I can vouch for that. I had to go to the county jail here to get fingerprinted for a silencer application, and when I applied for a security clearance for a federal job. Both times I was treated like a criminal, even though I was dressed in business casual, I was courteous, I explained why I was there, and most importantly, I wasn't in handcuffs being escorted by a law enforcement officer. ...and I live in an otherwise very chill community with a very low crime rate.

To be clear, qualified immunity doesn't protect them from being fired for being unprofessional. That's the thin blue line that does that.
