitive to what people are saying. Feeling like the world hate you even your parents don't want you why you living. I learned that this unwanted and not enough it something that can be trauma coming from even your blood line and even when your mom is pregnant. Things that are sad become trauma to you. So I appreciate people talking about mental health because it huge in South Africa but we are indenial about it. Someone I'm not private person I envy so much to be private but I realized if I was private I would be dead and I wouldn't have been able to help so many people telling how important it is to attend therapy. If you don't afford therapy there is FAMSA I was able to refer people to it it helped so many people.

Nobuhle's story is a demonstration of the importance of finding a way to deal with the childhood trauma. Untreated or unhealed childhood trauma does have an impact on adulthood. Big ups to you for giving your inner child a voice and finding an effective way to heal. Big ups for normalizing mental illness and mental health. Thank you for sharing your story and empowering us. God bless 💞.

Thank you to Nobuhle for sharing her story with us, in terms of mental health I'm sure 90% of kasi people actually don't talk about their feelings because its seen as an attention seek trait, its generational and it's still there I hope I can one day have courage to start talking about it in my kasi at the very least
