Some people may say Kreep is the worst person in this story, but that honor goes to King J. Refusing to let the person leave the group, asking a teen for pictures of their genitals, always taking the sides of the people in the wrong, ignoring the reports that a "trustworthy member" was engaging in unwanted sexual advances towards a minor (which is just wrong in all cases), brushing things off as mere rumors when the dms are living proof.... if this guy ever shows up on my discord, he is getting an earful, reported, and then banned. That is absolutely disgusting behavior unbecoming of a moderator/administrator.

I have a feeling King J knew they were telling the truth but was in on it seeing as they were a predator too. I think this because they had demanded nudes as 'proof' from only the girls. People online can and will find you in real life. Do not ever put yourself into a situation where this could happen to you. If you're trying to join a group and the first thing they ask you for is a picture of your genitalia, f---king RUN as if your life depends on it and immediately tell an adult. If you are being stalked by someone online, stop logging into that site and immediately tell an adult. Because these situations do escalate, and it often ends very badly. Let this serve as a warning: If you find yourself constantly defending a friend/relative against accusations of inappropriate or downright illegal behavior, perhaps you should reevaluate your relationship with the person you are defending. That said, I find it difficult to believe that King J was so incredibly trusting as to turn a blind eye to Kreep's behavior just because they were friends. And honestly I feel so much for op. When you are hurting and lonely, the craving for companionship and escapism is so overwhelming. @@gandalftheantlion This. So much. Teaching people to fear literally anyone older than them doesn't help them, it hurts them. It teaches fear, not safety. Not everyone who is older than you is a horrible monster. The same thing that should have always been taught is how to set your own boundaries, who to watch out for, that it is alright to tell someone older than you no or to leave, that you won't get in trouble for seeking help, and where to seek it. Replace fear with knowledge, with the tools to deal with problems, and with support for problems they should not have to deal with. Like this one. And consider if the kid(s) in question are trapped in an abusive situation in person, the only adults they can turn to are outside their immediate contact group. If you don't think this is a real or safe thing, LBGTQIA+ kids face this as a reality *so depressingly commonly* that teaching them to only speak to adults in their immediate contact group would only ensure many of these kids remain trapped. Some of us wizened elders of >20 actually want to do good by other people, too.
@elliewinters77432 жыл бұрын
I don't think telling them to stay away from everyone outside their age group is the solution, as not every person they are going to have a conversation with is going to be a predator. However, I think that instead we should teach kids to be wary of various people online unless they've known them for a long time, no matter how friendly they seem, to set firm boundaries and stand by them, and to leave when the red flags start showing regardless of how well the people seem to treat you at first (which is the case here). That, and to be wary of strangers IRL.
@cody-adricharper58482 жыл бұрын
As someone who was exploited, groomed, a predated upon as a kid I would like to say that being taught that all strangers are dangerous, especially in irl, is paranoid and damaging. The vast majority of people are decent folk who are not out to abuse children. Teaching kids that they are creates a culture of fear. That is not healthy. Teach kids boundaries, yes, as well as signs of danger, but don't demonize everyone they don't know, especially people who are older. When I was a kid I had a friend who was in his seventies. His name was Denton and he lived across the alley from my grandparents house. Denton was awesome. I still miss him, 20+ years later. He had kids and grandkids but none of them were into planes. I was. We talked about planes and his time in the army. He was a mechanic for B-24's in Africa in WW2. He had some great stories. If I had been taught to fear all adult strangers I'd never have made friends with him. I am paranoid, literally, as in paranoid schizophrenia (medicated), and I have a pretty good idea of what life's like when you're always afraid and when you aren't. I feel that the interesting people I meet and talk to outweigh the potential dangers of strangers. Everyone needs to figure out for themselves where they fall on that scale. I like optimism.

The sad part is this happens in real life without a gameboard too. I remember hearing on the radio around 2014-2015 during a family trip about a guy that we finally caught for kidnapping multiple women and making them into his "Harem" many of them from Native American reserves as a way to make their fantasy of owning an exotic wife a dream come true and it only finally stop when a white woman he caught escaped. my mom told me that a lot of Asian and Native American children are kidnapped from homes or reserves yearly, so certain men *coughwhitecough* can groom them into a trophy wife and are "discarded" so they can get a new one. And this IS very common in the USA but they don't want to openly say it This story reminded me of that and Katt is a piece of sh*t

- she says the cop across the road was "out front" doing chores, like japanese houses are just like american suburbs (they are not, most of them dont even have proper gardens unless youre way out in the country). most japanese suburban houses have very high walls, too, so it wouldn't have been that easy for the neighbour to see the police run over the road and the creepy guy - i highly doubt most police officers let a random passerby help tackle and restrain a culprit unless absolutely necessary - i also have no idea how the creep would've been able to trace her IP. i know kik is shady, but i don't think it would be THAT poorly secured, and afaik you can't accurately trace someone's address through their IP (in fact, this guy wouldve needed to contact OP's ISP. In Japan. To ask to get the address of this random teenager) - plus the fact that her English would've had to have been ridiculously good at just 16 (yes, many japanese people can become fluent but how good were YOU at knowing a language you learned at school as a teenager?). it's possible but somewhat unlikely - there are many other apps that japanese kids use to socialise - with each other that arent some random canadian messaging app where you almost exclusively talk in a second language - i'm not trying to speak over other victims of sexual violence and harassment, but in my opinion even if you HAVE been manipulated into believing shit like this is okay and being the target for all your friend's bullying, this doesnt make you into a complete doormat with no intuition. if i'd been asked to send pictures of my genitalia i wouldve immediately deleted the app or contacted CEOP or something, not just gone "huh, okay then" - she keeps talking about an "incident" and inferring it was a sexual assault. where are her parents. why is she seemingly living on her own when the OP also heavily acknowledges she is not an adult? why didn't the police inform her relatives about the crime? this reads like a weird american man (possibly) pretending to be a battered and vulnerable japanese schoolgirl because he thinks japanese women are soooo docile they would NEVER be able to object to sexual abuse and the poor little dears are just perpetual victims (just like in his favourite hentais). it gives me very not-good vibes. big reddit moment

The idea of 'guilty until proven innocent' is so scary to me. Even someone who was presumably as guilty as this person says should still be owed the presumption of innocence. The mountain of digital evidence plus their presence at their address far from the perpetrators home would be more than enough to overcome a presumption of innocence. Presuming guilty would lead to a lot of convictions of people who are completely innocent and it isn't worth incarcerating innocent people just to convict a few more genuine criminals.

Japan is very different, and it can be very scary. One. it's hard to get arrested. You have to do something extreme normally, or have overcoming evidence beforehand. Two. They're cruel to prisoners, and will basically torture to get a conviction. Three. Don't even think about drugs. Just don't.
